MOTU Origins Snake Mountain Revealed! 

Btw I think we need a Snake mountain “Add on” pack like we did with Grayskull. It would be nice to have Skeletor’s table from the Filmation series.

I had a Snake Mountain as a kid and loved it. It's one of the main reasons I want this one, as I was forced to give up my original as a kid. I loved the microphone feature, but I'll gladly give it up for the other feathers this one will offer. Re: box art - I think the very fact that they addressed it in this video clearly shows us that it's extremely important to them, as packaging typically doesn't get that much of a fuss made about it.

So exciting! I never had a Snake Mountain growing up either so this will be my first! I already bought a custom table to match the bone throne. Can't wait!

So my takeaway is that most people seem happy with the overall look and feel of the playset. And we're good without the microphone, but would still like a lava add on/Secrets of Snake Mountain exclusive pack. Just in case someone from Mattel is reading the comments. ;-)

I agree - With tech the way it is now, they could have made the microphone feature far smaller than the original without sacrificing space for the new accessories.

I'm so excited about this. But Mattel now faces their biggest challenge so far; getting this playset into the hands of their fans.

This is hands down better than the original. I agree with omitting the microphone: those things just don’t age well. Maybe the technology we have today could improve the design, but you can buy a mic for the kids to play for $20 or so to go with it that would be a thousand times better. This is a huge win!!!

It was great to see John's live reactions to some of the stuff! :D I agree with John, Snake mountain indeed has more playability than Grayskull. I'm completely happy with just having front of the Grayskull displayed on my shelf, with some figures around it, but I have no clue what I'll do when I get the Snake Mountain, as throne, cage and acid pool look almost as cool as the front of the playset. :D Personally, I'm quite glad they didn't add microphone/speaker gimmick for two reasons... They would use the worst possible microphone and speaker to cut the production cost, and you can bet something would break in a couple of months (I'm sure Mattel didn't want to deal with warranty claims), and it would still substantially increase the price of the playset. Besides, if you really want to have a voice changing feature you can always get a small bluetooth speaker and use it with an app on your mobile device or something.

My ONLY complaint (concern) is the mountain peak. I wish it was removable/optional as I fear the 27” height is going to be a little too tall to fit on top of my bookcases, where my MOTU diorama currently lives.

My only nitpick is I wish the snake wrapped all the way down the mountain like the Classics/Mega/Filmation versions

I had the original but it has seen better days so I’m getting this one. I don’t collect origins but I’ll use this as a background for my classics and masterverse

I'm hoping for some enterprising 3rd party company or 3D printer to come up with a Snake Men conversion kit to replace all the wolf heads with snakes. And maybe even a snake throne.

Ok, I get that they were shooting for replicating the toy but that snake needs to wrap behind the mountain and look from the other side. If I can't do that I'm gonna be modifying my Snake. (Insert dirty joke.)

Only $80 for large playset? But Toy makers and their YT shills told me that was impossible. It's almost like their are lying to people on purpose...

To John's statement that this surpasses the Origins Grayskull, I agree and would defend it by saying this: Origins Snake Mountain has many upgrades compared to its vintage counterpart. Origins Castle Grayskull on the other hand is a toss up, with some upgrades and some downgrades compared to the vintage.

Look how big He-Man is on that footpath. He has to walk up it sideways. And when I say Snake Mountain is *WAY TOO SMALL* everybody disagrees with me & thinks I'm crazy. This playset is way too small for Origins scale figures. Or Origins figures are way too big. Whichever way you want to look at it. This playset is more in scale with Mega Construx figures. And remember, a mountain is a lot bigger than a castle. Snake Mountain should be a lot bigger than Castle Grayskull. I'll probably pass on this because the scale issue drives me nuts. Even as a kid in the 80's my tiny Snake Mountain always bugged me. It was hard to play with because the figures were too damn big. Castle Grayskull was way too small too. These toys should have been as big as the Cobra Terrordrome. GI Joe had all the best playsets.
