GET THIS!!! From viewer Alan Gornik, At 8:50, that huge relief stature of the kneeling woman is the grave of infamous Chicago Outfit wanna-be boss Joseph Giunta. Maybe that is why no family members followed him there after death (blanks for future name carvings remain). HE IS ONE OF THE 3 GANGSTER TRAITORS THAT AL CAPONE BEAT TO DEATH WITH A CLUB (OR BAT) DURING A FORMAL DINNER GATHERING. More of the story here: mob-who.blogspot.com/2011/05/guinta-giuseppe-1929.html Thanks Alan, good eye! 👍
It’s the same in England as well, people seem to be struggling all over, everything is so dear, after COVID our taxes will go up, then we’ve got sturgeon trying to rip this great country apart, it’s all going bad, I’m with you and your great countries 🇦🇺🇨🇦🇺🇸 TMW 🏴🇬🇧
What happened to society today when you look at the pictures men looked so proud and and well dressed the women looked lovely just an observation great video as usual 😊🇦🇺
Where I live there is an old Hungarian grave yard.Through out the years different people have dug up the graves and stole jewelery.Years ago I visited it and you could see parts of the coffins exposed.
Love watching you walk the cemetaries, its very peaceful & calming. And yes, lesson learned..always watch where you're walking! Beautiful tribute. Thanks, Ron, for another great video. You are the best!
Love mt Carmel cemetery. It is so obvious that you do as well, Ron. Nice to hear birds chirping and seeing the grass turning green. Beautiful tribute to Ameriga and Nicola. Made me cry. Love and prayers from. NYC
First, yes! I give money on a monthly basis to about 4 sites but I haven't had enough to donate to get the new gravestones. Today I got my govt. check and I'm sending you $25. I wish I could afford more but I'm living on SS.
Same here, it's about time the Government is giving the stimulus to vets and those on SSI. I hated this wait and was falling behind on bills. Happy that they are getting to people.
@@debbiebutler3815 .. yes thank God, during the summer months with living on waterfront property my electric bill literally shoots up to $400 a month and impossible near enough to keep up. I am from England yet lived here in Florida half my life and there half, I am not accustomed to the heat and suffer so I have plans going on full solar with wind turbine options as upgrades. To get by this year I just went out and purchased a 3,600 watt solar generator today. To operate most appliances to cut back on bills with a good portion of the stimulus and have two electrians in my family to hook everything up. I was just putting my health first with my medical conditions, I just do not need another heat stroke at all. So I was falling behind on bills again with power bills. Being this is a powerful upgradable unit, being behind on bills, thank God the stimulus check finally passed. Everything solar cost so much but at the end of the day, it can save a lot of money. I really hope many taken similar steps to catch up with everything going on today the future is uncertain for many at the moment.
@@FacesoftheForgotten as a child I was taken around churches and graveyards by my gran. Have always loved them. In fact I now live in a 500 year old house in a graveyard in a small Suffolk UK village and love it
I love the porcelain photos on headstones and it never ceases to amaze me how they hold up so beautiful even after 100+ years. Nicola was young when he died. My grandfather was born in 1905 and also died in 1960 so Nicola was only about 54. Rest In Peace to Nicola and Ameriga. It's nice to know something about people's lives.
Hi Ron, I believe the grave with the large Angel looks like it's a porous stone that absorbs water so the holes in the back are for drainage. I'm not an expert but that's my guess.... Thank you for sharing your videos & paying respect to those who have passed before us !!!
The big mausoleums in the Archdiocese cemeteries are kinda off limits for me. I was threatened with arrest at one last fall, so I stay away. I do have one upcoming episode I shot outside there tho --last December on Police Officer Anthony Raymond. Stay tuned!
per la famiglia: ora, sempre e per sempre. ricordiamo coloro che possono essere dimenticati. Translation: For the family- now, always, and forever. we remember those who may be forgotten.
All the way from England. I think you are a wonderful human being for doing what you do to remember those who have died. Thank you for keeping there memories alive ❤
Ta mate, from Ashton-Under-Lynn here myself however I bought my retirement home in Florida. Looking to go back as soon as it is a bit safer for a holiday. He is a wonderful person doing what he does, I offered to let him use my small RV and pay for him to stay in Florida for a couple weeks. I would of never did that if I felt anything negative about Ron but He is so nice for doing grave visits for his Subscribers, I think that in itself is respectable and honourable.
Hi Ron, hope all is well. I have been working on my family tree now since 1989 & I have found in the same family when one child passes & another is born a year or two later they received the first name of the child that passed. I found in my ancestry 3 johns, all brothers with the same name. Also Isabelle as well as Alexander.. My grandmother's family had two Rebecka's that were her siblings. One died in 1919 and the other was born in 1924 and both named Rebecka. I never heard of this neither until I started researching my ancestral tree, and yes it could of been her mother as well with the same name in section 7:48 of the video.. What a beautiful tribute to the Maucieri's Family, enjoyed it very much 😍 . Have a great day Ron, until your next video, keep them coming, love them ❤️😊
Yes, that’s a common practice in Italian families. Both my mom and my dad had siblings that died before they were born and so they were named after them.
What happened to that mutual respect between the different nations that settled in America .... It's like back then the people coming to America had the right mindset .... But since then the respect for each other seems to be and have sadly dissipated x
My mother's family settled in Chicago. Her father came from Greece. My grandmother was German descent. Grandmother always mentioned a town called Breese, Illinois where some of her people are buried.
I am British (duel Citizen) from Ashton-Under-Lynn in Northwest England , not all far from you technically. However spent half of my life in Florida and bought my retirement home here since leaving the service, I actually know of several UK cemeteries just as beautiful and grand as this but I also know terrible ones as well. I have been all over the UK except in your area, but from what I seen in your area, I love the landscape so I wonder why they don't have nicer ones there as nice as this.
This is so crazy 🤯 that I found this RU-vid video, but Amegria is my great grandma Nicolina's sister! I didn't even follow this channel and I cannot even remember how I even got here but Amegria Maucieri's name popped out at me! My great-grandma is in the family photo sitting next to Amegria in the darker dress. I actually just spoke with Rachel and Louis at my grandma's funeral in May of this year but I don't know Sara yet. Thank you for this video, it's a treasure. I see a big family resemblance between Amegria and my oldest sister. Wow! Just beautiful 😍
A beautiful tribute to Nicola and Ameriga. I love listening to your stories of people.💜🙂 You do an awesome job telling the stories of those who have passed on. I learn so much from watching your video's.
Great that you found a view’s grandparents! I wish more people still had pride in our GREAT country! Sadly, looks like the casket or vault caved-in in the sunken grave. Thank you for another great tour.
Regarding the first couple, it's strange to think how much happened in the world between the time she died in 1926 and when he died in 1964. He left a completely different world than she did.
Beautiful story and told so sweetly ❤️ I hope that sunken grave gets taken care of, both for the safety of others and out of respect for the person in it!
That was just beautiful I just cried my eyes out with story. I could pray this is how me and my lovely husband leave this world. You told that story wonderfully its almost like we were there watching it in real life. Great job Mr. Ron
The weeping drill holes on the hugh headstone are actually cutting bore holes from when the stone was harvested. The backside was not polished or finished for some reason, maybe cost.
Maybe....hmmm. I am an architect and we picked granite for our office building projects, been to Italy and seen all that work at the stone quarries and shops. You don't have drill holes in that direction, they rather run parallel to the cuts or splits. Bigger drill bits too. These are angled down, and super tiny by comparison to cutting large slab stones. these are like 1/8"...also in a random pattern. So I don’t think it is quarry work for this particular situation.
What a beautiful story about Ameriga's famiy coming to this country and also what you said about finally seeing her Nicola in Heaven again. That is how I feel when I finally see my son, husband, and parents(and all my family). I imagine them waiting at the gate for me. My grandparents were so proud to come here from Naples Italy. My grandpa saved all his newspaper clippings about America. He loved this country so much and we always kept up the Italian tradition of their home country as well. God Bless you Ron, you are truly a wonderful person keeping the forgotten faces alive. Beautiful headstones and cemetery.
Steubenville Ohio (dean martins hometown) was like a little Chicago mob town. A town near Helen Brock's hometown, Hopedale Ohio, and Cadiz Ohio,Clark gables birth place.
You tripped upon the stone for Joseph Giunta. He was a mobster for the Chicago Outfit, nicknamed "Hop Toad." According to legend, he was one one of the 3 guys Capone beat to death for betrayal and dumped in Hammond.
Regarding the name Ameriga - Our country was named after an Italian explorer, map-maker (cartographer), and Florentine merchant by the name of Amerigo Vespucci. In 1501 he was the first person to recognize North and South America as distinct continents, that were previously unknown to Europeans, and that they were not the West Indies. Prior to Vespucci's exploration Columbus's voyage in 1492 had traveled there and he (Columbus) had assumed that the New World was part of Asia. Vespucci was one of many European explorers during the Age of Exploration, or Age of Discovery, which took place from the mid-1400s to the mid-1500s. He had made quite a few voyages. There is a lot more information online about him. So, Amerigo (M) and Ameriga (F) were two rather popular Italian names of their time.
The open grave is really troubling. I wonder how long that has been there but it looked like the date of death was 1985. Mount Carmel should fill it in and post signs or fencing until it is repaired. That's really negligent of them unless it's recent. Those guys are employed by the Archdiocese of Chicago Office of Cemeteries. I don't know what the formal name is. They have a department for cemeteries.
I was in the cemetery where my girls are, and I saw a grave opened up like that. It is a very old cemetery. I am careful where I walk. I love the way you described Ameriga's reunion with her husband. We are all going to reunite with our loved ones someday.
I just wanted to say thank you once more for making this video. My grandmother would have been 107 this year. Very well done! A quick side note: It's possible that the woman from one of the other graves, Anna Troiani, may have also been a relative of my grandmother. I believe there was an Anna Troiani in her family.
@@FacesoftheForgotten You’re welcome! Thank you for your dedication to the memory of all the loved ones of your viewers, and the historical details! I learned some things about my family from this video that I never knew before!
I would love for you to come to London, so many graves I would love to show you, including the Ripper victims and their suspects and also kings and queens. Xxxxx
I love Mt Carmel...i live in Upstate New York in the Mohawk Valley and enjoy every video,,,thank you for all you do...wow glad you didn't fall in that grave..be safe
Where exactly is mohawk, I am not all that familiar with upstate New York but my old Olympic coach (1984 bronze medalist ) Ed Liddie and my main original coach and step father, 2 time world champion and former military instructor from world war 2 Harold forshey both comes from Glen's falls new York . I don't remember to much up there at all when visiting my step fathers family . I recall them living down this small hill that led to a part of the Hudson River and went fishing there all during my stay. But I do faigly remember signs to mohawk but can not remember exactly where that is. I do love it in upstate NY regarding the scenery. It's beautiful there. Olympic and world champion and Olympic coach Jimmie Pedro is from upstate also I do know.
I want to say this right. About the grave you almost fell in. I grew up below a limestone quarry in th 70s. My pa worked there and he told us kids not to ride our bikes on the huge piles of agregate stones. Because in the spring ice and water melt away and form caverns below. Like a sink hole. But in the spring. To drive the point home he drove us to a quarry in lacrosse which swallowed a double ssize dump truck. Just a suggestion.
Great video as always Love ❤️ the Mount Carmel cemetery videos That was a beautiful tribute you did for the family at the end of your video♥️♥️🌹🌹❤️❤️ Can’t wait for more Mount Carmel cemetery videos ✝️❤️♥️
Hi Ron, such a shame about that grave, I hope it gets sorted soon. I definitely have a few tears whilst writing this, that was such a beautiful tribute to Ameriga and her beautiful family, thank you Sarah for sharing those lovely photo's and memories with us xx 💖. Thank you for sharing such a moving video with us Ron, much love. xx 💖
I wonder if the grave sinkhole has anything to do with the building you speculated might be a pumphouse? Yikes. Also, I noticed years ago how Italians have a custom of affixing portraits of the departed to the grave markers. This custom seems to be catching on around the country in recent years.
I love your channel. My username was Robby Ray, I usually comment on your videos. Do you think that you could possibly do a video on Bernie Mac? He is at Washington Memory Gardens in Homewood,IL. Thay would be amazing!! Either way, I will keep watching. I truly love your channel. You jist have something about tje way you talk/ tell stories. In addition to you doing homework on the story.
Oh my. That grave looks like it collapsed. Avoiding stepping on graves has always been around for one reason or another but it’s also practical advice. Not all graves have markers, either, so best to follow the lines of headstones or footstones. Speaking of which, the headstone on that grave looks like it could start to sink. I hope you can contact the cemetery and the family can be notified. Collapsed graves aren’t something that gets much mention unless the entire cemetery hasn’t been maintained very well, but it does happen. It looks like it may have been very recent, so good thing you spotted it!
Your video s are getting better every time..love the drone..gives us more understanding..all the best for the future..😘 from uk..xxx keep doing what your doing..
Then don't visit the Minter Cemetery in TX, we had a bad car wreck, lost my mother. So when I could go see her grave, I was 12 and my two brothers and I ran around looking in the caved in graves. Young didn't want to believe my mom was there. So play...
Joseph Giants was one of 3 men beaten to death by All Capone with a baseball bat for an act of betrayal. His nickname was "Hop Toad" because of his unusual dancing style.
I wonder if they fixed that Grave! I and others got hurt in Chico (California) Cemetery almost 30 years ago because there was what they thought was nothing but ivy along the fence line and these were old graves. they fixed it once they realized what was there.
Well spoken Ron, a beautiful way to give respect, and remembrance. It's the cemetery who is responsible for filling the grave in, usually there is a big pile of dirt on the property to do just that.
@10:08 those holes at the back of the stone block are remnants of the quarry workers, its how they split the large piece of stone. The front was very expensive to sculpture, so expensive that there was probably not enough money left over (or just was not sensible) to smooth out the back.
