Love it. I think thats a great guide using hand tools. It's a 1000 times safer than one i saw fitted using a chain tool by a very well known you tube bike mechanic. Most of these small chain tools are cheap rubbish and dont work. They dont flare the end of the links. I love that block of ali with the clamps, great idea.
Alot of good technique tips for making this easier and quicker(thank you for that) but also, for the cost of all those tools, you can buy a chain breaker riveter tool that will make the job even easier and better results.
I'm surprised that clip style was able to be formed. I bet a rivet link has much softer ends. Lots of quality info, complete steps, reminders, and extras crammed into your vid. Not everybody can spend big money on all the specialty tools.
I would never do this! Hack jobs can be dangerous and fatal. You paid thousands of dollars for your bike, helmet, gear, and you won't spend $100 on a good chain tool! Yes, in a pinch on the road, you can do this, but change it as soon as you get back to civilization.
get a km500r chain tool. fitted spring clip type master link on gpz500 today, turn plate in km500r tool so fj50 marking faces the outer plate , tighten up. no need to use excessive force.
