I recently rescued a very handsome 9 month old dog believed to be a Treeing Tennessee Brindle. I am a senior citizen and he is way too strong for me. I care deeply for him but he would so benefit from having a child and other dogs around on someone who has acreage. He is totally housebroken and obeys many commands as he's very intelligent.

I rescued a great dog!! Beagle/ mountain cur/ pit bull and dalmation! He is 3 years old and I got him 5 months ago. He is very protective with my children

An awesome dog. My kids and I call ours, "the best dog in the world". He likes to jump the fence and explore the neighborhood. Everyone likes him. He can track us. We hide a treat and he follows our scent trail to get it. He wants to please-- comes when called, and doesn't ever destroy stuff in the house.

My first family dog was a mountain cur named Cozy. She was the best and cutest dog ever! I’d love to see another and own another some day. I wonder how hard they are to find. My dad adopted her from a shelter in 2005 when she was 9 months old for $100.

We found our mountain cur in Rifle, Colorado at a rest stop. 1am and she was at the rest stop running around. Thought she was someone else’s dog. She wasn’t lol. We’ve had her for a year now and she’s the best dog ever. We love her soo much

My daughter saw a couple toss a puppy out a traffic light. She brought it home to me. Belly is now a full grown brindle and for sure protects the pack. Great dog but I have to warn visitors that she will nip at you if your not carful. At the same time my 1 year old grandson climbs all over her with no issues at all.

We have had 2 Mountain Curs and you had better have a good sized yard to kind of keep them happy. He didn't mention they are very smart - A flick of the leash and a command will turn into just the command in 2 or 3 tries. I would say they make a bad Apartment dog. Unless you have very tolerant neighbors. They are loud and love to play outdoors and to do it loudly.

I just adopted a mountain ker 3 weeks ago and within 1 week of leash training on my property I have 50 acres he follows me everywhere I go I don't have to worry about it and running off if he chases a squirrel or a bird I'll let him go until he can't get it no more I call him and he comes back one of the best dogs I've ever owned I had a plot hound which I love the death but this dog is so much more obedient than my plot hound

I have a mountain curr. She’s beautiful brindle sweet with my family and child. We live on a half acre and she loves to hunt little critters on them, she’s a wonderful hunter. My dad lives in the ozark mountains on hundreds of acres and my “Lady” LOVES to visit. She has natural recall, I just whistle and she will come to me no matter how far out she is tracking a scent. She’s a good girl, the best girl! Intelligent and watchful

How is a mountain cur different from a plott hound? They seem pretty similar.

The plott was probably definitely developed with some cur in it when Mr Plott was breeding to get what he was after. The plott will be longer legged, more of a hound head and usually more ears but I've seen some short eared plotts. The plott should have a big round chest too to hold those big lungs. A Plott should have a long whip hound type tail also
