It's been a minute since I watched of your videos. I gotta say, these filming angles, ambient background tracks, and dropping of the old intro really took the videos to the next level.

I carry Chipotle broth cubes and small bottle of chipotle sauce in my cooking kit. They give nice smoky boost for any stew or grilled food. And a small bag of roasted onion. Big thumbs up Krik and Stony! You rock!

Fresh cracked pepper. Get some fresh pepper in a small ziploc bag and use it as needed, both as it's cooking and once the meal is ready. It really does add a dimension to the meal for me. Great episode. Keep them coming.

you could add paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, thyme, fresh lemon or soup stock cubes (beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, tomato) really when you're talking about cooking the sky is the limit! and once you've dialed in your favorite flavors you can easily make a small packet with your favorite mix of spices and dump it in your cooking pot when you're making lunch.

The reason why there is a spice section of stores is because, of the hundreds of plants, some are simply better at adding flavours to food. The question really isn't what you do like, more, what you don't. I have some spice mixes in dry volume ratios (not by weight) that I like and use a lot. 1) 1:1 Crushed chilli and Mandarin Orange peel, 2) 4:2:1 Cumin, Black Mustard and Fenugreek, 3) 2:2:1:1/2 Ginger powder, Garlic powder, Onion powder and Turmeric powder and 4) Salt & Pepper. While not conventional to premix, I do, saves space and these proportions work for me. Some chilli and orange peel in a pat of butter, sizzled a little bit then a handful of mushrooms is nice. The seed blend in a bean soup is good, the ginger/garlic on eggplant is really good, and all together for a curry well :) can't go wrong with a good curry.

Start by adding a bullion cube to the water at the start. Table salt and fat are the best flavor enhancers (apart from Monosodium glutamate), bullion cube ads a bit of both + other flavorings. A little seasoning on top of that and you're golden.

Ramen noodle seasoning pack. Maybe even a pepperoni stick or two. The oils seeping out add pretty good flavor to a soup.

Great video. I laughed out loud...not an "lol", but a legit guffaw...to the "it changed the flavor, but didn't add to it". Your faces killed me. Very funny. I really enjoyed watching the whole thing. I'll +1 to the chicken or beef bullion cubes/packets. Super flavorful and light. You can even spice up some ramen packets with the dehydrated noodles and some jerky to make a bushcraft pho of sorts. The flavor will already be there...you can just add some nutrition with the veggies and the meat. One pot meals I love are pastas and stews. Not backpack-friendly, per se, but not obscene either. The nice thing is, steak, potatoes, carrots, celery and pasta all keep without refrigeration pretty well. My open fire cooking (aka: re-hydrating or coal cooking) have always been oatmeal in the morning, ramen for lunch (along with snack stuff), and then a packed foil for dinner (cubed steak, potatoes, carrots, onion, peppers, etc). Go to spices: ALWAYS salt and pepper. Sometimes, bullion cubes or ramen packets. Garlic. Steak seasoning. Something with heat. Anyway, great video. Made my day.

You can try a bullion cube; beef, chicken or shrimp. Take your pick. They weigh nothing and will definitely add flavor to those noodles. You can even make soup with it. Its good for the coming fall weather.

I am not sure what you like to eat, but I would have minced a clove or two of garlic, and perhaps some onions, and some mushrooms, as they are great added into any soup. You can also get everything freeze dried, or dehydrated, and of course garlic and onion powder. Joe from Feral Woodcraft seems to like adding Miso soup into some of his dishes, and he also uses lentils, which you can add sausage, ham, ham hocks, green peppers, and garlic to, in order to spice them up. Some people that I know, including myself use "Everglades" seasoning from time to time, and I also like to add Habanero or Scotch Bonnet pepper hot sauce. You could also try some curry powder which has various recipes and ingredients which mainly include cumin, turmeric, coriander, red pepper, and other spices like ginger, garlic, cardamom, mustard seed, and black pepper mixed in to it, which will turn bland dishes flavorful and spicy. Also very good for you, as is everything else I mentioned. I think all of the above would work well, especially if you mixed in some white breast meat chicken, which you can find canned, or in pouches. I used to carry lightweight pouches of tuna, salmon, chicken, and various nutrition bars , like Cliff Bars while working in the Alaskan wilderness. They made for quick, but nutritious meals while out and about, and in the evening, I would eat meals that I had acquired from a company called "Hungry Hikers" in Oregon. I would also cook up a pot of brown, or wild rice, and mix in some red beans before leaving on a patrol. I would then put meal sized portions in plastic bags, which I would keep in the bottom of my kayak, in a bear proof container. The water was very cold so the hull of the kayak kept my cooked food fresh for several days. I would eat the cooked food the first few days, then rely upon the food in the factory sealed pouches, and the freeze dried food from Hungry Hikers. Hey, once in a while I caught a fresh Salmon, Dolly Varden, Trout, or Halibut to have for dinner, which was a bonus!

Start with just the water needed for the veggies. When the veggies are rehydrated, add in some healthy cooking fat (coconut, avocado, sesame are the best vegan options I can think of. Butter & lard are good non-vegan/vegetarian options), and saute to deepen the flavor (don't forget the salt at this stage!), then move forward with the rest of the meal prep. Also some great spice blends to increase flavor & meal diversity are curry powder (don't forget chile powder if you want any heat), chili powder (2 different things there 😜), Italian seasoning, taco seasoning or enchilada sauce, etc. For an Asian flair, there's Nori Komi Furikake (a blend of tiny pieces of nori, roasted sesame seeds, salt, sugar & soy protein), and soy, plum, or hoysin sauces. Sauces aren't as easy to pack, but they can be totally worth the extra weight & hassle even if you can't dehydrated them at home first. Hope this is helpful.

Good video. This is what is in vegan cheese. Depending on the brand and recipe that's used, vegan cheese can be made from soy protein (used in shiny, slick, rubbery varieties), solidified vegetable oil (like coconut, palm, or safflower) nutritional yeast, thickening agar flakes, nuts (including cashews, macadamias, and almonds), tapioca flour, natural enzymes.

Try " Texas Pete " I put it on everything!!! A hot sauce that comes in a couple different "intensities". They have regular and a "black label." I really like the regular. I'm from NY BUT I've been in NC for the past 18 yrs. I LoVE this hot sauce. I imagine you can find it on the interweb somewhere. It's a different animal. I grew up with TABASCO.... Learned about sriracha. Texas Pete is my love.

start with Knorr rice or pasta side dishes. They're only a buck, you just add water and they have a lot of flavor and there are a lot of different flavors. Rice-A-Roni also makes just Add water rice or pasta dish. with either of these, just add a package of tuna or chicken or some dried beef or some cooked sausage and you've got a pretty solid meal.

I feel like you lose a lot of the flavor with the dehydrated stuff. You don't get to develop the flavors with just adding water. Cipollini onions, shallots, garlic and jalapeños travel well and only require a quick chop and sauté. That caramelization adds so much flavor. Then you can just toss in the rest of your ingredients and still have a one pot meal. There are a couple of recipes on my channel that might want to check out. They might be a little bit more complicated than you'd like but you might get some ideas.

Salted cod/ salt fish. The fish adds the protein you want and it's already salted so you boil off the salt you don't need and keep the rest. Try that in your noodles.
