I'm not sure the Fiero running off is a blooper, but rather a depiction of its desired natural state. Mine spent a good percentage of its life telling me all about how it would much rather be frolicking through fields than any kind of boring cornering.
The second shot of the Fiero probably was a blooper, but first shot of the car (where it spins out on the track) was not a blooper; it was used in the road test where they discussed about what happened if you released the accelerator pedal while making an emergency lane change.
It actually shows the Fiero life cycle. When launched in 1984, it was a problematic rush job spinning out of control due to overbudget, while being powered by the anemic Iron Duke. As years go, the model seems to go better, and people believe, it might be better down the road a few model years later, with the V6 coming. By 1988, the Fiero was almost perfected, and a potential 1989 model year would make it perfect. However, just as Fiero seems to finally be a reasonable alternative to a Toyota MR2, GM killed it off, just when the Fiero was about to stop spinning out of control and head the right direction.
@@moparguy5876 have you ever driven a heavy fwd V8? I've had 2 over the years a 73 Toronado and a 96 Cadillac DeVille, they handle quite well, it's nothing like a small fwd car
@@califdad4 they don't get massive understeer and wheelspin? I would think they'd handle worse than a compact 4 cyl because of all the extra weight. But no, the only fwd cars I've driven were all 4 or 6 cyl
If you look closely at 2:40, the guy with the cone on his head dancing is completely unaware that the Mercedes Benz next to him is rolling away unattended. That was funny!
I'm 35 years old and remember the days when I was a kid and would wake up early in the morning and watch john L. Scott real estate shows on TV, fishing shows and motorweek, so coming across the motorweek retro videos is like a blast from the past and it's awesome! Thank you so much for making this channel, I am HOOKED!!
Nice video. Ever thought about doing a 'Where Are They Now' video? I recognized a number of faces that are no longer with Motorweek. It might be interesting to see what they are doing nowadays. Thanks for the memories.
A few years ago they did an anniversary show, I don't remember which, where a lot of the old faces returned to talk about the show. Maybe it's on YT or Maryland Public Television.
John Davis is a goddamn legend, I will never forget this mans voice. :D I love MotorWeek. Definitely up there with the best car shows along with pre-Chris Evans Top Gear
Thank you MotorWeek for posting all these incredible retro reviews! I'm 42 and have loved MotorWeek since I was 10 yrs old. Used to fight with my 2 younger brothers over the tv when they wanted to watch cartoons & I wanted to watch John Davis.
thank you for posting this! my dad used to work at motorweek and ive never gotten to see footage of him until now! he always tells me how much fun he had there.
At 1:40 that's me leaving work, literally do that Friday mornings since I worked nights (Wine warehouse) with some workers being thugs from half way houses.
I love my dad's '84 Cad Eldorado Biarritz and I thought that wipeout was hilarious. But really, when the hell would you ever need to handle the car like that haha
my full childhood was with this motorweek, top gear ⚙️ and fifth gear ⚙️ so many memories. best times ever and best cars ever. now cars are not that exciting and mostly boring and emissions have destroyed cars totally and going EV. have to have lived in the 80’s 90’ and start 2000’s best 30 years ever. thank you for filling my life with joy. so relaxing and exciting always waiting for your show and still do.
1:45 I totally want to get that Incredible Calypso Beverage Holder! What a problem solver! This is probably the invention that caused that old lady to dump boiling coffee from McDonald's on her lap in the 90's and then sue them.
There's a huge can of worms on this; however for the most part I'll say this. She didn't sue at first, nor did mcdonalds regulate coffee temps at the time. Double bad overall.
@@TheEgg185 I do believe it was PBS. Right before it came on, I would watch this sales show from one from our area's largest car dealerships and they would go through all their sales. For some reason I also enjoyed that lol.
Now you see why the Japanese luxury brands took off and the Europeans increased market share while the Caddy fell into the connotation of being nothing but crap.
It shows how crappy cars were in the 80s and most of the 90s. Those were not the good ole days 😆. I have been watching this show before I could drive ( now 40) and still love it. John is the man 👍🏻
It's a trend, automotive related bloopers! Actually not so much a trend since this was posted in 2014, but it is nifty how it showed up in my suggestion box after watching the White Bear Lake Mitsubishi bloopers.
