New to soap making. Working currently with melt and pour. When I view your videos and others with cold process, I can see that it doesn’t start setting up for y’all as fast as a melt and pour. Still a long way from your expertise. Yes I like making it look perfect, too. Questions? Where do I start. Looking at plenty of tutorials. How do you know how much oils to add? How much lye per soap? How much scent? Soap for dummies here😂… so yes I am on a journey for knowledge. I am subscribed and loved this design! Keep them coming.❤

Love your work!!! Personally, I'd love to better understand the properties each type of oil brings to the recipe and what ranges are desirable. I've often wished SoapCalc would assign ranges as they do for qualities like hardness, cleansing, etc. You touched on it in this video and I'd love for you to cover the topic in more detail in a future video. Also, perhaps how you approach creating a recipe from most important qualities to least important. Also, I enjoyed how you showed some of your fails. It made me feel better about my own.

I adore your videos. They are so informative for new soapers. Belinda gave me a tip for the shapers: instead of using tape, use rubber bands to affix the stick/guides. I had tried a few different kinds of tape, and I found that none held as well as I would like. I used 2 rubber bands to affix the guide and it worked very well (plus they are reusable!).

Just because you have footage doesn't mean you have to use it. It's frustrating because the effort was made to make it, but if your heart is not in it, then that's that. I wouldn't mind see soap footage with some music cut over it, but that's in you really want to put that footage to use. You're videos are helpful, especially when new to soaping. You just having fun, trouble shooting, giving something a try, showcasing techniques or ways of doing things that you've changed over time, etc, would also be interesting too.
@TreeMarieSoapworks

Thank you so much for your input, Pam! 💖 It is frustrating because it's like the footage is ripe for the picking and now it's getting past it's best.💕 In the beginning, that's what I wanted my channel to be, just showcasing what I'm working on. I thought RU-vid would be enough income to pay the bills, but it's not at all unless you have sponsors. (I don't want to do that because I don't like them in other videos, so I don't want to subject my viewers to that.)

I enjoy your videos immensely. You soap and your work process are beautiful. And you explain a lot of interesting facts about soap. I would be nice to get a more in depth explanation about sapponifcation. What happens, why do you need to be so exact in the measurements, what does a waterdiscount do, why are some fragerances accelerating and some slowing, what are the chemical differences in the hard/ liquid oils and fragerance oils what is their function in the soap? You said you used graphpaper for working out the percentages. That was a lot of counting for sure. Next time you could draw the design on heavy cardstok, cut out every section and get the percentages out of the weight of each section. You would need a very fine scale. But it would be less counting.

That is correct, Lily.👍 And it is added to the lye instead of the oils because lye is supposed to bring out the color of the indigo. 🧪💕

Hi! I'm loving your channel! You do really beautiful work! I read that it's wise to spray alcohol in between your layers to help them "stick" together, yet I didn't see you do that. Did you just edit that part out or do you recommend not using the alcohol? Thanks!🥰

Thank you, Julie. You only need alcohol between layers in Melt & Pour soap, not CP soap. It sticks together fine.

Great video! How long does it take for each layer to set up, are you waiting until it's firm to the touch? Do you keep it at room temp while waiting. Also, do these layered soaps go through a gel phase. I've been soaping for 3 years but have made basic bars and am just now getting into the artistic side.
@TreeMarieSoapworks
@TreeMarieSoapworks Год назад
Do you mean how long till it's ready to sculpt? (Not firm to touch.) That depends on the fragrance and the recipe you use. Mine took probably 30 minutes to hold its shape. Then once it's sculpted, it's ready for the next layer, which will need to thicken enough to keep its shape. (I should have used a slightly accelerating fragrance.) I didn't notice a gel phase, but I believe I covered this one and didn't oven process it.

@TreeMarieSoapworks

Oh, so sorry, I got pulled away and never finished it. It involves putting the design on graph paper and counting the squares in each layer, then divide by the total number of squares. That will give you the percent for each layer. Up the normal batch size by 15% and divide your batter into the percentages you figured. I hope this helps, Amanda! 💕
