Hellboy fan here, kudos for mentioning Tad Stones (his role in the production was much more important than del Toro's), the similarity with The Spectacular Spider-Man is no coincidence, Sean "Cheeks" Galloway was responsible for the art style of both projects. I wouldn't call these animated films "spin-offs of the live-action films", they don't share the same continuity. I hope you like Blood & Iron, most fans consider it the best Hellboy film since of the five films (released so far) it's the one that comes closest to the source material, the tone is right and the characters behave as they should behave (different of the three live-action movies), in addition to being so much better than the first one. I imagine you haven't watched the 2019 reboot, consider this both as advice and a warning: DO NOT WATCH IT before reading The Wild Hunt arc (included in volume 3 of the Hellboy omnibuses) and before the third volume of B.P.R.D., the latter is "optional". Believe me... One last thing, the background music is a bit loud.
