As a resident of Cobourg Ontario for 27 years Cobourg is not a good move the only reason people come is because of the beach...but most everyday Cobourg residents are poverty stricken there is no good employers unless you want to work for next to nothing rent prices are over the moon and the mayor of the town is about as credible as the people who collect social services there are much better places to call home than Cobourg Ontario
There is a huge homeless problem in cobourg which usnt too far ftom the school. With lots of problems. On highway 2 just east of the downtown is the homeless camp. This is right in the area that they are showing.
Cobourg use to be amazing. Great shops nice people a nice place to spend the day. Now tge shops are outrageously expensive the downtown is a mess . If memory serves me correctly some of the banks close off the bank machines about 7 or 8 pm because of the vandalism and homeless problem. The houses they showef are probably people trying to se to get away because of the homes mess. I wish the luck because the homes and side streets sfe beautiful but now they afe being robbed backyards and decks stolen from. Its a mess Its too bad become it was soo nice at one time
Don’t move to Cobourg!!! This video is a joke and misleading We have monthly meetings with police about how bad the downtown area is. Trust me I live downtown and it sucks No good jobs no sense of security walking around at night It’s going to pot
Cobourg... Where theyve prioritized downtown tourism and let every other aspect collapse. Property taxes are outrageous. Their health system has crumbled and youll either be waitlisted or referred to Peterborough, I've been rushed to pete/oshawa several times because they don't have the doctors. The town recently condemned several buildings owned by a slumlord, amidst a housing crisis, only to send them to the streets. You can now find the homeless encampment steps from the local highschool and an elememtary school!! We've got record crime rates, including but not limited to stabbings and shootings. Fentanyl is rampant throughout the town, yet they have limited services and make cuts to funding every chance they get. Cobourg cares about money and that is it. "Come shop downtown" but don't tell them about the lack of parking, the crazy prices to park or the INSANE price of tickets if you take too long at the bank or half your time goes to the 1/4km walk to get back to your car. Don't run to the store in your sweats on a sunday or theyll treat you like the local homeless population and follow you like a hawk. I was born and raised here. Once upon a time, Cobourg was an awesome place to live. I dreamt of raising a family here, my kids going to the schools i went to, bowling and movies on the weekends... But horrible political representation has driven Cobourg into the ground. It's scary here now, maybe not in comparison to other cities but its getting worse and FAST. All cobourg cares about is the beach and making money. They don't direct it back into the community, they put it into tourism and fooling people into moving here. If youre going to move east, you'd be better to look in trenton or Colborne, the other surrounding towns and hamlets are beautiful, peaceful and you're less likely to get your car broken into by the vulnerable people with no other means to take care of themselves. Don't move here.
Colborne mayor is ni better. Taxed keep going up and services cut. She doesn't care what tge taxpayers want she just goes with her woke agenda. She is one of the reasons that the encampment is worse she just voted to buy a building for them which needs all kinds of renovation and she voted for it and yet she didn't know how much the renovation was going to cost or how much it was going to cost to run or who would be running it or what services would be offered or what level of occupants would be living there. The neighborhood is jusf freaking but she voted for it anyway. Its a disaster don't move to Colborne either the taxed are madness . It's 4.50 for one bag of garbage and there are no free bags. The water prices and sewer rates since this so call mayor has been running things are outrageous. But she carries on with her social justice woke agendas spends our money and ignores us. Don't move here either
I would have to say Cobourg definitely has a drug and homeless problem. The sad reality is every town seems to be this way now, seems our society is in decline.
Cobourg is a beautiful town but the rent and taxes are insane, the stores are all over priced down town idk how they are still open with the homeless problem because i guess these people dont deserve to be in a home and it gets condomed. people are rude and snotty i find the crack heads nicer and at least say hi. Its the salvation army and the places that help the town the community with shelter and food and projects and mental help thtas what makes cobourg amazing the little guys in the back ground, not the hospital not the mayor not the big name gas stations ... oh and the cobourg police are amazing and really respectful if u are with them.
