Interesting device, I had not heard of this one before. I'm using the Garmin Inreach mini 2 on kayak trips myself. It can also be used for messaging through the phone like with the Defy, and I can also send waypoints or routes from the phone to the Inreach to use it as a gps device. The plans are a little expensive, but it includes unlimited "check-in" messages with the location.
Thanks for the review. I hadn't heard about this device before. I am assuming that the text messages you sent over satellite were coming from a different address/phone number than your cell phone text messages? So people would use different numbers to send to this device than to your regular phone messaging?
