This is basically what happened in world war one. No one was used to the new machine guns and many commanders and generals fought with old tactics and led large amounts of their men to the slaughter being gunned down effortlessly. Both sides made that mistake.

@@praisethesun.praisedeussol6051 uhh... miniguns? i dunno about that one chief. the M134 minigun fires at 2800 RPM or something like that, fires 7.62x51 NATO (which was standardized in the early-mid 50's) and was invented in something like 1960's or 1980's, somewhere in between the two. i get what you mean, eg: lewis gun, potato digger MG, MG-08, etc. Miniguns are generally known for being rotary weapons that fire quite fast and pump out either high calibre rounds or intermediate rounds. i mean, i guess you could argue that the gatling gun was used, but by then only a handful of nations still wielded them in a large scale. oh wait why did i rant about this?

@@gooberone On the notion of Gatling Guns, _sort of._ Gatling guns did have comparatively high fire rates to standard artillery pieces, but they were enormously heavy and generally unwieldy, more akin to cannons than what we would now consider a proper machine gun. Several nations had access to plenty of them, including just about every major power in the war, where they had been used in colonial warfare, but were used in a manner more similar to cannons and howitzers. Which, incidentally, is why so many nations were slow to adopt and adapt to the machine gun, as this increased tactical flexibility (even early Maxims weighed a fraction of the size of a Gatling and had to be towed on wheeled mounts, which greatly hindered their mobility) which combined with their higher fire rate and ammo capacity (Gatling guns typically used vertical stacks of limited ammo or massive unwieldy drums, Maxims were only limited to the size of the ammo belt and the amount of ammo the crews could carry) made them leagues more deadly than even the smallest and highest-capacity Gatling. All this factored in to create a weapon that was so radically new in its capabilities that few nations understood how to best utilize them or counter them, with the only real exceptions to this being the United States, who didn't enter the war for several years, and Russia. This, along with new innovations in artillery design, are what led to such enormous slaughters of unprepared infantry.

@@PikachuLittle I am doing one at a time ;) sturgia is ded, almost all mercenaries are ded, battania is close and northern and western empires are without fiefs. However I think it has bugged the ai, cuz the rest declare war every two or three days...

I don’t know why you have trouble finding the other crossbows, since in my game there are multiple variants for sale in Vlandian and Imperial cities, but you can’t really use them as you spawn with only 10 crossbow skill points instead of the 20 required for the weakest crossbows, unless you pick all the crossbow backgrounds in the beginning
