Hi Stephanie - yes, sometimes painting against the clock is the best thing for our art. Spending too much time procrastinating can take the joy out of painting. I often face a time crunch ( read constantly BTW ) and find my time getting shorter and shorter. But strangely my enjoyment for painting stays the same. I might even say I think some paintings look better for having spent less time fiddling with them aka. mud mixing. Now my next one is a toss up between .... well lets see what happens 🥰🥰😃😎

Hi Paul, thanks again for sharing this tutorial video. It was again very helpfull and i enjoyed ur calm voice every second of the 35 minuts video. I was wondering if there could be any chance to make a video about canyon mountains a western scene with cacti and a cowboy silhouet or something. Just to learn how to apply sand instead of snow and how to use colors for desert and stuff... if you find the time for that would really appreciate that. Have a very nice evening grts steven doei 😂😂

Great video, I really appreciate the explonation of the foothills and bushes, as I've been struggling with those. How much of a difference is there between Bob Ross official brushes and normal, more affordable ones?

Thank you for stopping by and watching. I'm pleased your finding the tutorials useful. As for brushes there's quite a difference between regular brushes alone. Bob's brushes are all bristle without a well. Check out house hold brushes and they often have a block of wood or plastic driven down the centre to create a well to hold paint. The wet on wet technique needs the paint to sit on the tips of the brush. But there are some synthetic brushes that are very good too. Look for ones designed for gloss paint. They have flag tips to the bristles. Hope this helps give you a few clues as to what to try from the DIY store 😃😎

This came out really great, enjoyed the entire video, sound effects and all!! 😅🙌🏻. May I ask what brand of paint you use? They seems to go on nice and dry, or maybe I'm just using too much liquid white.

Hi MG - I've used Bob Ross branded paints for many years as its part of the Bob Ross teacher training. But other brands work well if adapted a little. You will no doubt have herd Bob say 'a thin paint sticks to a thick paint' ( in posh art speak its 'fat over lean'). Bob's darks are drier and highlights oilier. So if your brand of darks are too oily put a blob on a piece of cardboard for 10-15 mins and soak out some of the oil. The opposite for highlights - just add a speck of oil. Use what ever comes to hand 😃😎

Paul, I have Mars black and Ivory black. which is more similar to the one you are using? I will try this today. I found Ivory more transparent than Mars Black.

Mars Black is the closest to the Black from the Bob Ross range. If you want to see what color black you have take a small dab of it and mix with a little titanium white. Mars Black usually has a blue tint. Ivory black has a brown tint. But there are many blacks to choose from and each works slightly differently. - Hope this helps - Paul 🤗😃😎

Hi, Paul. I have a question, when you apply the liquid white you have to let it dry or you can paint while the liquid white is still wet?

Hi Patricio - this is a wet on wet oil painting technique. So the liquid white oil paint is still wet when I apply colour. Its very slow drying and will be workable for 6-8 hours so plenty of time for painting. If it dries then I leave my painting for a few days to dry more before adding more liquid white. - Happy Painting - Paul 😃😎

I love Bill Alexander ... what an amazing style and presentation. I did a rehash of one of his painting s a while ago and reproduced a scene with his style. It worked well and I really enjoyed it. Maybe another one soon - Paul😃😎
