Hi Bob that's good information for lot off them out there I seen some motor homes well over weigh anyone can get pull in any time . take care Bob and jenny & poppy .
Hi Bob, as you know I'm an articulated Truck driver. Don't forget that the 2000 kg trailer weight is with a Braked Trailer..ie it has its own braking system like a caravan and NOT like a Halfords Type Trailer! Also remember the individual axle weights as shown on the VIN plate. I doubt anyone would exceed the rear axle weight of 2000kg. This is where the most weight can be carried but always best to load and have the weight evenly distributed.
Excellent vlog Bob, it is frightening how many people with Motorhomes & caravans just load everything in & don’t realise the serious implications of vehicle weights & being found overweight until your standing at the roadside with a DVSA (ministry) official scrutinising your VIN plates.
Great information! A lot of folks don't look at the numbers. I have seen some pretty sketchy RV's heading down the road that you can see they are overloaded. Accidents waiting to happen. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video Bob, well done. Just taken delivery of our motorhome today, seems they drove it with a full tank of water all the way from Nuneaton to Bristol, they must've forgotten after servicing it. May start loading it up tomorrow.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Unfortunately, there's no manual's and I think it's got some kind of air suspension as there's an up down switch which when activated I get the sound of a small compressor and a gauge next to the switch starts showing a pressure in bars. Any ideas what it does?
@@davidtanslow3584 never had air suspension myself, but it blows up some airbags under your rear suspension the higher the pressure, the harder the suspension will be. There should be something to let the air out too. Did the dealer not do a video or something to explain how things work? You may beable to download manuals if the dealer cannot help you.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo We knew about the air suspension but couldn't find anything near the springs. I'll have another look tomorrow if weather permits. I've a feeling it may be just a single air unit as there's only one gauge and the down switch lets the air out. Will check the manufacturers for any manuals and contact the supplier as they have a stall every year at the NEC Caravan show. I've found two leisure batteries next to the spare wheel as it's got quite a lot of modifications because it's kitted out for a wheelchair user. Donyou think autotrail fitted solar panels on all their motorhomes?
Just hope the boys in blue are watching this. It's something that can be easily overlooked as I am guilty of packing everything including the kitchen sink. Hope you get a goodnights sleep and your op goes OK tomorrow. I am sure Nurse Jenny will look after you and tend to all your needs. Guy
Dear Bob, thank you very much for the informative video. You mentioned some more basics videos coming up. I missed your Q&A requests, but was wondering what your views were when parked up in a public car park, NT property, castle or similar and gone out for the day, do you close all the blinds or leave them open to show you are not hiding anything? Finally, we wish you the very best for tomorrow. Kind regards, Tom
Not at all daft, the VIN doesn't give away any personal details just the make and model of the vehicle. Anyone can read the VIN if they look in the windscreen of your vehicle, same as your number plate really. I'm about to put great big stickers on the side of the van and roof, too that include the VIN.
