Over 8 years, & so little views? An amazing place. When I was young, I wish I could have been one of the observers, to experience the nasty weather. Now that I am much older, I still feel the desire in my head, but aches & pains set their limitations.
I first learned about Mt. Washington in 1972 from an article in National Geographic. That same year a friend and I rode our motorcycles up from Connecticut and rode the Auto Road to the summit. The next year was my first of about 20 hikes with most making it to the summit. There were a few that respectful caution turned us around without finishing the hike up the cone. A fascinating place.
It sure is. I did a day hike up the Ammonoosuc Revine trail. Had lunch in the Lakes of the Clouds Hut and went to the summit. Since my first adventure up my wife and I have been there 27 times. I do all the driving up the auto road. Train twice, coach once, motorcycle twice, hiked once and the rest by car. It calls us.
A few portions of this video are on one of the earliest auto road tour cassettes. It brought back memories of my wife and me on some of our first visits together up the mountain. We would go there every year for our anniversary but haven't been there in several years. We watched this and said we have to go back.
