Was amazed to see a CNC in our Vo Tech high school that ran on maybe 1" wide paper tape back in 1966. While doing electrical work in older machine shops in the late 1980's they had some old machines still running on paper tape.
Gcode is a great mention! It would follow up APT a bit later in 1958. Though this video just covered the early foundation of CNC machining, we would love to dive in more in future videos!
Retired electrician that did a lot of work in machine shops and tool & die shops. Best thing I ever had made was a 3" high Mickey Mouse giving the middle finger during first Gulf War. Guy cut a stack of them out of stainless steel on an EDM machine. Still have it in one of my tool chest.
