As an older rider, I'm more than concerned that new tech is eroding riding skills. Not to mention driving the price of todays bikes through the roof.

My car has adaptive cruise control and lane assist, and it took me several weeks before I had the nerve to trust it, and now I absolutely love it. I don't know if I would fully trust rider assist systems on a motorcycle. Since I often use cruise control on my Spyder. I would definitely welcome adaptive cruise control on the Spyder.

Good morning Coach! Some things are ok in cars, however we are dumbing up America! People are not paying attention when they are driving as they depend on the AI’s in cars. They are messing with their phones etc. Now putting stuff on MC’s Hmmmmm…… not sure I would want to much. If someone can’t hold up a two wheel MC then they should be looking at the Spyder or another three wheeler. People need to be aware of here surroundings in a car and on a MC. Have a great day! Be Safe!

I believe that what makes the riding experience so unique and addictive is the ride unit with the machine becoming one with the machine which in turn becomes one with the road. I believe a portion of these changes will take that away from the ride. Also will reduce the alertness and respect which is essential when riding a motorcycle. Some as mentioned are good for safety. But other can be deadly. Good video good analysis

Imagine going out to the garage expecting to take a ride on your new BMW motorcycle only to find out it is out riding itself 😂 The nanny system on the Spyder isn’t too far from all this.

Self driving moto? No way! That adaptive rider assist could be a big PITA on group rydes, which I do often. Call me Old School or a purist, but The Nanny is as far as I want to go with technology! See ya on the road!

The reason I ride is the experience of steering, accelerating, shifting, and breaking. Even now, on a Spyder, there is no feeling like accelerating out of a curve. Take that away and riding becomes boring. That's why I dislike interstate riding.

Hi Coach Bob. Personally I love my adaptive cruse control. Several times I feel it has responded to a sudden change faster than I believe I could have. I’d love to have that on my spyder. That and lane control annoying as it can be I find helpful. We’ve adapted to so many tech changes that we can do this too. How soon ? Not sure. Hope before I have to stop riding for some reason. Keep these new subjects coming. Excellent food for thought.

I ride for the enjoyment of riding and having control, I like cruise control, but not adaptive. I don't want my bike taking control for me. I like being able to do voice controls for music, phone & mapping thus keeping my eyes on the road. Having awareness alerts can be useful but also a distraction. We as motorcyclists develop or should develop a sixth sense awareness to put us into alert status because something is wrong.😎😎

OK, so really brief. Warnings - yes. Intervention - no. My wife's car has the adaptive cruise control, but I have not tried it. On the Spyder, I could see that as handy since you're not putting your feet down to balance.

Height adjustment to get on and off easier is ok by me. Also adaptive cruise. Not at all interested in having a fsd car or motorcycle!

The irony of losing some of our motorcycling autonomy to autonomous features...

Hi coach. I'm an older rider, 70 yo. And I'm sure these new bikes will fit the younger riders coming up but we who have had the pleasure of riding old school bikes are not going to be easy to convince. I prefer to depend on me to do all that stuff. I've made it this far. I know we have to be more on our game than ever because of the new technology and more perusing and depending on it to make up for their lack of attention when they drive. The future is here, but I'll take my chances.
@stevenbertling2826

Correction: we have to be more on our game because people are more dependent on technology and pay less attention to what they are doing

This is how I feel about it. The only thing I agree about this is the blind spots that is it. Whoever this is stay in your lane. Stay out of ours if I need help to ride my motorcycle I don't need to ride anymore. put cameras on all motorcycles. That will be a lot safer For us.

I agree with the previous comments, it's exactly the same in the UK people are becoming far to reliant on AI and other driver aids to do the job for them. I am happy to stick to the good old fashioned method of two hands on the wheel or the handle bars and paying attention to what you are doing opposed to fiddling with your phone or stereo! I think mirror blind spots and lane assist are useful to help avoid collisions but I really don't want the Car or the Bike telling me what to do, like big brother.

Hey coach, I have been meaning to ask you about the music you use on your channel. Is it you playing? It sounds "organic" and really fits well with your content. It sounds awesome, by the way!

In my car I have shut off adaptive cruse and lane assist. Why? After the first week of people behind me flashing the high beams and then passing and flipping me off I realized every time the adaptive cruse adjusted my speed to the vehicle ahead, it applied the brakes causing the cars behind me (I’m assuming) to think that I was brake checking them. Lane assist almost put me in the windshield as I moved into the start of a new right lane and the car assumed I was leaving the road and slammed on the brakes to “save me”. Teach drives to ride and then let them take control. No way do I want this on my motorcycles!

Some of the technology might be good as far as safety, but I would still want to drive and shift and control the bike.

No way I would trust adaptive cruise control on motorcycle, not with the way it functions by slamming on the brakes when someone cuts in front of you with less that a car length of clearance and you go from 75 MPH to 55 or less and then when the car clears you the adaptive cruise control lags to resume.

All of this future tech will be released but not sure how well the buyer will accept the changes. It’s all about safety but the $9,000 bike just became the $18,000 bike? When does the consumer put a stop to technology? Sadly, maybe never. The government is wanting Zero deaths or injuries and the economy won’t help dispense the technology. Things have to be driven by $ versus ROI and to force the consumer to buy these products will be slower than many may think. In the long run, I think the cost will prohibit even early adopters that want an automatic ride. It will happen but the costs will slow down the adoption for awhile.

Sounds like bad juju. If the AI motorcycle/car gets into an accident, is the AI going to be held responsible for the outcome?

As I get older the less I like high tech. I will always go back to the K.I.S.S. method (keep it simple stupid). I keep a eye out for what's in front of me as well as what's coming from the rear and sides. I had adaptive cruise control in a car I owned and strongly disliked it. For me I would pass on any of this high tech.

It will depend on the cost of technology and ultimately the cost of a bike. If their primary demographic is priced out, then it is nothing more than an experiment.

I drive a Ford with a 360 system; I flew in airplanes for 20 years. I love my electronic toys, my wife hates her 360 system. I think its all about preference, I don't use the 360 to drive for me, but I do use it to assist me and keep my SA when driving. I use it as a tool not a true autopilot. I am very excited about this kind of application in a Spyder, I am not sure about how much I would like it in a 2 wheeler if doing extreme driving, but I am sure like with all things you can turn it off. However much I love this stuff, the price is going to be a issue, I believe. But really excited about some of these toys and can't wait to try it. I am really hoping the next Can Am will have this as I can't afford one this year....so here is to hoping!!!
