I love Mt. Rainier in the summer on a clear night. The Milky Way is amazing up there and it's a go to destination once they open up Sunrise after the 4th of July weekend.
hey Mike, great video one question, I realize it is a blend and it appears on the shot for the sky you have to angle it so as to have more sky (for cropping options) in the second shot for the foreground. Are you just adjusting the angle of inclination?
Just today bought the Nomad with ballhead and phone mount. I cannot find any video help on how the phone mount is used in this combination. I am out in Utah starting in Colorado Springs on 2nd/3rd April 2024 but have my Star Adventurer Pro set up to bring along from the UK which I am much more used to. Can you point me in any direction?
I just got the phone holder for the Nomad and will be working on a video on how to use it during the next couple of days. There's a bracket for the phone holder that attaches with the red adaptor for the laser pointer. I am available for hire if you need help while you're in Colorado Springs.

Hi Mike, I saw this video when it popped up on my RU-vid home, suggested videos. I live in Scotland (Scottish by birth) but have lived and worked all over the world and, during 2017/18, worked for GPS Source in Pueblo, just south of the Springs. I stayed in Col Springs for 2 weeks in Nov 2017 and loved the place. Took a car up to the peak of Pikes Peak and also visited Garden of the Gods. At the time, I didn’t have any astro kit and now kicking myself because to have taken shots in Garden of the Gods with my Skywatcher skyguider pro 2i, would have been quite magical. You are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. I love the firework shots of Pikes Peak. From what vantage point did you take them? If you ever take shots from the Garden of the Gods, please upload as I would love to see such. Regards, Mark
Hi Mark. Thanks for your message. I'm glad that you enjoyed your time here in Colorado Springs. I used to live in Pueblo when I first moved to Colorado. Check out my videos from Westcliffe, which is my favorite place to go near here for night photography. I live close to Garden of the Gods and don't visit as often as I should. I do tell visitors that if they only have time to go to one place, Garden of the Gods should be at the top of their list. I found out a few years ago that my mother's side of the family is a sept of the Mackay clan from the very northern part of Scotland. It would be nice to go there someday. I have a photographer friend in Harrogate who hosts workshops at the Isle of Skye and other locations in your part of the world. Which fireworks shots are you referring to? I've photographed them from the summit as well as one of the lakes along the highway with special permission. @@MikePach3PeaksPhoto Skye’s a long way to go from Harrogate! 😳 Re the fireworks, I was referring to the pics at the end of the video. I took a look at your webpage and found the “Garden” pics. Some Milky Way pics from there would be excellent, wouldn’t they? I’d like to have taken in a concert at Red Rocks too while there but there was noone of interest playing at the time and all tickets would probably have been sold months before anyhow, I guess. Well, I hope you get the chance of your trip to Scotland some day.
2 minute on a full frame 105mm is awesome. On my original MSM best I could do is 30 seconds laser aligned with a 105mm. BTW on a 14mm I can get six minutes, I may have to make an upgrade. Thanks!
