Just want to say mate: these videos are absolutely fantastic. You can read your Haynes and think "yeah, I can probably do that" and work your way through things. But there's nothing like the confidence you get from watching someone else do it first. And not in some chopped up 3 minute clip, but a full, in depth, start to finish process. I do as much as I can on my bike myself, and approaching a job armed with this kind of supporting information is such a help. Don't ever stop. I'm especially looking forward to seeing you put the Nitron on the fighter, because my Sprint has a saggy arse and she needs one too.

Hi buddy, thank you, that is very kind of you... I watch videos myself and I know how irritating it can be when people gloss over things and don't give you the detail you need... it's like buying a Haynes manual with pages missing lol ! Further to the videos, always remember, if you are doing a job yourself, you can always drop me a line and am happy to advise, if I can... thanks for your kind words, and for taking the time to write! All the best, D&Px

I’m 70 and never done a chain before. Split links, yes, but not this type. A neighbour promised to help but he’s got a family and is busy.... fair enough. My local motorcycle garage closed down. Chain needed replacing on my SV650S.... no confidence in doing it myself. Then, I found this video and watched it several times until I felt confident enough to do it myself. Well, I did it and had a few ride outs since. This video was so well made and presented by Delboy that he deserves a big slap on the back. Well done mate and thank you very much.

Hi there Tim, Thank you so much for your wonderful comments, its very kind of you to say. We make it simple and keep it basic, most of these tasks are straight forward enough, its often just the anatomy of a job that eludes people, fear of the unknown and all that.. Take care and keep in touch my friend, its always a pleasure to hear from you.. Del.

Word has spread around YT that you know what you're talking about and make really good motorcycle maintenance videos. Chaseontwowheels was recommended to watch this particular video by your mutual fans after he broke his chain-breaker tool. There's a whole generation of self made motorcycle mechanics that learn their skills watching your amazing videos. Congrats! Keep it up :)
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 7 лет назад
SeventhTenant Oh Wow, blimey, thanks mate... thats so kind of you... we make the videos to reach out to as many fellow bikers as we can.. times are hard, and nobody can constantly hand over the kind of money main dealers are charging now...so in the end, many bikes are just getting ridden in hope that nothing will happen if they dont service or repair their bike...but in the end, thats both unwise and unsafe... so we ALL have a duty to share what we know with this amazing medium of RU-vid aye....? It was really cool to have a respectful shout from contributor who's ten time bigger then us.... i think his videos are kidna fun he doesn't presume to know anything he doesn't know, and is a likable guy too.... sent him a message of thanks, and yeah, maybe it'll give our stats a kick in the pants too aye... awesome... take care.. del.

Another very valuable video for the home bike mechanic. Just by coincidence I was at the bike shop today looking at these chain break kits, looks to be identical and on sale for $50 USD. Your instructions on how to use it are a big help, otherwise I would be there with my ball peen hammer flaring those pins. Keep up the good work. :- ) BTW, when do we get to see your other half behind the camera doing all that fine camera work. She makes the videos very helpful with the closeups always in focus.

Great video as always. Fastest 50 mins ever:) Do you have any experience with dry chain lube? If yes, could you tell me how it performs in comparison to standard wet chain lube?
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 7 лет назад
Thanks buddy, wet chain lube does two things... it irrigates the chain, and the wax in it provides a layer of weather protection... imagine that weather protection removed, and you have pure lubrication only... the dry lube is finely powdered teflon, mixed with a carrier spirit... you spray it inside the links, all round the chain when the chain is hot right after a ride... the heat of the chain evaporates the spirit immediately, leaving the bearing faces of the chain coated with PTFE... this lube offers no weather protection, so it's good for dry weather and bikes that stay nice and shiney!

I was going to make a video showing how to do the same on my 1200s but yours deserves all the credit. You didn't miss a step. The thing with bikers is that most of us like to do our own repairs so we know the job is done correctly. After all we are on 2 wheels and if something goes wrong it goes wrong badly. Letting someone do work is much easier but also costs a fortune and you do not know what was done exactly. No better feeling than doing it all yourself. After getting back into biking following a back injury I got a ninja 250, it needed work doing to it so I took the plunge and went to youtube to look for certain videos. I kept finding this channel which I have to say is by far THE BEST bike mechanic channel on youtube. I have never done a chain and sprocket change before and after watching delboy's channel it all became very clear what to do, especially how to use the chain breaker and riviter tool. Your videos are amazing mate please keep up all the good work you do for the biker community.

"...for the sake of OCD, make sure you don't put it upside down..." You just became my favourite RU-vid mechanic with that sentence there mate! I bought a K2 GSX1400. She has seen some love, I must admit. But I can give her more love still, much more. I am about to rebuild the front calipers, I did change the pads but the brakes are grabbing too much in my opinion to the point one can feel it at very low speeds. I tried my best to clean those pistons. But I suspect, because the previous times pads were changed, they we not cleaned properly, so the pistons may not be working freely. The way I see it, if you have a video on the subject, anyone can do it at home! Thanks a lot for sharing Cheers

Really appreciate that you do the drawings and explain what each part of the tool does, I've seen other videos much shorter and they just go sort of like "rivet the pin" - What the hell does that mean exactly? In this video you learn the theory, and what happens and why it happens. I don't just wanna do something and be blind to it, I wanna understand it completely. Truly thankful for these videos!

Hello mate. Thank you for this. I'm fitting my new chain and front sprocket today (rear sprocket done) and seeing how you performed the task has already taken the anxiety out of the job. I would have been going the hammer route but have the tool and now know better 👍 Very helpful, thank you. Will say though; your posts must be popular as RU-vid is absolutely hammering them with adverts. Thank Christ for the mute button!

Thanks for your kind feedback mate, am glad the video's helpful, have fun with the job.. and yes, I know, it's that time of year where people are ramping up the advertising and we are all getting rather bombed a little bit, not much we can do about it sadly if we want to fund our content, but you can subscribe to You Tube Premium for a small fee and it eliminates the ads... however, it does help us keep the videos going by covering some expenses so it's a necessary evil unfortunately.

Brilliant video, my chain breaking kit had a plate that didn't quite fit over both pins so I improvised using the anvil and the face of the main tool body to press the plate on and that worked a treat This video gave me so much confidence going into an important procedure such as this

This is the best video I’ve come across showing how to do this whole process. Today I tried this before finding this video, king story short I need to buy another new chain tomorrow cause I cut it one link too short (I didn’t know I had to line up one inner link with another inner link) so I measured and cut where the chain right where i wanted it to be but one end was the outer link and the master link wouldn’t fit. Anyways, watching has shown me that I was doing it the hard way. I have this exact same breaker/riveter. Now I’m inspired to try again tomorrow and feel hopeful. Thanks so much for such a details explanation. It’s exactly what I needed.
