In episode 2 we leave Haworth and head towards The Dales proper passing through Bolton Abbey and Pateley Bridge for our two night stop in The Sawley arms Hotel/pub. From here we do a loop tour taking in the delights of Grassington, Kettlewell and the Aysgarth Falls before heading back and visiting the haunting ruins of Fountains Abbey. The grey weather finally abated and we had some beautiful sunshine for our Dales Loop on our second day. We also were able to eat outside throughout our stay. The Sawley Arms (although not cheap) proved to be a great base to explore the local Dales roads. If you enjoy this episode, please remember to give us a THUMBS UP (it helps!) and don't forget to subscribe and hit the notification bell so you won't miss our next upload! Thanks for watching!

Love the video, so many places I know very well. For someone who hates crowds you did a great job of hitting the tourist traps at busy times ! Grassington, Bolton Abbey, and Kettlewell are places to avoid like the plague at weekends and Bank Holidays. (Spoiled by the number of tourists) And when in the Dales don't be afraid to explore the lesser, un-numbered roads. On a bike it doesn't matter if you end up in a farmyard because you can turn around (been there, done that) so you can't really get lost and you'll see better views than you get from the main roads. By the way, Masham has no "sh" sound - it's pronounced "Mass-ham"
@midlifemotorcyclediaries
@midlifemotorcyclediaries 10 месяцев назад
Thanks very much Kevin, you’re absolutely right about the tourist places- the trouble is we still wanted to see them! Got to take the rough with the smooth I suppose! Yes, completely got Masham wrong 🤷‍♂️ I’ll know better next time! 😀👍

@@midlifemotorcyclediaries You're very welcome. I've been familiar with the Dales since my younger, biking days, and I know the area very well, so I know where to go, where to avoid, and when. My advice is this; Get off the beaten track. The valleys basically run west to east, so as long as you have a half decent sense of direction it doesn't matter if you're on an un-numbered road because you will always end up somewhere that gives you a good reference point you can use to find the way to your intended destination. And in between, you'll see wonderful unspoiled places that few others see.

Recently discovered your channel; really enjoyed it. Spent much of the last 3 evenings enjoying your trips and dreaming of when we can get back on bikes. Very much enjoy your relaxed approach to motorcycle touring. I too appreciate a couple of pints and a quality dinner after a day’s riding. So very much my kind of viewing. Really enjoyed your production values too; great editing; know how much work has gone into that, it really shows. Just a couple of minor suggestions for improvement; I’d like to hear more from Sue (Bryan; I hope you know what a very lucky fella you are), and secondly I would appreciate less ersatz music. I think those of us who enjoy your channel don’t need sensory overload; we’re more interested in what you and Sue have seen and what you have to say, and less interested in canned music; reminds me of when I’m in a lift or put on hold. But overall love your channel; you’ve bought a little joy to these difficult times. Thanks again

What a lovely ride!! Quiet roads, lots of twisties and waterfalls...sounds like where I live! Hey, is there strict regulations about parking on footpaths in the UK? What a pain parking must be in those little villages.

I often lead, John but the cameras are set up on the front of my bike and the rear of Bri’s - and they’re a bit of a faff to swap over - so that’s why you only see Bri leading on the videos. I’m ok with letting him lead on camera 😉👍

I know it’s easy to criticise and am on,y seeing a little bit of your riding but, Wish you lady would learn to use your back brake, not slam on with the front and throw both feet to the ground, it’s more graceful and safer to come to a stop with the back brake and put one foot down.
