Wow, the PD doesn’t allow a standard Origins figure to fit inside standing?! That’s definitely a design failure! Sigh… The TF on the other hand is a win and a good upgrade.
Hmm it’s unfortunate the Point Dread isn’t big enough for a figure to stand - how did Mattel pass that?! Thank goodness the Talon Fighter is awesome, which is what I’m buying this for! Good review!!
PD represents my favorite Christmas memories. A big thank you to Mattel for making it so far with Origins. They have done an A+ job with the line....just like GDL did with this video. :) #motulives
Great review, addressing all aspects. I just missed a mix-with-the-vintage look, to see how origins PD sits on OG Grayskull. But so far, best review online.
You mentioned the black paint on Point Dread. I just bought this a day ago and mine actually doesn't have that. Perhaps they released newer versions that resolved that issue.
I just got this at ross for 14 bucks and it has no black over spray at all were it attached to grayskull ! So them must have fixed it !!! It dose still have shades of black but its not so glaring as that black strip at the bottom of it . But wow what a find for 14 bucks !
I always loved Point Dread as a kid… as much if not more than even Grayskull! Does the computer come out of the lower base, and could it help anchor the top and Talon fighter to the Grayskull tower? Either way, I will definitely be picking this up… and doing my own review @oldskooltoyz. Not sure how I’ll add to your excellent review, though. Excellent content as always!
It would have been better if mattel would have included the record and book like the the original. I never had the talon fighter as a kid but I ordered 3of them lol. I did not know the talon fighter came out in 1983. The talon also has that nastalgia feeling to it. The colors are vibrant and pops out. The point Dread have a lot issues but it's a must have it's been 40 years and know l have point Dread. For the figures not to be placed in the point Dread easy like the the original is really a let down on mattel s part. Good video sir
So I got my Point Dread and Talon Fighter a couple weeks ago and mine didn’t have any black on the paint, so it seems like there may have been a running change
Jay, I got my TF/PD and it does not have the black overspray on the front. The black paint is actually on the steps. No weird color matching issue with Grayskull.
@@GeekDadLifeI just picked one up from my local Walmart. It did not have the spray on the lower ledge at all. Just a mild spray on the steps and the lower part of the base. Since I got mine a while later, it might be a running change?
All the Origins vechiles have been better than the originals. The vehicles are where Origins really shines. The figures can be very hit and miss, some with very soft face sculpts or just straight up copies of the originals. But the vehicles and Grayskull have been great updates in quality and detail
The black paint on the part that connects to Grayskull is so disappointing. I doesn't blend, totally stands out and I dislike it very much. Probably end up displaying my Point Dread on it's own or storing it away never to be seen again.
@@GeekDadLife ugh. Thank you! I may have to buy a second one to rip apart and re-install in my junker vintage Point Dread so I can get the right height
Vintage has a cool darker color scheme.... However, origins does have "glass" for the windows annnnnnd a GAPING hole in its rear that you can pop a plug into. Tough call. Nice review!
I’m looking forward to this for my masterverse display. I’m seeing all the origins vehicles scale large so I’m waiting till I get enough to make new shelves
it looks shiny , i am not sure if i like it or if i like the matte finish of the original, they are cheap by making the stand fortress shorter and smaller, they are cheap also by not giving any of the figures their action features, like Whiplash has no rubber tail and Mechaneck doesn't extend and Kobra Kahn doesn't squirt .
I know people will not all agree but getting free items for a review is still a form of payment and the odds of beeing 100% real in your opinion are against the one who does that. If someone gives you something for free, your opinion will be differend then you had no ties with this company and make your own opinion. Still in your mint you know it's for free so it can influence your opinion. Who disagrees is fine, I respect other "adult" opinion, but respect my sight on this getting free stuff for a review.
I totally understand that, I think everyone has to form their own opinion on it. Outside of the toy world, a lot of people that do product reviews get them for free from the maker. (usually stuff that is way more expensive than toys like tech, cars etc) so the reviewer has no money staked to their appreciation of the item. I think its the responsibility of the reviewer to still cover everything they like and dont like about an item. I know I feel good about the fact that in this review I shared everything I loved and didn't like about this set. The same level that I would give if I didn't get it from the company. So I think if you watch this thing all the way through and don't think this opinion was really my own, that's fine, but for me I know it is.
@@GeekDadLife Hi GDL, I agree as I looked it all the way you did just that. I just wanted to say people whould get a wrong impression as you, fairly stated, got the item for free that you review, others could find this weird. But I feel it was good you were honest about it and was critical on the view parts you thought were not the best.
In 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 , God=Lord Jesus Christ warns of sexual immoral behavior. Those that keep doing it and don't stop won't enter heaven later. Unfortunately there is no rest after passing away in the lake of fire and brimstone for the unrepentant and the disbelieving.
