Thank you so much for showing this Floridian the wonderful sights and people of your part of the beautiful UK. Your videos inspire me to get into nature and bike more than I otherwise would. Your content is intelligent, sane, calming, earthy, interesting. I never miss a posting.
As always, the rain has no mercy for a biker...even when you take delivery of your brand new bike! Congratulations to your friends with their new wheels Sandy👌🏻🍻
I am every bit as happy as you are about Spring arriving Sandy. I love this time of year and all of the promise that it has to offer. The weather here right now is not quite Spring like yet, but it is just around the corner from that. Give it a week or two and things will be on the full turn I think. I know that you always make the best of whatever conditions that you are dealing with but I also know that you are more than ready to get out there on your bikes and enjoy some warmer and drier offerings. Have fun out there my friend and thanks as always for letting us hang out with you for a while. See you on the next one.
It was very cold and frosty this morning Terry but the sun is getting stronger. I think this will be a good year, I'm going to try and make it that anyway:)
It's always a joy to buy something new especially a car or a bike and you go out for the first time. Thanks for sharing this moment with you and the guys brilliant safe travels.
What a really beautiful English village Sandy, would really like to see a review with photos of its history over the centuries, bet it could tell a lot of tales. Really great to witness the excitement of those young old bikers as they arrive to pick up their spanking new machines reminds me of what Christmas morning was like for us kids us when I was a nipper more years than I care to remember, best of luck to them all with their new toys.
Great video Sandy, I was surprised at the drop in price of that bike from what you paid few years ago!. one would expect it to go up not down. "Que Sera Sera" (what will be, will be) glad to hear you were enjoying the strom, hope the service on it goes well. thanks for bringing us/me along. es 73 de Ellis WA1RKS
@@WiltshireMan having put 5000klms on mine I can only agree, there is a lot of they’re only Chinese rubbish talk, sounds a lot like what people said about Japanese bikes in the 70s and within a few short years they had decimated the rest of the motorcycle industry, I think we might be witnessing something similar.
There's been lots of "Chatter" amongst our group of riders Peter, like it or not Chinese bikes are here to stay I reckon and the build quality is going from strength to strength too! @@PeterAllan00
Great stream .Please could you tell us what cam your using and micro phone etc. Love your streams . Never miss them. Many thanks for your hard work .Keep them coming 👍👍👍👍Just insured my bikes for the year an am looking forwards to getting out on our lovely Irish country lanes .
Nice to see happy customers. With the Himalaya delivered... it took the joy off of the new bike.. as did the registration number, you'd need to it to understand..! I paid just shy of £4,500 in 21, did get Panniers in deal and finally the Hand guards sent me. That price £3999 OTR..! sure leads to the drop in Secondhand prices for 411's as seen on eBoot.. don't think I'll get to make an exchange. Take care. Cheers Davey
Yep, same here with the Himalaya.. unless the cost of the coming renewals rocket through the roof.. think then will have to sit and rot into the ground.. @@WiltshireMan
It is a steep price Robert, and I'm still coming to terms with the amount! But it means the bike will be a keeper for another 3 or 4 years, so in the longer term I may see a saving!? I shall do all the interim services which are just oil and filter changes myself. The only advantage of having the dealer do this bigger service is they give an extra 1 year warranty and can update the electronics on the bike
Hi Martyn, Hoping to do Scotland and the Islands on the Himalayan this year, also a meet up with John Pawson in Yorkshire in May. Possibly even meet up with you and your gang Martyn:)
@@WiltshireMan Hi Sandy. We will be I the Dales from the 29th of June for a few days, there is a nice campsite across the road from the house in Horton in Ribblesdale. Anyway hope I can call by and say hello on my way back from the Cider Rally on the 6th May. BTW you are welcome anytime to call over to the “East” Cheers.
I'm a fan of the V Stroms and i'm on my second 650, they're great bikes. I'll be interested to know if any shims need replacing on your 15K mile service. I do all my own servicing, apart from valve check which would be too much work for me nowadays on the Strom. Although i do also have a Honda NC750X, the valves are much easier to get to on that, so i may do that myself when its due. Old school screw & locknut as well.
Good to see a little nice weather going your way. You're Suzuki is about as nice an all around bike as anyone has ever made. New bikes come and go but the Suzuki V Strom has everything going for it.
Thats quite truebJim, It's going in for a big service tomorrow and won't need another valve check for another 15K miles, I shall do all the easy interim services (oil and filter) myself.
I've given up paying for valve checks, they never need adjustment on the 3 vstroms I've had. As long as the ECU has been updated on the 1000 and the wiring harness issues have been dealt with they are great bikes. I'd highly recommend a Givi Airflow, cheap and transforms the bike for touring
@WiltshireMan I was going to but a Triumph Tiger in really good condition that also was due its second service which is a big and could be upto £1000 !!
Lots of nice trails around Salisbury plain Clifford, that would be a good place to start. Maybe join the TRF they will know where all the trails are, they are dotted all round the count. Great bike the Voge, you will love it, I wouldn't mind one!!
i bought a new black explore was supposed to be delivered today the 2nd but now delayesd till Tuesday the 5th im gutted i was told my black one was the first in the UK obviously not lol
Sounds to me like you got a very good price. Local Suzuki dealers charge £850 if there needs to be a shim change, if not then it's less but I don't know by how much. The service includes New spark plugs ( two per cylinder), New air filter, New coolant, Brake a clutch fluid change, software update, a complete check over and also get an additional 1 year extra Suzuki warranty which could be useful as the bike is now 6 years old!
@@WiltshireMan I used to do the valves myself on my vespa as there is tons of information on how. My SH125i, not so much. They also changed the belt (or so they said) , rollers and spark plug. The belt snapped at half its service interval, leaving me to push the bike for three miles, was not happy. I do all the belt changes now. Thanks for the info!
Hello Wiltshire man. I admire your energy. We have similar interests. Would you recommend travelling the UK on a motorcycle in april? Cheers from Norway.
Have you considered doing that valve service yourself Sandy ? Maybe a good video in there too ! You’re quite a methodical person , I’d say within your capabilities. I’ll do my Africa Twin when the time comes.
I could possibly do them, I think it's within my ability but I lack the proper tools and a nice clean space under cover Stina so I'll let the dealer do it, not only that but I will also get an extra year of warranty included and they can also do an update on the electronics etc
Hello Sandy, just went with a friend to buy a new bike. He picked up the new Honda Transalp. My favorite way to be involved in a bike purchase. Spectator. No payments, no jitters, no break-in miles. And still taking in the thrill of a new bike. I've a book for you to read, "The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window And Disapeared". Thanks for the vids..
Hi Bob I must admit it was fun watching them pick up their new machines, but I'm quite happy with my lot and it's nice not to have to spend all that money on a new bike, though I am forking out a bit for the major service
The More money than sense was just a joke Terry, Ahhh, yess it's a lot of money, but this service requires a lot of work that I'm not comfortable doing like removing all the fairings and tank and also updating any software on the bike (engine map) that I simply couldn't do, also removing cams and reshimming if required (if no shims are needed the price will be cheaper), They will fit new plugs (2 per cylinder) balance the throttle bodies, new clutch and brake fluids including the abs system, fresh oil and filter and air filter and I'll get an extra years warranty for what thats worth? This service is once every 15K miles which for me is every 4 years or thereabouts. All other services which are just oil and filter I do myself one every year
Yes I must admit I think it's a bit high too, but they will give me an extra years warranty and also update the software which is something only a Suzuki dealer can do
