Motorcycle Trip to Barcelona on a BMW 1250 GSA and Triumph Tiger 900 - Final Episode

This final episode sees us leave the delightful city of Pamplona and head North over the Pyrenees and across the border to France. Our plan was to spend a couple of relaxing days in Biarritz, a city we were due to visit for a friend's wedding during Covid, but travel restrictions put paid to that. We decided as we were so close it made sense to finally make the short hop across the border.
Our first stop was going to be the seaside and surfing resort of Anglet for a spot of lunch and a quick visit to The Beach House (the actual wedding venue). The weather was glorious and in the low 30's by the time we arrived.
Biarritz is only a 20 minute ride from Anglet and we spent a lovely couple of days enjoying wandering its attractions including a delicious dinner in a French/Spanish restaurant we happened across.
Sadly, the weather wasn't on our side the following day when we head to Bilbao for our final stop! In fact, an hour outside of Bilbao , the heaven's opened up and we got a soaking - we made the mistake of changing into our riding jeans because of the previous day's heat and paid the price! We chose the fairly nondescript hotel as it was reasonably convenient to reach the Santander ferry the following day. And so we ended our "Long Road to Barcelona" tour having a had a great time with the family and enjoyed some great riding and great food!

Just wanted to echo a lot of the positive comments that have gone before. It’s a real treat to sit down in the morning with a cup of fresh brewed coffee and watch your adventures. Particularly like your inclusion to review the hotels. As a motorcyclist I do feel parking is an important factor when it comes to security and can swing a decision whether or not to stay at a particular place. Thank you for all your hard work in putting this content together, but more importantly it seems you two enjoy what you do. Continue to ride safe and stay well.

Parting is such sweet sorrow. This was such a perfect trip for viewers in Northern Europe, where the weather is still cold and wet. Sue proved her genius once again , replacing the microphone foam and confirmed my intuition that you burn more calories peeling the shrimp than they actually provide😅. My wife and myself are now retired and have motorcycle toured in Europe for over 30 years this year it was for a month. Even as we are heading to our state pension age we still get the same sense of excitement and adventure we first enjoyed many moons ago and will keep doing it till we can't. Keep riding keep having fun🏍️👍

Another enjoyable vlog from you and well edited, some very interesting coastal areas covered by you both, great to see the trees all full of leaves before autumn sets in. I remember Bilbao for us from the cruise terminal was a pleasant visit and then a short journey by coach let us walk by the river Nervión towards the city and back on the opposite side, we really enjoyed it, just thought I'd add this as some viewers may think that Bilbao is just another industrial estate.😊 Ride safe.

Great episode Bry and Sue. I live half an hour from Biarritz and you presented the region very well. They don't like the term Spanish where you were, they are Basques in the extreme. I went to watch a match Spain v Germany in San Sebastian and nobody wore a Spain shirt, it was weird. If you are in this neck of the woods again you are welcome to stay in my holiday apartment ( which has a covered balcony for drying ! ) I enjoy your travels but today instead of finishing the oil and filters change on my GS I watched your vlog, thanks, much more enjoyable.

Man, we came into Bilbao late on a work day and the traffic was fast and manic! Can not imagine what it would have been like in the pouring rain. I notice that you do not have helmet mounted cameras. Agree totally! Can not stand them. Well, another excellent adventure presented in a slick and entertaining video. Thank you.

I got soaked, going to the Tail of the Dragon. I tried using a hair dryer in my boots, but that overheated. I found that shoving a hand towel in each boot had them dry in a couple of hours.

Always enjoyable did picos last year first time ever it was fantastic. Can’t recommend it enough. with your ticket you can leave the port and spend time in Santander which was pretty good which a few of the bikes waiting to board didn’t know about. My main question is I only had a uk number plate sticker like yourselves,one you tube channel says you must have a big uk one which can be read from space as the spainish plod are hot on it.I didn’t have any problems have you in your travels had any ? just to say pop tastic again look forward to your next jaunts

Excellent as usual. Biarritz is probably my wife's favourite place in all of France so I called her in to see that bit. She asked me to see if you could remember the name and location of the restaurant you were the "first customers" in for an evening meal. By the way we have stayed in all grades and types of hotels in Biarritz over the years and the running theme is the small size of the hotel rooms and that includes the Hotel du Palais. Keep up the good work. What are the plans for 2024?

Another cracking episode, sorry to here about the substandard hotel rooms but hey rough with the smooth and all that. I was under the impression that Rukka laminate kit is 100% waterproof, is that not the case? Good to be back in blighty as that Spanish music does my head in!

Thanks David 🙏 the hotel rooms can often be hit and miss but as you say, the rough with the smooth! The Rukka’s were fine, we made the mistake of risking our jeans on that leg 😳 - we love the Spanish music 🎶!😀👍

I've said it in another comment section but for an average vacation rider your channel is great, info about the route with maps, and the details about hotels with prices. I'm thinking about linking to your channel when i have a reason to comment on someones moto-channel. The only thing i think you could do(for the viewer) is to cut some of the minutes riding, when you do have the map etc i'm not sure adding all the small towns in the clip is necessary. If you do it for yourself firsthand go for it! but to me as a viewer it can get a bit excessive.. I quickly skipped through it again just to find an example, between 25-30 min is a part that could have been cut if you keep the map of the route.. But it cannot be said enough, more of the youtubers should watch your videos and copy some stuff. Most people are not likely to do more extreme stuff and benefits more from the hotel reviews and stuff like that. I think some youtubers forget that others don't travel full time, and have unlimited time to spend on obscure places in tents or to get a lot of help because a few people recognize them.. Hope you get to do more trips in the future!

No puedo dejar de ver vuestro canal: mi completa admiración. Llegué por casualidad, buscando información sobre la Triumph Tiger 900, y estoy casi decidido a comprarla. Mi única duda es por el calor que desprende el motor, según comentarios de algunos propietarios: en España hace mucho calor en verano (creo que eso ya lo sabes), aunque el verano es la época del año en que menos monto en moto, y es por el excesivo calor. No sé si podéis hacer algún comentario al respecto. Por cierto, vivo en el interior de Castilla, una zona calurosa.

Hi both, I’ve been reading the Brittany ferry biker advice and it says in Spain Bluetooth head sets are prohibited. I also think having to have “uk” other than on the number plate is a little petty, I don’t know what your thoughts are? ( I’m off to Pico’s in September)

Hi, we’ve never come across the Bluetooth issue 🤷 although we think it would be virtually impossible to enforce - also we don’t have separate UK stickers and never had a problem! Hope you have a brilliant Picos tour, it’s a fantastic place to ride! 😀👍
