There are lots of great Moto Vloggers out there putting out brilliant content for adventure motorcycling, big trip touring, bike reviewing, technical fixes, etc. All of them doing a great job! This channel is different. We are a couple who came to riding late in our lives (50 and 53) and wanted to encourage all of you out there who might think it's too late to start to get geared up, get your leathers on and just ride! We're no experts, we've no idea how to fix mechanical problems, we just love riding our bikes. If you ride as a couple and/or came to biking late you might find our channel of interest. If so, please like, subscribe and comment. We look forward to hearing from you!
An observation, as a former advanced police driving assessor I would humbly recommend some advanced motorcycle rider training for Sue's safety. At the start of your video the footage shows her continuing to indicate left whilst turning right on a roundabout and then cancelling her indicator quite late. Very confusing for following traffic. I know the use of indicators in France is somewhat optional but we can do better, Your steady riding style is to be commended especially on trips abroad and I do enjoy your exploits.
Nice video guys. The only thing I miss about living in Australia is not being able to tour through France on the bike. Route Napolean through the Verdun was amazing. Cheers, Nick
Thanks Nick 🙏 as beautiful as Oz is, we would certainly miss the convenience of all the European countries if we were the other side of the world! By the way, I loved the Hitler video and got a Facebook strike for sharing it - promoting extremism apparently! 😀👍
@midlifemotorcyclediaries Facebook is all over the place on my Hitler video, I appealed against them pulling posts and now they can't make up their minds whether it's bad or not. Clearly their bots aren't able to process humour! 23k views in just 2 weeks though, so obviously RU-vid doesn't care!
Hello if you feel this question is either too personal or dare I say impertinent please feel free not to answer it,I have observed that both yourself and Sue aren't the type of people who change your bikes on a whim so at what mileage and age do you begin to think about buying a new bike? Many thanks for the great vids cheers.
Thanks Ken - we’re happy to answer your question! We both love our choice of bikes and really wouldn’t want to swap them for anything else, so we tend to keep them for at least 3 years (warranties usually run out by then) but because we are not mechanically minded and we can’t fix problems or even do basic maintenance when things start going wrong we believe it’s time to change. We make sure they are both serviced at the dealership on a regular basis and would only consider changing them if they start to let us down. Sue loves her 900 and to be honest, there is nothing out there that would tempt her at the moment - if she did change it would be a trade in for the new 900! My 1250 is the best bike I’ve had, it does everything I need it to do. Hope that helps! 😀👍
Thanks for your honesty I usually change my bikes due to mileage not age at around about 50,000 miles.I own a Pan European ST1300 with 32,000 miles on the clock and a Pan America Special 1250 with 7,000 on the clock trade in values of bikes are appalling at the moment and in no way do they represent the new retail purchase price so I'll just keep mine until they die then buy new once again tatar.
My wife and i always watch and enjoy your video's, and it must be the first time we've ever heard Sue angry towards someone ( the chef) and rightly so😊 we did laugh 😂 we did wonder if it's simply a case of alot of french resenting us or they're just built that way? Ride safe, be well👍🏻
Thanks for another great episode; I look forward to every one. In my three visits to France I had a decidedly, um, unpleasant experience. So I’m happy to live vicariously through your good experience. Thanks again.
Thank you Marco 🙏 we’re sorry to hear you had bad experiences in France 😳 what happened? We’ve always enjoyed our time in France ( as long as you stay away from Paris! 😂)😀👍
Enjoyed the episode thanks. Like you, we enjoy a good hotel but pretentious chefs (and menus) are really off putting. You've got to love the low traffic levels of Spain & France compared to the packed roads of the UK. Eating late there takes a little more getting used to, especially if you want an early start the next day.
Thanks Richard and Carol - like you we love the quiet roads of Spain and France - but still trying to adjust to Spain’s preference for late dining 😬 - just about to catch up with your latest Pyrenees episode! 😀👍
You guys are incredible. We’re just staying between Bergerac and Bordeaux right now and have flown, but there’s no way I would have the stamina to bike here although we are trying to keep a toddler happy which is tricky in rural France with so few parks and swimming pools. I hear there’s been a global IT meltdown, let’s hope we can all get back home safely.
Thanks very much Graham 👍 you definitely could bike there - from Santander it’s not really that far! Hope you’re having a great time and a safe journey back! 😀👍
Why so critical? Dont you people watch this content by your own choice? Someone goes to all the trouble and burns up hours upon hours to make and edit these videos and ask for nothing in return all for the love of sharing entertainment and you say “No Like”! Maybe try doing something useful with your life.
Sorry, but there's no blue cheese in your Roquefort. The famous cheese is made 326 km away in Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, which is near the Millau Viaduct. It is best eaten locally as it can get very smelly in the bottom of a pannier 😂
Just ask for an entire list of what's in season and then what's in stock, asking why they haven't got an item in stock if it's in season. That should suitably annoy the pompous chef! Yes, that sort of thing really winds me up, like eating food off various kitchen items rather than a plate. It's the "Red" in me again! 😉
Sorry to tell you you got it wrong for the Roquefort village. It’s not the one for the cheese. The cheese Roquefort comes from Aveyron. I do appreciate your videos. I’m French, my husband’s English and funnily enough we’ve got exactly the same motorbikes, even the same colors ! Keep on the good work ! Next time you visit this part of France, we live on the coast about 40 miles north of Biarritz !
Merci beaucoup Sylvie 🙏 I know I got the cheese location completely wrong! 😂 Mea Culpa - you’ve obviously got great taste in bikes 👍 - needless to say, you live in a beautiful part of France! 😀👍
My wife and myself have been motorcycle touring for years when we aren't on a trip I like to look at videos like yours for inspiration for route's and locations. Your videos are well produced very watchable and helpful in giving me new ideas.
Thanks very much 🙏 we’re really glad you enjoy watching our trips and it’s nice to know you might get some inspiration/information for your future trips! 😀
love the new 360 camera shots and your editing has gone up quite a few notches. Well done. Really enjoying this tour and living vicariously through both of you.
Isn't France wonderful when you're not in a hurry, cruising along tree lined (empty) roads and stopping off for coffee's (or in my case fizzy water😅) I'm surprised that you both didn't need a second breakfast after that pompous effort, eggs and jam! 😂
Thanks David - it certainly is a wonderful country to take your time through (we’re never in a hurry!) - you can keep Michelin star restaurants, we’d rather have a biker cafe! 👍😀
Looking for doggie sitters? Trusted House Sitters might be an option for your future travels. Not on commission I promise - just sitters ourselves and fans of your channel 😊
Thank you for watching our adventures ☺️ Coincidentally we have just discovered Trusted House Sitters. Our first experience was fab and we’ve already booked again!😀👍
You guys were just a few tents down from our small group. As I walked past, I recall being impressed at your choice of bikes (as in husband and wife having different brands). Love the video and have subbed the channel.
Bit commercial and sanitised for me. Try the Farmyard Party at Duncomb Park in Yorkshire. Beautiful country estate on the edge of Helmsley. £50 for the whole wknd, with thirty bands playing across four marquees and a great array of food stalls and biking gear stalls. Plus you are supporting motorcyclists rights as its a MAG event.
My wife and myself are now retired and have motorcycle toured in Europe for over 30 years this year it was for a month. Even as we are heading to our state pension age we still get the same sense of excitement and adventure we first enjoyed many moons ago and will keep doing it till we can't. Keep riding keep having fun🏍️👍
I am so glad you made it there this year, just a bit disappointed that I did not see you there, I would have definitely said hello. There is so much all going on at the same time you have to plan who you want to listen to etc, I saw Richy Vida a few times with the missenden flyer but never got to listen to his talk or get to say hello. This was my 4th time and for the first time I took my bike (a brand new Himalayan 450) around the Bridgestone trail - first time off road too. It was not without incident but that’s what we ride for haha. I am also of a certain age but I don’t mind camping as my tent I can stand up in too (helps being a short ass lol) Maybe I will see you next year
Thank you - it’s a shame we didn’t get to meet you too! As you say there’s so much going on it’s difficult trying to get round every stand and speaker. Congratulations on taking the Himalayan on the trails 👍 we’re definitely going next year so hopefully see you then! 😀👍
would of been great to meet you guys, we were there for the 4 days and stayed in my semi converted van - works really well, its a great festival but a long way from the highlands! Another cracking video guys
Thanks very much Bob - it would have been great to see you too! Maybe next year? - a converted van sounds great but that’s a hell of a trek from the North! 😀👍
Good to see you both back. I'm going that route in August, looks totally pooo at Plymouth off. Why don't they cater for bikers. Utter shit lol glad you guys are back. 😂😁 currently in Cambodia and Thailand and Vietnam touring. So keep up the good vidios
This year’s Glamping area was about 8 mins walk from the food stalls and some of the bars - it’s all pretty accessible but it is a huge area. Well worth going! 😀👍
I wish I'd known you were at ABR. I was there and have been watching your video as using a G650 GS to do a multi-month tour and would have loved to get your advice for a long tour with that bike.
Hi both. Hats off to Sue for trying the glamping. However, having toured and camped, there gets a point where you need home comforts and camping in any form doesn't provide this. And...... the trudging to the loo at 0300 is no fun. Stick with your hotels/AirBnB. It's the way forward! Enjoyed as always. 😎👆
Thank you 🙏 yes, we think that’s definitely the way forward 😂 we’ve tried the camping/glamping experience but it’s en suite from now on - thanks for watching! 😀👍
