I am quite nervous to share this video with you all today. I pride myself in being completely honest with you all so I had no choice but to bring you all on my journey with me ♥️
For the past few weeks I having been taking Mounjaro. This is a licensed drug to help treat obesity in the UK. I have been thinking about starting this treatment for quite a while and have really looked into it and the other alternatives that are available in the UK.
There is so much misinformation about these drugs online and in the media so I really hope I can help provide you all with more information through my vlogs.
There really doesn’t seem to be many people sharing their journeys on RU-vid who are from the UK so I thought it might be helpful to get a UK perspective. There are lots of American videos online but they are often telling different formulations and face different issues such as supply and problems with health insurance etc.
I really hope you will be supportive of me on my journey. Please be respectful and keep comments kind. Any rude comments to either myself or other people commenting will be removed.
The plan moving forward is that I will give you my first month update then after that there will be weekly updates and vlogs. I have created a playlist for this series

I understand you being nervous although it’s sad that it causes you to feel that way. I have a friend who is really struggling with losing weight, well more than one actually. I lost weight I wasn’t even trying to lose by almost completely cutting out ultra processed food. It was a complete surprise to me and I hadn’t planned to lose any. I’m a size 8 now. It doesn’t work that way for everyone sadly though. I start to creep back up if I slip and eat junk again. I will mention this to my friend. It might help her. I think menopause has so much to answer for. Good luck!

Hi hun I don’t normally comment as I watch on tv mostly but had to come on and say I think it’s brilliant that you’re talking about this and wish you all the luck with your weight loss. I’ve been in peri menopause for 6yrs now and I’m sure it’s to blame for my extra weight over the years. I also have an under active thyroid and PCOS so I’m constantly battling with insulin resistance! I’m at high risk of diabetes due to the pcos but so far, so good but it does worry me. Anyway, good luck and I’ll be following your journey with interest as maybe this is something that would help me too xxx

Oh Claire, it’s an absolute nightmare isn’t it … fighting a losing battle despite your best efforts. It’s soul destroying and completely demoralising. You sound like you are going through so much my lovely. I feel so relieved that my video has been well received, I filmed it a week ago and promised myself I’d post it by the end of Sunday. I’m so glad I did. I had no idea so many people feel exactly the same as I do. I keep saying this to people but honestly feel free to ask anything at all. I’m a completely open book and I’ll answer everything to my best ability. All I can say is that I have no regrets at all in my first 4 weeks. Oh sweetheart, I think lots of us feel exactly the same. I won’t lie I was really dreading uploading my video but I still wanted to share my journey because I know so many people feel exactly the same. I honestly think the only way things will change is by talking about it and sharing experiences. I’ve been blown away by the support I have had in the past day here in RU-vid. It’s not a quick fix but I can honestly say my experience so far is incredible. I’m so pleased I started this treatment. Please, please feel free to ask absolutely anything about it at all. I’m going to probably film quite a few videos in quick succession answers common questions that I have been getting. Just remember you are a wonderful human being who deserves to be happy. My cravings are so strong….To lessen the struggle would be just amazing. I can’t relate to being skinny hehe 😛 iv been fighting the fat since my 20s with no bloody release… it gets tiring!!!! Marcea, I've got to say a couple of things... Firstly, although this is not something that is for me, (not because I'm not needing to lose weight because I really, REALLY!), I'm still very interested in hearing how it works for you or not, if only so if I hear from a friend that they are wanting to try something like this, I can direct them your way. Secondly, you're a highly qualified Nurse (even if you have retired), and I can't believe that you would put yourself through anything that you haven't 1000% researched inside and out nevermind pass information on to others that you were not totally happy with - You're not bloomin' daft! Thirdly, as long as this makes you happy and works for you then it's none of anyone else's business! You're kindly sharing this information with us to help other people, and anyone who can't see that probably can't see beyond the end of their own nose! You're one of the most kind-hearted people in my opinion on RU-vid, and anyone who says differently can "pierce with a pin and push off!" 😉Those of us that have followed you for years have got your back *hugs * 🤗 xx

I was going crazy trying to work out what this injection was actually for! 5 minutes in I realised 😆. I think it’s a shame you have to ask people to be kind, but of course it is sadly necessary. I hope the drug works.

It all sounds very interesting, it had a warning for thyroid cancer though which scares me as I take thyroxine, How much are the injections please?

I think that the cancer was found in the studies on rats so they are advising against certain family histories etc. I believe that people on thyroxine can be prescribed tirzepatide but obviously every person will be properly assessed for suitability. Prices increase with the strength of the dose. They start from around £150 for 4 doses but some pharmacies charge much more for the starting dose. As the dose increases so does the price xx

Good for you. Really appreciate you doing this video. Did your doctor prescribe it ok? Any problems getting them to prescribe it for you? Or are you having to go down the private route, and pay for it?you don’t have to answer that if it’s too cheeky. I can’t even get my doctor to acknowledge I’m suffering with peri menopause at 49 so not much chance of getting help with my weight. Which is so sad and unhelpful. I’m just told to eat less. Sadly GP’s are not really up to speed with these incredible drugs and it would take a miracle to get them on the nhs. I’m prescribed privately and will certainly talk about this in future videos. As for HRT …. That is really disgusting in this day and age. Do you have a nurse qualified in HRT at your surgery? They really should be discussing HRT options with you. Thanks for the reply, I’ve tried asking for a doctor specifically for menopause but have been told no, they don’t have anyone, and receptionist refused to even tell if they had a middle aged woman doctor I could see. Honestly you can’t make it up. All we ever get are medical students.

As for HRT I also had the same attitude at the doctor and have had to go private which is costing me a small fortune but I do feel much better as a result. I hope you have better luck Melanie.

Oh bless you - not you too. This is dreadful to hear. You should be getting this without any conflict through your gp. My surgery is fantastic and even have a weekly group for women to attend and find out more about HRT. Thankyou for your support my darling in this video. I was extremely nervous about posting it but I’m so glad I did now - you’ve all been amazing ♥️

Good for you. It sounds fascinating, do you know if you can take it whilst on HRT? I have a similar journey and at 47, I’m much heavier than I’ve ever been and no longer recognise myself or feel comfortable.

I believe you can but obviously I would advise double checking. It’s so hard dealing with excess weight and all that it entails. I truly understand what you are going through my love. My HRT was paused 3 months ago for investigations into bleeding that I was having but I should be restarting it again shortly so I’ll be discussing with my nurse and I can tell you my experience xxx

I hope it works for you sweet but there is a shortage for the diabetic, my hubby has not had his injection for 4 months because side of the shortage. He has ozempic thou xx

I’m sorry about that my love. I believe there are a couple of different doses of Ozempic with intermittent supply issues until the end of this year. There are no supply issues with tirzepatide in the uk which is the drug I have. This was one of the reasons why I chose this drug. There is enough stock for new patients and also for patients who are unable to obtain other GLP-1s which sounds like your husband. Have they offered your husband an alternative (rybelsus or tirzepatide?) Hope he has his treatment again very soon. Xxx I’ve attached a link with info re the stock for nhs which may help him at his appt to request alternative.
