It's insane that these sold so well but you don't see them on the road anymore, but the contemporary lexus units are still rolling
@ic1815
@ic1815 Год назад
Yeah, that’s due in part to the poor corrosion protection and then head gasket failure on these cars.
@laszlopalkonyay4133
@laszlopalkonyay4133 Год назад
Probably the head gasket failures because they didn’t have corrosion problems. Even Lexus or Mercedes rusted faster than these Cadillacs. Rust protection was their strongest point. The rest was not so good…

There's not many contemporary lexus rolling around here at all. You must live in a special part of the country.

Ya’ll are giving this car a hard time considering it’s entire job was catering to traditional luxury buyers. The Seville was the dedicated import style Cadillac.

I know, reviewers say the ride is soft like that's a bad thing.

They almost got this one right. The Northstar should have been more reliable and the interior of better quality. Solid body, slick design, and great comfort were right on tho.

Once the head gasket bolts are upgraded, this Northstar is one of the most reliable engines.

@@alanblanes2876- I have an 01 DeVille and I don’t want to pay 4K to update some bolts. I’m lookin to get a 94-95 DeVille with the 4.9 instead of the Deathstar motor.

The 1986-1993 is an all around better car and feels more like a Cadillac. 1994 was the beginning of the shift towards 2000-2005 and the death of cars that aren't just generic bullshit. 1994 is still a good car, but i'd take any earlier model over it any day for the driving months. As a winter car? I'd gladly take 10.

I will say I do think the 94 is better looking than the 86-93, but the 86-93 is more spacious, easier to service, more reliable, rides better, and has a more comfy interior. GM did continue building the C-Body cars (The platform the 86-93 Deville was based on) in the form of the Buick Park Avenue and Olds 98 until '96. It was a strange time from 94-96 when the Buick and Olds rode better than the Cadillac and had comfier interiors. I get they were going after a more European driving feel, but I thought that was what the Seville was for? Why implement that on the Deville? The car still looked too stodgy to attract import buyers, and yet them trying to make it more European was alienating traditional buyers. Cars like this were really I think what finally were the nail in the coffin for Cadillac's reputation in the US. They are now nothing more than a lame imitation of European luxury cars.

Cadillac was never serious about attracting younger buyers and instead focused on continuing to appeal to its older audience, most of whom are now dead. A fairly obvious course of events, one would have thought.
@sirmoney2762
@sirmoney2762 Год назад
They made the Seville for younger buyers and young executives but the Catera was made for youth a entry level vehicle which did horrible it was basically badge up chevy cavalier and that catera became the Cadillac CTS which in 2003 did phenomenal and still is heavy seller behind Escalade
@richardgroves8565
@richardgroves8565 Год назад
@@sirmoney2762 That's true, but the traditional .Fleetwood and Deville were the cars people always thought of as Cadillac's core product. It seemed to make sense to build these in the short term as Cadillac was able to sell them to older people, but it did long term damage by making it seem like a backward looking brand.

Both engines were garbage, neither one was bulletproof, the front wheel drive Cadillac was constantly plagued by engine problems no matter which engine you're stuck with.

The 4.9 was good but these Northstars were trash and known for overheating! Also they are talking about the 94 which had the 4.9 I don't know why they are saying it had a northstar.
