@@mervinprone Does Nissan even use the VQ35 outside of the Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 these days? I know they switched over to a new ZF 9 speed transmission for those models now and the reviewers are praising it for that.
@@mervinprone The base model Patrol still comes with the 4.0L VQ V6. It's also worth pointing out that the VK V8 on the Titan, Armada, NV series vans, and all other Patrols used the VQ V6 as its base and has many similarities.
New cars do not improving on that era vehicle design.Todays vehicles design do not come close to these era vehicles for practically functionality ,design, economical to own and repair .
I have a 2001 pathfinder for the last 12 years with this motor and a 5 speed. Oil consumption was always a problem but other than that, reliable and powerful. Do not think this is a 4 runner tho
@@MarlosCartinez2001 was the first year of the 3.5 aluminum block v6. So 1st iterations of motors still have bugs that get worked out over time. Honestly, stay away. Its to old regardless of mileage imo. I am at 279000 and am going to buy another suv in 3 months. The pathfinder is is near the end of the path.
@@MarlosCartinez these days when you step on it, yes. Get a Toyota my friend. I had a 91 4runner 4 cylinder 5 speed for years. Head gasket went at 430000 km. Nissan of this century are not like the maximas, pathfinders and 300z of the 90s
I absolutely loved this revised look. Everything about it looks good! I graduated from HS in '96 where I was already driving my own '96 Lexus LX450 SUV. I took a '97 QX4 out for a test drive back in '97. It seemed like a nice ride/drive and comfortable. I didn't recall seeing a lot of them on the road which I liked because of its exclusivity opposed to a Grand Cherokee or Explorer. There was only one thing about it that I did not like, and not be able to get past, and that was its wheel covers. If it looked like this '01 revision, I might have gone forward with its purchase/lease. Better colours. Body cladding. Xenon lights which I did want. Instead of getting an QX4 in '97, I ended up getting a new '98 Lexus LX470 V8 in '98. It was great, but it did have some gremlins with it. In '01, I again went with another new '02 LX470. Toyota gave us a deal for being long-term repeated customers since '89 started with 2 new LS400's and many more models followed. If Infiniti didn't put those awful wheel covers on the first edition QX4, I might have been a loyal repeated customer with them too. Now I've been loyal to Volvo and Mercedes-Benz. XC90 AWD, and E550 4Matic.
