Motorcycle Wheel Stands 

This is probably the best homemade solution I've found so far, after days of looking at DIY solutions online. Of course, you still had to buy a lift, but my understanding is that I can use a regular hydraulic lift floor jack instead of spending the $100 for a lift. All in all, I believe I will be following your example and using it for storage as well, utilizing just the frame, to keep the wheels of the floor.

I have been thinking of doing something similar because I do not have room for a table lift. Great video! Thank You Sir 👍👍

Paul, you are a genius. You have invented a great and damn simple solution to a huge everyday problem.

I just made a set of these and drained my oil. So much easier to loosen the drain plug while I can see it. That alone made it worth it. Thanks, Paul! This is fantastic.

Ingenious! Stumbled across this after hours of trawling through loads of videos. Easy to make and perfect for what I'm looking to do. The main thing I've found is that it does become difficult to do things like change the oil and oil filter as most stands seem to obstruct access (I have a 2009 Triumph Speedmaster). Thank you, Paul. I made these stands and I have been using them for a couple of years now. I have a V. Vision, and my friend has the XCT. I also built him the trunk holder. He keeps the hanger in his trailer. We have both benefitted from the access these provide. Thanks for all the great ideas.

That was terrific. I saw this when I was working out how to remove the rear wheel for a new tyre. I held my breath when you lowered it onto the stands but of course there was no issue. Thank you for all your tricks of the trade Paul. Chris HB

Excellent idea, Paul. I built a set of stands for the winter project work on my Cross Country. The only thing I did differently was add another 2" of height on the kickstand box so the bike sits more upright, Works great.

Awesome idea. Exactly what I need. I had to remove my air ride a few times and the jack always gets in the way. Now it'll be much easier, especially when changing my transmission fluid. Mahalo from Hawaii.

Paul that is awesome! I have to get my bike in the air this winter to pull the kickstand the left side pipe just for a good cleaning, and I'm going to pull the fairing off and add some goodies that I bought this summer. that last part of the two by four with the eye bolts through it is simply ingenious . Sturdy and safe.I will build these. thank you. Jeff

Neat! If the wheel blocks were nesting, you could lift the bike and put it on blocks, then add a block to the lift, lift it higher and put it on a 2nd set of blocks.

Nice! I _kind_ of do that with some wood blocks to gain a few centimetres (an inch?) of ground clearance. Always great to see you!

Brilliant !!!!!. Tx - made these today for FB Harley ,will do first oil change .Didn’t cut slots for 2/4 for rear one though ,didn’t make one for kickstand either. Will it be safe with front only 2/4 in slot and strapped , with little bit of force to loosen and tight drain plugs ?

Paul, would you say that this would be a good way to store the bike over the winter? I think that wood would be softer than concrete, so it would avoid flat spots on the tires? Or, maybe for winter storage, throw a piece of underlayment/particle board on the upper surface of each stand, just for additional give? I love all of your videos, but wow, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this one!

I had one immediate concern when thinking of your design. With "rubber" touching the ground while resting on the kick stand there is very little risk of bike falling down (on level ground), but lets say using your blocks... the rubber is touching the blocks, but the wood is touching the ground. There is a lot less friction between the wood and the concrete than the rubber and the concrete. Any instability with the bike using this method?? Other than that being my only concern, I am going to build a set of these for myself... I will probably add rubber strips under the 2x4's to make sure that they really "bite" once weight is on them. Great idea!

If you rolled the bike up the car ramps (one under each wheel) and had a wooden box for the kickstand...Do u think that would work? Plus it would be a bit higher up. Rolling a heavy bike up the ramp might be tricky but probably doable. Have u tried it?

I was afraid of bending the pipes and damaging the engine at the bottom of the bike when sliding the jack into the bottom of the bike and jacking it up. Please advise. Thanks.

At last a great idea to get the bike off the ground so you can work underneath with plenty of clearance. you should patent your idea.

Hi Paul, I have a 2013 Cross Roads and I’ve been challenged every oil change to get the oil filter off because I couldn’t get a wrench between the bike and the floor. I built your stands yesterday and believe the problem is solved. How did you install the eye bolts in the 2x4. Thanks for sharing.

I Paul, I really like your videos. I'm am pretty new in the "do it yourself" art of jacking up your motorcycle. Can you tell me how stable is the motorcycle when it's on the jack only? I mean I would like to replace the tires by myself but I am not sure if I should put on straps or some other stabilizing devices to make sure the bike wont fall down on the side. :)

Such a great stand Paul! I'm going to start building one this week. I have to ask...that rear tire...is that a small car tire fitted to your bike? If so, does it hold corners well? How did you fit it to your Vic? I have a 2016 Vic CCT and need to replace my rear tire...that tire of yours is sure a nice thought!

Paul, I have the same bike and getting an enclosed trailer built currently to haul it behind an RV. Where are your recommended strapdown points/angles for the XCT? How far apart were yours on this stationery stand?
