Five weeks after watching Kyle & The Gang do Anthem drop, it's my turn to try this over 6 foot drop with an 11 foot gap. By far the biggest & scariest drop I've attempted. First I session the step down/kicker at the beginning of Tempest. This footage is from August 16th, 2021 at Mountain Creek Bike Park in Mt. Vernon, NJ.
Music by Angelo. Thanks For Watching!

Nice job!! I just bought the GoPro 10 and thought - Hell, guess I have to do Anthem now. Good stuff!! Subbed.

Thank you. Anthem is a mind-bender, but one hell of a rush when you pull it off without dying... Phantom is too, although it could be viewed as being even more difficult because over-sending Phantom will make the landing even harsher than it usually is. When done just right, it (Phantom) isn't too bad, but Anthem never seemed as harsh as Phantom, regardless of how I landed. I think because Anthem you have to come into it with more speed, so you're going out as much as down, whereas Phantom is more down. Thanks for subbing!

@@mtbdream3053 Yeah bro the scariest thing about Phantom is it's completely blind until you go over the edge!! That's the freakiest part for me.

Nicely done! Amusingly, I've ridden the rock drop towards the left for ages (that drop has been part of various iterations of that trail for 20 years), but I haven't really even looked at the Anthem drop. In some ways, it looks easier than the Phantom drop, since you have a longer landing and carrying more speed isn't such a big deal. With the Phantom drop, getting the speed just right is trickier. My friends and I rode Tempest a few times this past weekend. I was just about clearing the jumps. Need to brake less, and pop more...

Anthem is sketchy because of the semi-skinny, that's 6' above the flat rocks on either side of the ramp. It's downward sloping & you have to either go fast, difficult with the rocky run in, or pop it, since Anthem is about 6' down but about 11' out. Phantom is more of a 50/50; roughly 8' down and 6-8' out. Phantom is off a flat, ultra-wide surface, with a very wide landing. On paper Phantom should be easier. I think they are both challenging, but with so many differences between them, it's hard to say one is harder or easier than the other. Plus every rider is different so this one will probably be argued for infinity... They're big & challenging, but doable if you've worked your way up. I never recommend this size feature to people because you never know what someone has done prior and how well they did it. Most of the big "drops" are things you need to ride centered (balanced front to back) on the bike & land at a downward angle. Unlike small drops, where you throw the bike out in front of you & land flat. Big drops like these are totally different animals.

It’s funny, I’ve done that drop on tempest so many times and never once looked at it. It’s kinda big haha.

Hello! Thanks for reaching out. You were far more confident doing Anthem drop than I was. It's different than most drops because you have to jump out. I appreciated your encouragement. It helped. Watching you guys provided a visual for what needed to be done. I don't think I ever fully cleared it but I was landing the way I wanted by my fifth run. Hope to see you again before the end of the season. If not, then next year.

Were you at blue mountain this past Saturday? I thought I recognized the bike.

Yep, the whole day. When I wasn't riding solo I was riding with Kyle & Jaden (Hanover, PA) & Brandon (local). I did the Miles Of Smiles drop for the first time, which felt funny because I've been doing the drop at the start of Upper Empire the last 2 trips to Blue & did Phantom drop at Creek Friday. Miles drop use to scare the crap out of me. Now it's tiny. Although you can get hurt going off a curb...

@@tinosoutdoorchannel5173 Ouch, Blue is a rough way to start a bike park experience. It's crazy rocky & has gravity issues at times; trails going from too steep to lulling you into believing it's safe to ride with no brakes. Glad you survived. You should try Creek next. You got a little under two months to get to Creek before the season ends. If you see me at either, introduce yourself.

That's an original song by Angelo. I use music he creates in most of my videos.

@@mtbdream3053 thanks for the answer. I saw the reference to Angelo in the video description but couldn’t find an artist/song that sounded like that. Is it on RU-vid?

@@wartimemodels I don't think he has that one up anywhere. I've been telling him for years to get them up but he's also into Hollywood-level FX (explosions, water, landscapes, sky/clouds, etc., simulations that keep getting better). Plus he works for me. We both have too many interests & never enough time. I'll push again for him to get more music up. I'll let you know & provide a link if he does.

@@wartimemodels Thank you regarding the video. They take me a LOT of time to produce, which is one of the many reasons I'm so far behind. But the next one is a killer progression video that I'm trying to finish part I of. I might have it up in the next two weeks.
