You know most of the time when I watch Steve hunt, I’m not really even interested in what he’s after. I find myself more intrigued with his outlook on life and it is his thoughts that I admire most.

I've seen every season and I think this is the best episode ever. The music, the edition, the photography, the places and the reflections... 10/10. There were no guests, not one shot was fired, nor were there recipes, but there was a connection with the truly hunter soul.

Right there with ya, though I'm a couple years younger. I was still hunting blacktail this morning and realized a few years ago I assumed I'd be dead by now. You know listening to you reminded me of hunts and camping with my father. When I saw the shot of the night sky and the stars that seem like they just showed up and you never remember seeing so many. Makes you forget how dark and wonderful the mountains are without light and how awesome it is to fall asleep staring up at them. Nature is so wonderful. I felt like I was with you because there is never a better place to be than alone, away, and free in the wilderness. That feeling of wonder, excitement, with that touch of fear reminding you you're alive and want to stay that way to enjoy more......

I totally get it, as I've gotten older, it's more about the experience of being in a wild place and in a wild animals environment than it is about killing an animal. Especially now that I'm teaching my son how to hunt, it's all about getting him onto animals and teaching him how to take animals cleanly and hunting ethically. I get much more pleasure out of him taking an animal than me taking one. Keep up the great work Steve 👍

Besides the thoughtful outlook on life pretty much way beyond the 40+ years.....at 65 I can add some context about why we all see Steve's walk in such a positive light First Hunter's are people who work for what they want.......meat-trophies--experiences.....I was fortunate to have time to elk hunt and its not the shot or the mount......its the hunt where you did not get in shape and had to settle for a 5x5 but still paid for your brother-inlaw's ticket and watched over the valley while he ran down an unsuspecting bull you had scouted the night before scoring a High 300's.........and the year that you did it all and came back with a bull that made you earn it......its the friends who went with you, the copper smell of blood from an elk carcass, and the night sky..........the context I offer is also from Steve......at the cabin putting out pots he said every fisherman may not hunt but every hunter pretty much fishes Word to the wise.....even if you lead an ideal active life and you fight time.......at 60 the wheels - they start to develop corners My dad - God bless his soul imparted the wisdom he had that "Time was money" meaning you need to get paid for effort In my time I taught my son and daughter the same with a different tilt.......time is your most personal "currency" and how you spend it says more about you than anything else At 65 I fish.....fishing is hunting retirement God bless you Steve......and all of you other boys and girls out there American exceptionalism at its finest in a shit crazy world

I met a couple young men up in there last month that you had lit the hunting/adventure fire in during spring bear. At 60 now, it brought back so many memories of myself being in their shoes at their age with that young fire. Age does take away some blood sport in you I think. I’ve watched things change in that area as well over the past 20 yrs and now I seem to fight more for wildlife balance than worry about a 340 bull. It’s important to me. I want those 2 young men to enjoy what I enjoyed back at their age and young men and women of yet to be born generations to enjoy it all as well. It’s hard to explain for me, because I still buy the elk tag and once that bugle fest kicks in, that Hunter instinct comes back in a split second. Today I just don’t get upset if I don’t get an opportunity. Weird, I think the same way when it comes to grizzlies and my death. I even said to myself while I was up there solo, that death by grizzly would be way better than death by Covid or a head on collision ect. You’re right….having my daughter feed the grizz with my dead quarters, might be a little intense for her. Ashes will have to do.

I always said the way I want to go is by a grizzly. Hopefully in my 60's, maybe 70's still able to walk and hunt and do battle with grizzly. Knowing it's gonna take me out but we're going together. There's something about that ,that appeals to me on a level I can't really explain.
