Yes it does count. I have my primary light in my hand, but I can clip it to my helmet if I need my hand free (using the Razor mount Woody shows here). Another smaller light on the other side of the helmet for backup and a third light in my drysuit pocket as a second backup. That's three total.

If a light goes out you call the dive since you now have reduced redundancy. You need the backup lights to safely exit.

As long as it works, that’s all that matters. Not everything has to look super serious and heavy duty 😂

I think that's why one of the rules is to have 3 lights just in case. But in the end I guess getting out of a cave with no light and getting out in a total silt out would be about the same if they handled their lines right they can just follow the lines by feel. These guys are brave for sure though, and have the training.

Woody and Gus swim with 4 lights each, just in case. They've both said neither has had a light die on them

The credit goes to Mike Young. He made this helmet for me and sent it to me as a gift (after I saw his and requested to get one from him). Mike also posted this message about making it : “ You want to be sure you get your light pointed correctly. Easiest way is to turn it on and move it around on the curved helmet till you are happy then have someone else mark the spots to drill. Remember you won’t be swimming head up like your walking. You will be in trim so do this Laying down with neck bent. (Yes it makes a difference).”

Because real men wear pink... Also I imagine it makes you a lot more visible and easier to notice underwater. Especially so in a cave.

Sooooo, I think it's time to add some explanation to the color pink. Many of you that know me certainly know that I believe that the ocean has "Ocean Soul". This soul is alive with life and energy. I believe when we dive in the ocean, we gain special healing powers. We ingest all that bio luminescence and it becomes a part of us. This is why I've been so addicted to it's magical powers since I was a baby (being born and raised in the incredible city of Ft. Lauderdale). Now let's look at what pink is thought to represent: sweet, nice, playful, cute, romantic, charming, tenderness, is associated with bubble gum, flowers, babies, little girls, cotton candy, and sweetness. The color of universal love of oneself and of others. The color pink represents caring, compassion and love. The pink color stands for unconditional love and understanding, and is associated with giving and receiving care. Since pink is a combination of red and white, both colors add a little to its characteristics. It gets the lust for action from the red color, and the white color gives it an opportunity to achieve success and insight. Passion and power from the color red, softened with the purity and openness of the white color completes pink color meaning. The deeper the pink color, the more passion and energy it radiates. Pink represents friendship, affection, harmony, inner peace, and approachability. Pink represents the color of breast cancer survivors, which I'm all too familiar with as well. Ocean Soul, inner peace, love, kindness, approachability, passion, power, gives care but needs care, sometimes full of action, sometimes calm and tranquil, ........ Pink, Ocean Soul, let the world be full of both.
