Very good video BBB...I've been riding for 40 years and I'm still take every opportunity to practise. I'm a new subscriber and I'll watch all your videos from the start eight month ago. Thank you!!
i watched this a while ago and wasn't able to comment at the time. the video looked great, no real audio issues, and it's nice that you show actual traffic and the interaction between you and them. nothing against the other vloggers but usually they edit those parts out just have the open road travel and not the thicker, in-town/city traffic that is important to show, in my opinion. can't wait until the next, beth. stay safe and keep her between the ditches.
Good luck with the upcoming test. I took my MC test 42+ years ago in Ohio on a 1972 Honda CB200T. Sadly, I don't remember now what we had to do, but I vaguely remember similar scenarios. Thanks for sharing
Hi Beth, I am guessing you may have already successfully passed you test by the time you read this, but if not good luck. After your test my advice would be to practice braking in a similar environment to the test centre (good even surface with lots of room with no or very little in the way of hazards). Use a line or mark as your braking point and then mark where you stop. Start slow and gradually build up to 30-40mph and see if you can improve a little each time. All four fingers on the brake lever and squeeze don’t grab. Practicing this while also learning the best combination of front and rear brake to use may make the difference between hitting the car that pulls out or stopping short of the collision. Take your time, and there should be a visible improvement from start mark to finish mark, and also you will hopefully feel more confident. (REMEMBER IF THE BIKE STARTS TO SKID ALL YOU NEED TO DO IT RELEASE THE BRAKES, that’s why you are practicing in a big empty space!). A bike wants to go in a straight line and will naturally stay upright as long as it has sufficient momentum. The next thing is then counter steering, it will improve your ability to turn suddenly and will again aid hazard avoidance. Keep safe and enjoy the ride.
Good luck with your test, looks like you'll be fine. It amazes me that you can ride a bike on the road in the US without doing these basic skills tests. We have to do almost the same before we can even get a learners permit to ride a 125cc in the UK. Then there are additional tests (mod 1) and road rides (mod 2) before we can ride anything bigger, which is then restricted depending on your age. Direct access over 24.
Uh seriously the motorcycle licence system in the UK is bs, I have been looking into getting my license and honestly after learning everything i have to do and how much time/money it would take has really put me off...
Don’t worry, you’ve got this. It looks like you’ve done a fair bit of practice, so once the test comes, clear your mind and do what you know how to do 👌🏼
Nice video! I need to get some slow speed practice in before it gets cold ❄ outside and I won't want to do it. Keep inspiring people to do the right thing. 👍🏾
Good luck! Can't believe that's it to get a motorcycle license. Holy Moly. No road test? Here in BC 🇨🇦 you get a walkie talkie in a vest and you drive around the city for 30 mins or so doing as instructed. The test you'll do is what we do just to get a learner permit. Lucky you.😊
Same as the test to get your L's here in Australia, although we have 6 to do. With the avoidance skill, it is way easier just to keep rolling through. If you try stop to quick the chances of dropping your bike are higher. Give yourself time to straighten up before stopping.
Wow your motorcycle test is easy. In the UK the quick or emergency stop is at 50kph or 31mph we also have to do the cone weave or as we call it slalom, figure of eight, stop in a box, u-turn and then swerve avoidance also at 50 kph or 31 miles an hour there is also a manual handling test moving the bike around from one parking space to another and all that before we then go on to do a motorcycle road test. Before all that we have to take and pass a theory test and hazard perception test.Anyway good luck with your test hope you ace it ride safe
Congratulations on your test . I’m taking a msf course next month and hopefully I’ll have my license to I had a question what kind of gloves are you using thru look very comfortable.
Biker Babe Beth reason I asked about your gloves are because they are Velcro on the back side of your hand not a zipper or if they didn’t have Velcro that would be cool too but just the same they caught my eye and I’ll be looking for something like that thanks again.
And you have to do the riding portion on a scooter right? I'm in Michigan too. Been on motorcycles since a little kid. I've been riding 1000cc + 4 cylinder street bikes for years. So long that back then when getting a license at Secretary of State, when they required a cycle endorsement, you told them cycle endorsement and they would put an M on your license no testing at all. Rode like that for years. Then a few years back I had to renew my license and they didn't put the M on it. I didn't think much of it until I got pulled over on my bike and ticketed for no endorsement. Before the court date I took my cycle road test and they gave me a little scooter which I had never ridden in my life. Dumped it within about 50 feet. Failed. Big difference between a 900 lb Goldwing on the street and a 50 c.c. scooter! Retook it at another location a week later (which the first place told me I couldn't do) and they let me practice first. Passed easily. Sorry so long but motorcycle stories you know.
Did you take a MSF Basic Rider's Course? In both Georgia & New York, as long as you pass both the written and the ridden tests, you don't have to retest in front of the DMV (and you'll get a discount on your insurance too!!).
I don't know if you are aware, but if you take the basic rider skills class at your local Harley dealer, you don't have to take the BMV skills test. Good luck. looks like you will have no problems at all.
Here in NC if you take the mini weekend motorcycle drivers course, the driving part of the test gets waved when you go to get your license from what I have been told.
I think that was a thing in Ohio also but it isn't well known. I haven't looked at what was offered this year. I did the course 10 years ago and then went to get my license. One thing that Motorcycle Ohio did was separate from the MSF course.
On U turns you modulate speed with the clutch not the throttle. Add a lil rear brake to increase stability. I know this cuz I suck at low speed maneuverability and practice when I can...🤣
Record your test and if you don't like it you could always tell everybody your GoPro battery died when you actually hit delete LOL sure you'll pass it good luck
You'll pass I'm sure. I have no idea what the skills test is here in Arizona. It was not offered in my town. It was over 100 miles away. I took the MSF course and the certificate means you don't need the skills test.
