I tried this phone along with every other flagship phone in Best Buy a week ago... I was blown away by the design, the handfeel, the ease of use, the screen, the speakers, snappy camera... I could not tear myself away from watching music videos, and I didn't even hear the associate approaching because it was so loud! But horizon lock in this video has blown my away. That's the party trick every phone needs to stand out. I will look at some camera tests, but unless it's abysmal I will be getting this phone.
I bought this phone since 2 weeks ago, and the battery last you a day or two depends what you're doing. I don't really don't need to charge it during the night because the battery is still full from day before like that's great.
@@muaschee2314 Thanks for the comment! I tried this and several other phones at the mall today... once again I just wanted to keep using this. I think that's a good as test as any so I'm unboxing it now!
apparently this one is promised 3 years of OS updates, and 4 years of security updates, not as good as OnePlus and Samsung's 4-year OS, 5-year security updates, but this is a start!
@@rmendez011 It's good enough for me, that about what the Pixel's offer and the one plus side to getting a Motorola over a pixel or Galaxy is you can find them steeply discounted only 3 months after they launch. Honestly this things a S23 Ultra fighter and Boost mobile has it on sale for 400$ already! Literally less then a 128GB Pixel 7A for a 512GB Flagship, it might have its shortcomings but that's a hell of a deal for this Edge+!!!
@@rmendez011every two years i buying a new phone because it becomes boring for me and now i have moto edge 40 and 2 years of software update is all i need.
@@FuSiMentorI have the 5g stylus 2022 and wanting to move up. Is the edge+ 2023 really worth the 800 bucks? I miss having the duel speakers and idk of the camera on that edge is any better at night. Both 50mp camera
Currently using the 2022+ Edge Plus 512gb I got from boost mobile for $199 only prepaid. It's dirt cheap and I just set it up for an 8 dollar plan per month coz who needs unlimited data on the go. It's just a waste for me I'm always busy at work so can't use all those unlimited data being offered by many telcos here in the US. At home, we have xfinity for the phone all other devices. I'll pass on this 2023 model though. I hate curved screens. It's kinda difficult finding a good protector for those.
Motorola is seriously dominating the market this year Samsung better be scared & feels threatened, I hope Moto enters the tablet Market, and fold phones, i cannot wait to see what they will bring for us
You know, I wish motorola would make a standard phone, flat screen, 120Hz, latest qualcomme processor with that industrial and understated design, which I personally like, and that software. I would seriously consider a phone like that since we really don't have phones with close to stock android that are stable. Nonetheless I hope to see a full review of this phone on this channel soon. thanks for this unboxing, Tim.😊
Precisely what Luis said ^ Been rocking the 2022 version for a year with no complains (other than lack of case selection). But this sucker has 512gb of storage, 144hz, oled, fantastic battery life, and 65w fast charging.
Bro the Moto Edge 2022 is what you're looking for, I hate they haven't released Android 13 on it yet after promising 3 os updates but I love the phone and to me A13 isn't really that different from 12 anyway. 144hz refresh rate, 6.6 inch Oled display, it's 95% stock Android with Motorola's dope gestures. I want this new edge plus but I'm good with what I have, been using it since October 2022 and haven't had any issues other than Apple Music acting up sometimes.
I've been waiting for a true flagship from Motorola. This I hope is a legit Galaxy and iPhone competitor. Bought it direct from Motorola, waiting on delivery.
I have a Moto 2022 Edge plus and it's a great phone. I was planning on buying a new Moto edge, but the curved screen is a deal breaker. There is no good fitting glass protection and cases for any curved screen phone. Curved screens, although they look good, are made to break.
Just got this flagship and its easily one of the best flagships on the market. I find it just crazy that there maybe 3 to 4 reviews of on youtube. Maybe because its the US versioj of the Edge 40 Pro but there are a couple small differeences. Nonetheless for some reason the Edge Plus 2023 seems to have flown totally under rhe radar. The specs are incredible and surpsss the likes of Samsung for example and can be had on sale for only $599. I ended up paying $474 for mine open box and nonthing hsd been touched inside. Best Buy. Just goes to show truly how grossly overpriced, Samsung, Google, and Apple are in the US. Just doesnt make any logical sense other than the mass consumer overpaying for the name brand rather than the phone smd its equal to and or if not better than incredible specs. Just crazy and rather sad.
New to the channel. I just ordered this phone. From the video it looks really good. I am changing from the z flip 3 5g. I switched because of it being an edge. I watch a lot of videos on my phone so the screen interested me the most. I am really excited about this phone. Can't wait to get it.
That's what I bought it for mainly is the movies and watching videos on the edge to edge screen. I'm okay with the camera I'm no photo pro so the occasional snap and if it comes out somewhat decent I'm happy.
It's the exact same phone with the exception being the 40 Pro having up to 12GB of RAM, the option for 256gb or 512gb of storage, smaller battery, 125 watt charging. Or to keep it simple. The Edge+ (2023) is the U.S. variant of the 40 Pro
With the horizon lock can you take videos holding the phone vertically, like you can with some action cams?? Holding the phone vertically is much easier than holding it horizontally when taking a video.
So not wifi calling or 5G on AT&T, forget about updates like my Last year Edge plus is stuck in Android 12 with security updates delayed plus not always on display??? 🤣🤣
It gets 3 years of updates. Also, there's always on display, it's just not called that in motorola, it's called peek display which to me is better than samsungs AOD. I have a feeling you just don't like motorola phones?
If its a snapdragon 8 gen 2 chip it has 5G capabilities out the box. In addition its fully unlocked, so you can use on any carrierr that offers sim card or E-Sim.
Last thing I wanted to see was a fingerprint unlock in the screen. Always better to have it in the button like 2022 - that was a mistake. Otherwise a very underrated phone.
Nah the screen fingerprint unlock is better. The button unlock ones always get dirty, easily having to make you work to use your phone then to just unlock and use it. While the screen one I just wipe the screen quick and it unlocks I went from the previous one to this one and is so much easier to just lift the phone and unlock to use.
@@Breakerisaac It's a matter of preference. I prefer a tactile unlock to an optical screen unlock. Never on any tactile unlock have I had a " dirt " issue - that's a new one for me. Don't doubt you - but I've never heard that
I'm pretty sure this phone is known to be Motorola edge 40 pro in other countries it comes with 125 watt charger although the 40 pro has a 4600 mAh battery ??
@@AminNazari666features that aren’t 5 years old claiming to be groundbreaking, a price tag less than 1200$, an operating system that isn’t completely controlled by Kim Jong Un himself, sideloading, useful apps, mediocre apps aren’t 16.99$, the alarm clock works and you can use third party ones, settings can be tweaked for pretty much everything. Man I can go on and on, I’m leaving iPhone for good, the last straw was pulling money from my bank several times yesterday and banning my Apple ID when customer service told me to kick rocks and I hit them with that chargeback for nearly 100$. Fuck Apple, and fuck Tim Crook
I'm still rocking the regular Moto One 5g with Android 11 on it. It's starting to lag a little, but overall it still works decently. The camera sucks though 😂
Good morning. I have a Motorola Edge Plus 2020 and I say it's an excellent device. Now I intend to update myself and I spent the new Motorola Edge Plus and I intend to buy it when it arrives in my country.🇧🇷
dammit i was so close to buying this till i seen it has a curved screen....i like to use screen protectors so i prefer my screens to be flat....curved screens dont like protectors on them and the glue on ones are a real PITA to removed after they have been on for a few years....my oneplus 7t screen got messed up bad thanks to a glue on screen protector removal....
They are making for opting for poleds. 1-120 dynamic refresh rate is the thing now with above 4000 nits max brightness and good colour gamut. Take an example of OnePlus 12. Otherwise for the rest Motorola is doing great! Props for the battery life, fast charging and ip68, keep it up.
I have a Motorola moto g stylus 2023 4G LTE 720P LCD 50MP Smartphone model and it's absolutely amazing though I did have some problems but there fixed now I also get a 90Hz display which is awesome 👍
Can't believe Motorola is underrated. It's not perfect but I'm not looking for the perfect phone It's a promising device honestly. It feels premium to. Better than buying those 1200 to 1400 dollar phones. Such as Samsung and IPhone.
I know this flagship falls a little short of the others when it comes to cameras but the cameras are still very good and above average. Other than that this is a perfect smartphone It is the best phone I've ever had coming from an iPhone 13 pro max. The fast charger in the box and 512 GB of on board storage standard was what sold me. I also only purchased the phone for $600 on locked at Best buy brand new. I like to get new phones every year I really hope Motorola comes out with an edge Plus 2024 I will definitely be upgrading if they do.
The best phones I ever had were Motorola going back to like 1997. They always have the best call quality they didn't have the best specs and they've always had the worst cameras. I buy Samsung because they get the most updates which Motorola really lags in but I love Motorola I wish they made better phones
Bang for the Buck device?? Liste the S22 ultra are almost the same price and is better....I just got This phone at Bestbuy and Not 5G,Not Wifi Calling,Not always on Display, and forget about updates like last year Moto edge plus is stuck in Android 12
@@Cubano2031 I have the regular edge 30 here in India. I have 5g on both my sim cards. Wifi calling works flawless. Got Android 13 a few days ago. Even the 2022 edge plus which is sold here as Edge 30 pro has got Android 13.
@@madworker1927 I'm not spreading lies! I have the Phone.....in the US the last Moto edge plus doesn't have Android 13 yet...And i have AT&T and this phone doesn't have 5G,wifi calling or Hotspot working as right now! What are you talking about??? Watch your mouth before you call others liar
I've been using Samsung phones since 2008. I fact if it wasn't for 5G I would still be using the excellent Note 8. I still use it as a sort of mini jukebox. A couple of years ago I upgraded to the s22 Ultra. I was shocked to find out that Samsung decided to eschew the sd slot. I thought I could live with the 128 gigs of memory but this proved a lot more difficult than anticipated. I store a lot of music and photos on my phone. This immediately became a problem as I quickly ate up 99 percent of the phone's storage capacity. Files and playlists started mysteriously disappearing and I found myself constantly sacrificing apps and pictures just to keep 4 to 5 gig available. The Edge plus solves all these problems. It may not have all the features of the Galaxy but most people don't utilize half of their phone's capabilities anyway. So long Samsung. I'll miss you...probably.
Update: This phone does not have an SD card slot although with 512gb of memory you'd probably never need one but I'm seeing information claiming that this thing will support up to a 1 tb sd card. In fact I'm pretty sure the website mentioned support for type 2, 4 and 6 class cards. Maybe I misread but be forwarned. The tray only supports a Sim card.
I have a Motorola moto g stylus 2023 4G LTE 720P LCD 50MP Smartphone model and it's absolutely amazing though I did have some problems but there fixed now I also get a 90Hz display which is awesome 👍
Everybody do yourself a favor and don't get moto, I recently got a new moto phone because my old moto was kicking me out of my apps and 3 months later the new MOTOROLA phone is STILL doing the same damn thing. Save yourself the pain and don't get Motorola the whole company is a sham
Dated phone design, garbage os updates, and terrible cameras in comparison to its competitors….. Why anyone would buy this phone over a pixel is crazy to me! Though,…….the os is still great even though you’ll get minimal inconsistent updates, The cameras aren’t bad just below the competition, And the rest of the specifications for the money is great. This just isn’t anything special to the phone market. I wish they’d try something different than just surviving in the market.
I have a Motorola moto g stylus 2023 4G LTE 720P LCD smartphone and it's absolutely amazing it was having a some issues but there resolved and fixed now
A little fun fact is Motorola was bought out by Lenovo in 2014 which is why all Motorola follows Lenovos high end look and design language. I've always owned Motorola and won't switch just because of the fact I love all the gestures and little features they give you. Plus you cannot beat how much shit you get for the price compared to other brands!
Does it have face recognition? And what do the emojis look like. I'm upgrading mine so I want to make sure I get the same or better before I spend my money because I love mine now. Also, is the flashlight shake on, and screenshot with 3 fingerprints. I'm sorry lol.
Anyone else with this phone have issues with the smart text selection feature recognizing addresses? When holding a finger down on an address it should automatically highlight the address and give an option to open the address in "Maps", but it's not working. Purchased phone 1 month ago, did a few factory resets, made sure I installed all updates, cleared data for the Android system intelligence app and so forth, but nothing has worked.
Short answer is Yes. Long answer it's usually located under the SIM option in your phone if you search for it under settings however I Know On my current phone I can do that which is the new Google Pixel 7 pro. I think it was the same On my old Samsung as well. I'm not sure if EVERY phone can do it but I am sure most can.
@@Pandaman94 Thanks. My summer trips are in the UP of MI and no 5G. This phone does it? I like this phone as an upgrade to my Moto E6 which I like, buy only 16 GB internal storage. Even with the Micro SD, too many apps still on internal.
My experience with the edge phones is they're great phones but updating your device from android 11 to android 12 for example causes problems on these phones. And they're forced updates so you have no choice. They have limited support for their phones and the only way you can try to solve a problem is mail in. Get a brand new device with the same problem. THEIR SUPPORT SUCKS. THEIR SOFTWARE IS GARBAGE. And your left with a good phone that's doesn't work and lost it's potential. I have moto edge plus 2022 the update to android 13 caused the high fps to have dark color where you can't see anything in game. In auto fps it flickers. At 60hz it's fine but sucks because now you can't game at high fps. Gametime is useless because of android 13 override of notification control so gametime does stop all notifications when gaming. There's a lot more too to complain about. To sum it up the phones are great their potential is great their software is garbage and can destroy the phone. Flickering is not a small deal it can hurt people with epilepsy.
Agreed. I had the same phone. I could keep my phone display set to Auto where it was always at 60hz except the one game I play, it would go to 144hz. After the update I had to manually keep it in 144hz otherwise the game would stay at 60hz in Auto
This would've been my phone but spectrum had a deal for the google pixel 8 pro that i couldn't refuse if it wasnr for that deal i wouldve bought this phone
I will continue to look forward to the sale of that mobile device globally, it is known that Latin America is generally the last region in the world to receive of Motorola terminals.
