This is my version of a motorized trailer dolly or trailer tug. Built from a winch and the carcass of a dead rototiller. Sprocket Source: www.nitrochain... Controller/Solenoid: www.amazon.com...
Ben, Thanks for the video. I am also working on converting an old Troybuilt to be a tug. What did you settle on for sprocket sizes? And chain? 35, 40 or 50? I know the wheel shaft already had a sprocket, but how many teeth? 32? And you purchased 2 sprockets for the winch, how many teeth on the one you decided worked best for you?
Hey Laser, thanks for watching. It was a 40 size chain, which i selected just to match the tiller drive sprocket. I'm not sure on the number of teeth on the tiller part- 34 maybe? The sprockets on the winch side were 15 and 20 tooth. I settled on the bigger size, but either would have worked, I think. Probably depends on your trailer size and how far you gotta go with it. If I were to do it again, I'd pick a bigger winch motor for longer duty cycle, but I was doing it on the cheap.
