Funny thing, I just did this yesterday, but I used a mop aluminum handle to cut off the sleeves for the mirrors brackets. Found this video today, while watching your awesome license plate bracket manufacturing instructions! Thank you for the knowledge share!
For the Australian guys, after seeing this great video I searched Bunnings for a full hour. Their electical/lighting section sells 'Deta' brand conduit reducer PVC 20-16mm' pack of two for 22 cents. I used some sand paper on either side to get it to the right width. Snug fit around the tread of the bar ends. Works great.
I bit the bullet and bought the CRG Arrow mirrors. I used your mounting method and it looks awesome. Rock solid with no vibration at all. Looks so much better that the stock MT09 mirrors. Thanks!!
This was an excellent video! Made those Chinese bar end mirror perform like the CRG real thing mirrors! Take your time and it will come out perfectly! One of the best cycle DYI's on You Tube!
I got a 1/2" copper connector (not pipe, 1/2 copper pipe won't fit over the threads but the connecter is a little wider so it will). I spilt it in half with a Dremel tool, wrapped them in electrical tape to make the visible part black and that was it. Simple, no drilling, or messing around, and it only cost $1. Just remember to use locktight.
Watched a couple of your vids now. Very nice work. Love the camera work. I am liking the look of garage too. You should do a garage review video. I'd watch.
After installation, did you experience any vibration in the handlebars, even when using the stock bar ends? Great video. Which integrated taillight are you installing? I recently installed the Blaster-X. I was to impatient to wait for the tst industries one.
I assume no issues with throttle ? I ended up securing the mirrors to the very end of the stock ends in the meantime because the throttle kept sticking. it isn't the most secure method but I had to remove the stock mirrors. I'll try this method. Thanks for the tips! safe riding!
So following these steps (wrote it all down) you didn't have any issues with the throttle side sticking when tightening down the bar end with the spacer? It didn't look like you tightened the bar end with an allen? What is the torque spec do you know?
You have to have the spacer long enough so it doesn’t interfere with throttle operation....Extremely important. I may not have shown it on the video, but definitely tighten it with an allen. You won’t torque them down to “spec” since you are now tightening against it plastic spacer. Just tighten enough to ensure it doesn’t loosen up and use thread locking compound to safeguard against it as well.
@@MotoSouth what type of PVC pipe and what's the exact length at which you cut it for the throttle side? I'll attempt this again when installing new handlebars this winter. thx
I just got the mirrors in today, going to install them soon! Did you find their magnification to be much stronger than OEM? How do you like them for day to day use?
I've seen copper pipe used before. I'm sure steel would also make a good option as long as the outside diameter isn't so large that it affects the throttle.
Can you pivot the mirrors on the fly? for instance right before lane splitting, pivot the mirrors up to lane split and then pivot mirrors back down once clear.
I did this and I get throttle sticking if i tighten too much. I dont see the mirror mount interfering the throttle. Theres about 1mm space between. Any ideas why this happens? Thanks
Good vid! Does the mirrors themselves pivot or are they fixed? Ie can you rotate them left or right to adjust the view? I bought a chinese "Rizoma"set which look great- but the mirror part is fixed and doesnt pivot
Soooo...I ordered the CRG bar end mirrors for giggles and grins. 95 dollars for 1 mirror and you need the bar end adapters cause the stock ones are just a bit to small. The adapters are 50 for 2. The total for mirrors is 250....yea not gonna happen. These are going back. Had the MZS ones on order but these came quicker but not cheaper. It’s a no brainer for me. How are those holding up?
@@MotoSouth Good to hear, just picked up these ones, I'm sure it is all from same factory www.aliexpress.com/item/33003239474.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.347d67b1uiUoZY&algo_pvid=107297dc-99df-494e-b98c-3e26d863793d&algo_expid=107297dc-99df-494e-b98c-3e26d863793d-0&btsid=ff29cc01-1dd3-4886-829d-eb6ec4ddc170&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_7,searchweb201603_52
The only real difference I see is that they are powder coated and not an anodized aluminum like the name brands. I'll see how they hold up over time but I'm liking them so far.
@@MotoSouth : you didn't install it. I am wondering because of the throttle tube and your spacer and potential interference with it. Did you do the same style install for the throttle side then..? BTW : I have a new 2018 MT09 that I am plugging bar end mirrors on.
