There are many stories about a great master Vincent van Gogh, who did the compilations of colors combinations for his paintings, sorting and folding in different ways multi-colored woolen threads... Perhaps this is just a legend, albeit very believable, however, standard threads helped Konstantin Chaykin invent a new type of clock indicator mechanism. The idea to make an indication of the hour by chains wound on a barrel and forming Roman numerals came when he sat lost in thought and wrapped threads on his fingers. At some point, the threads formed the Roman ‘3’, and then it struck him that it was possible to get all the Roman numerals up to twelve, and for the hour indicator you don’t need any more. And here is an unprecedented chain graphical indicator of the hour, implemented by the master in the new ultra-complicated table clock “Lukomorye”, the work on which is nearing completion. The video shows the hour indicator in action.
