Hi guys and girls! Hope everything is fine with you! If you are just curious or want to rent a bike for your holidays in Portugal in the North Region (next to Porto), I rented mine from NorthRoad! I did not get any discount and you wont get one either but I like to share when I like the way people run their business and I really liked the way I was treated there! So if you need NorthRoad has a good selection of bikes to rent and they are 5 stars in service! Anyway hope you guys enjoy the video! Ride Safe :D
I love my 2017 f700GS. 4 months I put over 6K miles on it. Very smooth bike. 600 mi/week highway. Have to keep tensioning the chain though. Pain in the a$$. Also, I agree somewhat about the problems getting into neutral. issues
I always liked the BMW adventure series, the only thing I find a bit weird is the width of the front tire :p The fuel economy is great though! Glad you enjoyed your holidays in Portugal... it's a shame you couldn't stay any longer :/ Abraço :)
The thought of never coming back to the UK was very strong this time, I had a really good time, and the bike helped a lot. Now back to reality and to my beautiful Hornet! This bike also looks a lot better in person than in pictures!
"The gears go in so smoothly" Wat I own a BMW 700GS, even the same Rallye Model you've got there ;) and the gearbox is a clunky pile of crap, false neutrals super common, and if it's warm it hates going into neutral when you're sat still... I like it though, but it find it's too tame for me..
Honestly everyone has their own experiences, I asked at the ''dealer'' and no one had any issues going into neutral, me on the other hand 4 out of 5 tries I could not get into neutral... But gear wise when comparing to the hornet, this was smooth! Hornet feels like a ''truck'' when shifting gears, its very rough gearbox. I found the BMW good enough for what it is, in the mountains it behaves very nicely and has enough power for tight bends, it lacks power in open road but... Also found it a bit unstable after 180kmph, like if it was not even touch the road..
MrTemjin yeah, it is superbly balanced when it comes to cornering. The bike carries its weight so well slow speed manouvering is a doddle too. I can comfortably sit just creeping at 1-2mph without needing to use my feet, which is totally alien to me given my past bikes. That said, my biggest issue is just a lack of character from the engine. Stick a straight through on and it kind of masks that, but for me there is a definite lack of character which if it had some, could really have transformed the bike!
@@miabennett1363 Matt, I own a 2016 f700gs. For me oh, and for what I generally use it for (long-distance 2-up touring with my wife, and solo National Forest camping trips off-road), the bike is a godsend. I have to be honest with you, I have yet to experience a false neutral. When I first read about that phenomenon, I had understood that it happens a lot when people shift too gently from first to second. I have always made sure I give it a good hard up shift from 1st to 2nd. After that my gearbox has always been buttery-smooth. I am very diligent about changing the oil every 3,000 miles. I'm wondering if that is why I've never had any gearbox issues. Anyway take care! Rob
I also thought about buying a bike for when I'm on holiday at home but a couple of years ago they introduced this stupid law where you can't keep a vehicle unregistered (like SORN) because it will get written off, so you need to tax and I think insure it. This kinda defeats the purpose really
In Portugal you wont need insurance, but you will still have to pay road tax every year. Although in my case I would have someone to ride it while I was not using it so I would not mind spending 200/300 euros a year having it road ready. Better that than just sit in a garage.
In that case yeah but for me it would be better if I could keep it untaxed and uninsured and then when I come back tax and insure it so I can ride. Would have to be a pretty crappy bike though lol
Never review a rental bike, these bikes are usually high mileage and ill treated by many riders and even by the rental company themselves. Test rider one at bmw motorrad in the UK.
The guy on the Ninja in this video was actually selling it ahah I am honestly thinking on something sports related like 600rr or something like it. But investing on a bike just for a week or two joyride per year is something I must think about.
Epa... eu tenho 16 anos e acabei de tirar a carta(125cc)... ainda nao tenho mota, se é que vai se possível ter mas achas que conseguia andar em qualquer mota com 1.90m? xD
