I owned one of these "Mazdarati's" from 2009-2011. It was a velocity red mica Sport model. I absolutely loved it; it was such a fun car to drive/own. I put 40,000 miles on her in those two years. I bought a set of tires and changed the oil - that's it. I got looks from Legacy 2.5GT owners and 3 series drivers all day (and every day). It was and still is the underdog for mid 2000's "bargain" performance!
I bought a red 2007 Mazda MazdaSpeed 6 back in April. This car absolutely gets my heart racing everytime I drive it. For those of us that wish it will be reincarnated in the newest generation Mazda 6, it will not be the same - Electric steering, more electronic systems in place, more refinement which will make it lose its rawness. This car has its weak points which the aftermarket has support parts for. I would say if you want an AWD sedan that will excite you for every drive, but one that is completely or mostly stock and fix the broken parts over time.
clutch slip is where you rev pretty high usually i go about 5 grand, and then let out on the clutch until it grabs and then let off, instead of just dumping the clutch which makes it bog down and isnt as fast. the best 0-60 time ive gotten is 5.18s fullystock only an intake
Really is a great car... The perfect balance between looks, luxury and power. Not too expensive either, I picked up mine for a lot less then an EVO/STI and with a couple tweeks here and there I could probably keep up with a stock one. I love my MS6 lol.
@@jratch100 good. I got that car in 2008 and had it until 2019. Finally sold it. Do you still have it? All I had after the CAI from mazdaspeed was check engine lights. Eventually I had to get the turbo replaced...under warranty because the turbo seal went. By the end. The A/C didn't work and the radiator fan stopped working. BUT. It NEVER left me stranded. It always started and ran.
marksuave25 I bought mine back in 2012 with around 90,000km and had it for about two years. Was an absolutely great car. No issues at all other then when idling it was puffing blue smoke but switched to synthetic oil and never had any more issues with that. The only reason I sold it, was I wanted a truck but I REALLY miss the car and wish I never sold it.
@@jratch100 I had the blue smoke at idle and the manufacturer replaced it for free in like 2012 or 2013. Sorry to hear you sold it. It is a damn good car! Hopefully you can get something better and faster in the future.
owned one of these from 2015-2017. one owner, titanium silver sport. my first manual car had full bolt ons by the time i sold it. loved the car.incredible handling - the differential was out of the RX8, and the thing could plow through 10+ inches of snow when we had a couple blizzards in the washington dc area during my ownership. unfortunately, the car would constantly break rear diff mounts (including upgraded ones) even when i never, ever dumped the clutch. it got frustrating having to continuously replace the mounts, so i sold it for $1500 more than i paid for it ( I paid 10.5K from a jeep dealership)
@rollajoc96 I completely agree, I always been a fan of turbo all wheel drive cars (Evo, skyline, wrx sti just to name a few) didn't even know it existed till just a while ago. but until the price drops some more ill keep looking for a 323 gtx
Wish they made the new 6 and especially the 2014 wagon in a speed6 model, add in AWD and a 6 speed manual would be an awesome and exclusive ride...my recently purchased and rare 2006 '5speed manual' V6 GT wagon is a really nice balanced package...Mazda knows how to build cars for drivers.
@vernong1992 They discontinued it because in 2008 they introduced the Mazda6S with a 3.7L V6. Now that they had a modern V6 with 270hp there was no need for a Mazdaspeed version, or so says Mazda.
I've had it for 6 years, only had some normal maintenance. I did corksport intake, downpipe and turbo back exhaust, hpfp, bov and tuned it to just 300 bhp. Could been more but then i had to change waste gate and fmic. Never regretted that car, only regrets are hat i sold it after i did from 90.000 tot 240.000 in that 6.5 years because we needed to get a bigger car for the dog and baby stuff. At 240.000 it was still at stock turbo, clutch etc. But needed some repairs for another 6 years. I'd say, 250.000 km wont be a problem, tuned and with stock turbo/clutch. If you want one, take it 😁 just check for rust and blue smoke, that means the turbo i needs love. 🤣
if u put the stock tires on it (this one had pirellis for some reason) the brakin distance will decreas to 112 feet (which is almost 2 meters less than zo6 corvette of that year). original tires were potenzas summer performance.
i love my mazdaspeed, and i think their 0-60 time is off a little when he was launching it looked like he was bogging it, u need to clutch slip them so they dont bog down
I raced a Evo VIII with an exhaust, with my Speed 6 with an intake and exhaust neither of us pulled i was pretty happy about that it all depends on who gets the better launch if i messed up he would get a length and then it would remain the same to 100
@Stewblack23 Im not getting a brand new civic im getting a used si the 02-05 si model they arent fast but I think it is a good car for me to start out with since it has 160hp which i dont think is that bad but it is kinda weak but it has vtec and can use regular gas and gets good gas mileage.
this is a really nice car its cheap too but can outperform a bmw or audi and maby an evo or sti with a few mods its amazing Im going to get a civic si hatchack first, work for a year then im going to buy this.
The MSP3 needs AWD. Too much torque steer in the front wheels. With the new Mazda 3 chassis going a full skyactiv tune up in the 2014 model. I really hope they get an AWD variant. That'd be the hot hatch to buy. Competing with the VW Golf R very well I'd say.
People who are saying this competes with the Legacy GT or something have never driven one of these. I own an EVO VIII and a MS6 and generally the MS6 is MUCH faster except on hairpin turns. Would smoke a WRX. Mazda's numbers they give for 0-60 and quarter mile etc are laughable in how gentle they are with the car. Seriously, drive one of these. It's a beast. Ultimate sleeper.
Okay one serious question. I have heard and read from here in the internet that the stereo deck of this car (bose) doe's not read mp3 cd's or burned songs to a cd. am i right here? pls confirm thanks.
I hope Mazda will bring the mazdaspeed 6 for the new redesigned 6 with more power and a whole bunch of goodies to go along with it. All wrapped in AWD. Come on Mazda make it happen
??? The power curve on this car, with the turbo coming on at 3K and falling off before 6K, you have to shift ALL the time. Not that that's a bad thing, in my book.
No bro, I think you need to do your homework again. I'm asking which trim you got of the Speed 6. There is the base sport trim and the more expensive grand touring version, with the xenon headlights, nav and leather seats. I wasn't asking about the regular 6 at all.
Worst AWD take off ever. No wonder he could only get a 5.8 second 0-60. Also judging by the length of time he was in 1st and 2nd gear he was over revving the turbo. Shift at 5800 or GTFO. I own one and all the time I get asked WTF kind of mazda 6 is that? To which I answer "the only kind worth owning :)" It gets under rated on the street all the time. I'm sure I sent plenty of audi and Mustang owners home to their computers to look up "Mazdaspeed6"
SeigiSama i'm sure you did, and I know why motor week 0 to 60 is so bad.... One they act like they barely know how to drive a stick when they launch it, and also someone in the comments pointed out the condition of the dragstrip, it looks like it hasn't been maintained you can see how black it is from other skidmarks and tire residue
It´s a pitty that Mazda doesn´t produce speed6 for current generation. Sport Mazdas have much better interior, suspention, brakes and MPG than Mustang, Camaro or Challenger.
Well I changed my mind about getting the Honda,im just going to get a crappy cheap car,and save my money up for a Mazda Speed 6 then I want to mod the crap out of it.
@@adrianhayden7430 Lol... no. In 9 years times much has changed, .. I actually went from Mitsubishi Lancer (not evo) to Nissan 300zx to Honda S2000 to WRX STI to Civic Type R... go figure I would end up in a Honda when 10 years ago I would sometimes like them but then talk shit about them. The Type R is incredible, better than my STI and S2000 were. Type R currently only has an exhaust at the moment, but i'm having plenty of fun as the car is. The Mazdaspeed 6 is still a really cool car, one of Mazda's high points, they kind of just dissapeared and I forgot about them you don't see them like you do Evo's and STIs.
The only problem with this car is the gas mileage. 19 city 25 highway... Why not get a car like a mustang V6 that puts out more power (305 hp) and gets better gas mileage 19 city 29 highway. Then again, This was in 2006 when that car with that engine didn't yet exist.
Mw watching this in 2023! wish i was born a bit earlier! the modern car market sucks! too much granny mom SUV cars and i dont like German cars like BMW! wish could buy one mazdaspeed back in 2006
This car sucks. They totally scraped the idea. Look this car was aimed when it first came out at the evo and sti. Everything about this car was below that of sti and evo. There isnt one thing better about this car over the really rally cars. I cant stand when you speed owners think your car is anywhere near on par with an evo or sti. I like the mazda line I just dont think they are that great in performance as some of their fan boys would say.
winkdogydog101 just to let you know, the speed6 drivetrain is way stronger than the older wrxs and more reliable... You sound like a Subaru fan, that of which I am too... I like the old Subaru bug eye wrexies and especially the 2008-14 wrx and STI hatches... I like 05-08 wrx’s and stis... I love the BRZ... Well the speed6 is fun second hand for me I love my car... plenty of pop to mess with wrx’s and other stuff on the highway😬
