As someone who suffers from stress and anxiety on a regular basis, I can relate to what you’re saying. Riding a motorcycle is what saved me mentally when I started around 5 years ago. When I have long periods of not being able to ride, like this winter, it really takes a toll on me. So I search RU-vid looking for content like yours to get me through these down times. You may not know it, but just going out there and being honest about how you feel, and uploading videos like this lets the rest of us know we’re not alone. Thank you for talking to us. It helps more than you know.

Glad to see you are back making vids and riding. Ended up in Telluride myself with two broken ribs and severely bruised kidneys last year in early Oct. COBDR is no slouch. A year ago, I sold my KLR after my wife surprised me with a V-Strom. I miss that bike too much so... Just started a budget BDR KLR build project I will be uploading here on YT. Keep it up. Would live to connect and go on a ride.

Good thing is, YOU are okay. Just crashed my klr off road the other day. Not as bad as you, but I got pretty banged up. Glad to see you're not a quitter! Be safe man!!

You’ve gained a healthy amount of respect for the hazards of cycling. I also had a fall a year ago; shoulder separation. The funny looking bump is finally getting smaller. I did take a couple months off before riding again. I’m 68.

Thanks for this video. I'm 90% recovered from a Tib/Fib break during a dual sport rally in Sep 2023 and have anxiety over getting back on the bike when I'm fully recovered. I cannot give this up, but cannot help but fear that my desire to never break a bone again may impact my riding dramatically. My riding buddies tell me that I'll lose the anxiety after my first few rides...like "riding a bike"....and I certainly hope so, but till then the concern remains. Appreciate your thoughts on the subject.

Great message man. It's hard to be vulnerable. We're all human. Mental health is something that isn't discussed enough. Much respect my friend. Definitely sub'd to the channel.

Thanks for being so open, and I'm glad to see you creating new content and getting back on the bike! I loved your last BDR series and I hope you can work yourself up to big adventures again. Cheers mate!

Brother, I actually needed this video.Thank you! I ride a KLR and started watching you because of that. I also follow JR Depew. I am closer to his age than yours but absolutely love and appreciate both channels because of your great content. Please keep it up! Know that you help other riders.

I had a similar experience. I hitted a rock and my KLR wheelied and turned 90 degrees throwing me out of the trail. Luckily I landed on a bush and I was fine. However after that experience I sold my KLR and bought a 300 Rally. With the CRF I had the chance to refine my offroad skills.

Great perspectives here. Very humbled that you found specific value in my videos. Hmm. Color grading 😮 next frontier?

Great video putting this out there. Good for us to see/hear it. I'm thinking about a KLX300 for weight related issues. Just need to submit to what it will be like riding above 60 when I need to commute to some of the trails I want to ride.

Dude, try and turn it around. You’re able to still ride motorcycles and explore and enjoy nature. Lots of people can’t do that, plus a lot of people can’t afford a motorcycle. You are lucky 😉 Plus you need to accept that riding off road, odds are you are gonna go off the bike sometimes, shit happens. Try and accept it and enjoy exploring anyway 😉 No shame at all getting scared, it’s normal and with time and more miles on the bike, you will feel it less and less 👍🏻

Met you at Sinclair‘s. Do you only ride adventure bikes or do you have a street bike as well?
