CVT is always better than AMT. AMT will feel that car changing gears but CVT is very smooth if driving is good.

AMTs do not use the clutch for gear shifts. ECU blips the engine to sync the flywheel speed to the required gearbox speed and locks the cog. Much like what our town bus drivers do. It uses the clutch only during idiling.

Your presentations are really appreciable and I am following you whenever I get free time. In October 2017, I purchased Baleno alpha CVT. It is a great car with absolutely smooth drive. As you said I do a steady driving not pushing it too much and it behaves very sweet. Though Maruti is claiming 21.4 kms (ARAI), I am getting only 12.5 kms max now. I had clocked around 2500 kms and first service is over and waiting for the second service at 5000 kms. Though I am not fussy abt mileage, why I am getting such a low mileage and will it improve (to some extent) as claimed by Maruti?. Like to hear your comments,

Sir, I prefer to buy a CVT over an AMT, I have a Tiago AMT , BRV CVT & Amaze CVT. AMT gives me a better pick up and the flexibility of holding onto a gear, but the head nod and the hesitancy to go ahead in stop go traffic esp when on an up slope, comes on my nerves. CVT does not have that hesitancy, and when I am spending almost 10lakhs for a car, I would go for ease of driving. (90% of my driving is in Mumbai city). Nicely explained.

Some CVT boxes include a torque converter also, Nissan and Honda CVT cars give better mileage. Replacing CVT belt is expensive. But CVT car is easy to drive. Please advise after reviewing CVT and amt cars that have done one lakh KM's. I think amt cars demand early clutch replacement (12k kms) and CVT cars need CVT belt replacement at 49k or 50k KM's.

As for as maintenance is concern CVT is simple n cheap only belts change where as if ur AMT gearbox is malfunction complete gearbox will be opened anx it will cost around 50 thousand rupees

CVT is much older then Manual Transmission/AMT. It was born at around 1890, CVT is very simpler, have fewer parts, low maintenance than MT/AMT. Speed is totally dependent on the pulley sizes, belt travel and it can deliver infinite gear ratios as compared to MT/AMT which has fixed gear ratios. CVT is much fuel efficient even at higher speeds compared to MT/AMT/DCT (even racing cars are having CVT with paddle shift like Honda, Mazda, Toyota etc.). Only downside of CVT is it's belt, it can wear faster at extremely higher speeds above 6000 RPM, and it is slightly lagging to transferring the torque at initial stage due to belt slippage. According to me CVT is far much better than AMT in all ways.

CVT is best compare to AMT. CVT has peddle shifters (speed boosters) to instantly increase pickup on hi way or overtake. Which is absent in AMT. also CVT gives more milage highway compare to AMT. It's true for JAZZ.

I am driving Hyundai Verna 2018 with automatic transmission. Its performance is matchless in city as well as on highways.

thougu we feel "disconnected" in automatic as v r habitual of direct manual control but automatic is more friendly and smooth... in acceleration and smoothness cvt is much superior than amt, but costly.

Rahat ji I am using AMT duster Using AMT is very frustating, some times it appears that as spastic chid do not have control over his body to perform the same way engine and AMT transmission behave when you are in mid range of any gear and you push the accelerator than, what happens , Instead of accelerating suddenly AMT shifts lower gear instead of moving ahead to keep in the same gear and move ahead the gear box requures manual mode shift this AMTgear box is utter nonsence waste of money and may be useful for the learners or seneor citizens who exclusively drive slow steady and never overtake

In CVT fuel consumption is less while driving in traffic area

CVT stands for Continuous Variable Transmission, this transmission doesn't produce jerk. take an example like... have you ever travelled in delhi metro....the speed is continuously increasing without any jerk feeling. or we can say that in CVT transmission there is only one gear to operate the vehicle. AMT is automatic transmission. gear shifting is done according to speed. 0-30 km/hr first gear. 30-50 second gear. 50-70 third gear. 70+++ fourth onwards. At every gear shifting it produces light jerk. AMT performs best in cars like I20 elite, grand I10, verna, fortuner, ecosport etc..

bro video is good but amt is slow jerky and yes it is economical but it cant beat the refinement of CVT but yes CVT will cost you more but its worth every money ..India have both kind of consumers enthusiasts and normal people so if you want speed and economy go for cvt like honda city and if you want huge economy over performance go for amt.

Hi, Nice info. Can the manual mode in AMT give almost the similar fun and enthusiasm in riding as the manual gearbox itself gives? Confused between duster manual and AMT? Do they both get 0 to 100kmph in same time? I know the auto/D mode gives you jerky and lazy ride but I am curious about manual mode in ATM

AMT is a transmission that is pretty jerky and can be quite annoying at times. During sudden acceleration it has a tendency to downshift when it may not really be required. Secondly, the gear shift is much slower than what it should be, resulting in higher fuel consumption in a city commute. One has to actually put in a good amount of manual effort with AMT transmission if you want better fuel efficiency whereas CVT is a ‘pure’ automatic.

Nice Video👌 The only downside of AMT which i foresee is, whenever the gear changes automatically the people sitting side the car receive a forward push (dhakka lagta hai). This doesn't happen in CVT the gear changes are smooth for e.g. the way gear changes in honda activa...u never know the gear changes. On the other hand the the AMT gears changes are like Bajaj discover bike😬 u feel the change in gear the hard way. Anyways if you can bear that, AMT is the best as is it economical & you use the money for fuel or buy a better variant as said in the video.

Amt is better just becoz actual gear drive it is rather than belt drive where power is lost much.. also engine with more power have smoother operations in amt.. smaller engines are nt suitable for comfy ride coz of head nod n jerkiness

Hey hi Rachit bhai, i been following your videos from couple of months. You are making awesome videos. we just bought Swift vxi Amt yesterday. however, unhappy after driving for just 30 mins. Reason, my right leg pain due to fact that i have u keep my leg most of the time on breaks to keep the vehicle from not moving ahead. It is a lot lot more painful than changing gears. Vehicle is moving even on neutral, which i didn't expect at all and my bad didn't notice this in my short test drive. pls provide any suggestions/ thoughts Rachit bhai to overcome this issue.
