I'm a sucker for polished aluminum but you can't beat these old steel frame bikes. I still ride my old Mongoose ATB. Love it.

Late to the party I know, but I love this frame. Cool mish-mash of chainrings too! And you wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find those 1st gen XTR brake blocks over here. Yours look brand new.

I was lucky with the brake blocks. They were on the bike when I received it. Unfortunately only one set. There is a different set up front.

Would like to get a cheap 1990's mountain bike with a preferance for something with tange tubes with no suspension front fork... And then build a gravel bike..

Lance, question here....what brand of tires did you use for this build? BTW...AWESOME bike, I remember those back in early 90s

I found them on Amazon. They are Fenix Cycles Wanda Tire. I don't know if they are available in skinwall anymore. My last set of skinwalls were Panaracer Smoke and Dart. Prices on those have gone up but at least they are available.

They are a cheap brand that I have never heard of. I saw them on Amazon and bought them because they are skinwalls. They are a little heavy but perform fine. Unfortunately they are no longer available on Amazon. I would have bought more because of the retro builds that I do. Oh well.
