I remember when this Accord came out. I loved how modern and cleanly styled both inside and out it was and I look back twenty years later and see it’s aged well. I can’t stand how big and bloated the Accord got over the years.

Interesting comment considering the gen 7 is when they got bloated.

It was ahead of its time. Other sedans looked at least 6 years older

@@user-xj4jh8ho4x Not really compared to the 8th gen, it grew about 5 inches more in length and was reclassified from midsize to a large sedan by the EPA. The 7th gen was just an inch longer and wider than the 6th gen. The slimmer styling of the 2003 is what I prefer over the gen 8-11 as its got broader with higher hoods, beltlines, and trunk lids.

I got a 2003 Honda Accord EX V6 in February 2004 (stock clearance) as my university graduation gift! It lasted me 350,000 km! The V6 engine was so smooth, powerful and effortless!

So this generation must have marked the year that the Accord gained the reputation of being a sleeper sedan, which is why people are so pissed off that it's going back in the opposite direction. They're losing the car enthusiast demographic they gained during the Accord's 7th generation.

The 0-60 and 1/4 miles times posted for the V6 are really for the 4 cylinder. As a former owner of an '03 V6 Coupe, I can tell you mid-6 seconds to 60 and 1/4 mile in just over 15 was a repeatable norm. This was also backed up by numerous other testing platforms.
@PistonAvatarGuy
@PistonAvatarGuy 10 месяцев назад
Yup, both Road & Track and Car and Driver managed sub 15 second 1/4 mile times with their V6 Accords.

They tested the automatic here! The v6 6speed sedan was low 6 second range.But the Auto V6 was 7.5 to 8 seconds kinda like they said

@@DanielW-wz4gj True. According to the written article, the tests were done with the V6. That said, Motorweek often ends up with the slowest acceleration times out of all of the reviewers in the automotive world.

@@PistonAvatarGuy I understand but you know that the stats from any magazine are not actually accomplished right! All the magazines do a back and forth run to eliminate wind resistance and then they take those two times and average them out,Say they got a 6.7 second 0-60 one way and then they got a 7.1 the other way.That would average out to 6.9 total.And here is what nobody seems to understand.All the magazines then use a mathematical equation to estimate what the vehicle would do at Sea Level. At Sea level every car or truck will perform at it's best. So in reality every magazine 0-60 stat is faster than anyone or anybody will ever get because they didn't even get that time themselves. What they list in these magazines is what they think the vehicle can get in the best conditions.If you read the fine print on these magazine road tests you will see that their acceleration results are mathematically estimated,Not what they really got.

I have a 2005 Accord EX cloth 4 cylinder auto. 282,000 miles all original. Headliner stapled up in spots. Control arm bushings dry rotted but perform fine. Struts etc tight as new. Great mpg. 30 mixed 40 highway. Still has cold air. Maybe it will go 500k? Rather amazing. Power steering O ring 30 cents. Flush and fill. That was the biggie. Original drive belt is dry rotting. Next on to do list.

My dad has an 04 Accord EX leather 4 cylinder auto. 251,000 miles. Headliner is perfect but no ac sadly. Got some quarter owner rust but from the front the car looks brand new. Hopefully it will go to around 500k.

07 SE 4cyl here, I took down and reclothed my headliner with a gray plush blanket, looks good as new. It was a matter of unscrewing all the oh shh handles, visors and map lights and gently prying the shell off. The foam they used back then went to crap and it's now a sticky gum that doesn't hold the cloth. Air doesn't work but I don't care. Just hit 174k and hoping to get to at least 300.

@mtoutside5248 10 месяцев назад
@@vintagetoiletfascination How did you remove the foam? I ruined my perfect headliner attempting to vaccum it. I suspect my sunroof will make things more time consuming
@vintagetoiletfascination
@vintagetoiletfascination 9 месяцев назад
@@mtoutside5248 I was able to take a wire brush over the shell and scratch off all the gunky foam. Of course after peeling off the cloth.

Amazing how long they last when maintained. Obviously not in your case, but I digress.

I owned a 2007 EXL sedan with the 3.0 V6. What a sweet engine. My only regret was not getting the manual.

Glad the restyled rear end looked much better, this one felt like there was two different teams working separately on the car’s design.

I had an '04 Accord. It was a comfortable, smooth ride and it could move (both quick from standstill and to a high speed). I faithfully maintained it. But when it got to about 90k the electrical started to flake including radio/CD and interior dash. Then at 107k transmission died, and Honda said sorry, warranty expired at 100k. Extremely disappointed in that as I had to get a new vehicle when it was only 7 yr old. Been buying Toyotas ever since. My friend had an '03 coupe though that lasted forever, well over 200k.

I was at a dealership that sold both Honda and VW back in 03. I ended up getting a new passat. I was happy with the passat, but both cars were a toss-up in choice for me.

I have the... 2004 ACCORD V6 COUPE 6 SPEED (HFP HONDA FACTORY PERFORMANCE PACKAGE EDITION)!!! The hfp package completely changes the way the coupe looks!!!!! You get a front lip rear lip side skirts spoiler lower stiffer suspension bigger wider Wheels bigger brake package leather heated seats carbon fiber pieces on the interior And let me tell you the regular coupe looks like a basic commuter Grandma car compared to the hfp edition the amount of people that stopped me and asked why mine looks so much different than theirs and what I did to get it to look like that is too many to count...... And most of them can't believe that when I tell them that's how it looks from the factory..... Of course have added coilovers a cold air intake pre-cat deletes j pipe full 2.5 inch exhaust a bigger j37 intake manifold/throttle body off the newer Acura V6 engines And Dyno tuned.. Still a great looking car and I have been able to keep up with and beat quite a few V8 vehicles from around the same era mustang GT Camaros from the early 2000s and the 90s 350Z G35 the list goes on And the newer V6 Accord coupes with the 3.5 l were even faster

I owned a black top of the line Honda Accord EX coupe V6. It was the LAST Honda I purchased. The transmission went out at 75k followed by the power steering pump, followed by the automatic door locks & sunroof & finally the air conditioner. All of those things failed before 85k miles. Then the paint started chipping off making these large white, flaky circles on the black paint. I've been Toyota/Lexus ever since & will never go back to Honda. Toyota/Lexus dominate #1 for being the most reliable & longest-lasting vehicles. Honda/Acura aren't even #2 or #3. The oil dilution problems that plagues the Civic, Accord & CRV should make buying a used Honda a big NO!
