It also gives the opportunity to share the current situation with the mod: Update 5 Patch: There is no release date and will be released when ready as we are working on lots of bug fixes and quality of life updates. The 0 gravity bug you may have experienced when loading a save is still under investigation and has proven to be challenging to fix, with only a temporary fix currently in place. Tales of the Galaxy - Dark Forces 2 Duels: The missions/duels are finished and have been for a while now but we want to release the patch first as it contains some required content for the missions to function.
I have the update 5 patch there’s a lot of problems with it I can’t set some of the force powers to the letters I want I doesn’t work do you know why that is did I not install properly also I can’t sprint can you help me please?
@@kansasbeef_ Whilst running, hold the manual block button to start sprinting. All the force powers can be selected for the player or NPC using the menus.
@@MovieDuels I'm wondering if there is/will be a multiplayer mode for this because it looks like it could be interesting with two players battling. Also will you make a video when the Tales of the Galaxy expansion releases?
I think this mod might be trying to replicate the OT lightsaber duels but that's just my thoughts, I'm just saying based on what it looks like, I don't know really. It still looks really good.
You can pull them off whenever you want, you can even try to fight like in original JA. But this game gives a purpose to blocking and makes walking while in combat something logical vs running all the time, which doesn't make sense.
@@Стенька_Пианист IMHO is way more fun needing to use your blade more than your movement and having to dominate your enemy through the sword. You can also run if you want, and is a viable playstyle, but the thing is that walking and blocking now are on par and opens for more playstyles.
Just downloaded this mod. Hats off man! This is one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced in my 20+ years of gaming. Can't wait for the next update! (I'm hoping we get the Kenobi cast as playable characters in the next one!) Keep up the great work!
As of a few survival gameplay and with the new mechanics this game mod offered to me I had the chance to enjoy an extended more interesting way of performing lightsaber fights. The mechanics so far are already very rich and it's just keep getting improved.
Just downloaded the mod, tbh its an amazing mod, very complete. You have missions, duel map (you create your own duels or scenarios) and tons of other stuff. I did need a bit of practice to get the hang of it but overall very nice mod!
I think remember the beginnings of this mod from back in the day. Combat is looking very good now! Did you use any OJP code? I helped with that mod back then. Great use of the off balance/deflection animations! I always thought those were used backwards in OJP combat but I couldn't convince Razorace to change that :p Could use a little more bounce on body hits and some kind of weak block saber animation so it doesn't look like some of the swings should have cut them in half and maybe some more exploits but I don't know combat well enough to say either way.
While I do like more acrobatic style of vanilla, I think the pros of this system brings enough to the table that I can really appreciate both. I like how MD fights are more about control and endurance, and block points in themselves are by far my favorite addition. It adds a bit more risk to how you attack, even if it makes the jumpy moves less viable. And as a side bonus, guns are actually relevant in JKA again, I hated how in vanilla they became basically useless after Hoth because enemies could block them perfectly forever, aside from a lucky rocket. JKA is one of my favorite games ever, so I'm very excited to see what comes in the future!
I like the way it looks, it's amazing! To be perfectly honest, I thought it would be exactly the same as like in MB2, but it doesn't look like you need to face to the exact direction of the swing of your opponent. (Maybe I have missed it.. it is always to fast for me to notice, tbh).
It is our own combat system. If your saber makes contact with an attack then it will block. Doesn't need to be perfect but you get rewarded if you time and aim accurately (triggers slow motion). For example, a perfect block gives you block points back whilst draining your opponent faster. Can also stagger them and affects stamina.

Fun fact in all 3 duels he played for skywalkers, and in 2 duels it was fight between skywalkers (ik kylo is solo, but his mother is leia skywalker so he is skywalker too)

Hey guys, first off, I downloaded the latest version recently and everything just works fine and I freaking love it. I just cant find out how to create your own battles on the many maps available with a bunch of bots either in teams or free for all. Is it even possible? would be a nice feature ^^ Anyway, you're doing an amazing job and the intro gives me chills. Just need to practice my fighting style since I'm used to the default style but the MD is more challenging and therefore more fun
Is there a possibilitie that the mod would become multiplayer that we can play with our friends against bots oor kinda stuff like this? Would be really amazing is the best mod ever! Just sad we cant play it with our friends! :( By any chance there is a mod that is similar like this one? But with MP?

In the MD folder, there is a folder named extras (I think). Inside should be a .pk3 named r_LQBackgrounds, move this into the MD folder with the other .pk3s and try the mod again. If that doesn't work then make sure you have installed everything correctly.
Need more details to know what might be coursing it. What was the last thing you did before it crashed and what map/mode? What combat system? Which characters and NPCs were present?
@@Alvaro_1912 Might be an error in the menu. To access the map, open the console and type "devmap md_tusken" or "devmap duel_tusken". If they don't work, type "devmap md_t", press TAB and find the map from the list.
I was away for a little less than a year and this just keeps getting better and better I love it. though i have one question it says some missions are unavailable is it titled that way because they will be worked on or are there unlockables?
Excuse me, I cannot block normally in this game.. I press the right mouse boutton but nothing happens. What is the normal blocking called in settings??? Attack 2 ??
Hello. on the steam deck it works in linux in .exe on the imported steam library, but white screen on the menu after the title, proton problem or other?
Don't know how or if the mod works on the steam deck but I know it requires Windows. All I can suggest is to make sure Update 5 part 1 and 2 is installed correctly.
So, overall this mod has the potential to become one of the best 'Star Wars lightsaber fight' simulator out there. However the performance is utterly garbage. An over 20 Year old game chugging along on 15 FPS on Systems with 16GB Ram, modern Graphic Cards etc simply isn't acceptable.
It is because the engine is limited to a single core on the CPU and 1GB of RAM. Not much we can do unless we rewrite the backend code for the engine which is unlikely to ever happen due to how big and complex the task would be.
Why are the swings so much slower, it looks like a blast compared to the hyperspeed swings of patch 4, is this changed in patch 5 or did you change up the speeds somehow?
Advanced Lightsaber Combat is one of the combat options of this mod. Due to the great amounts of new mechanics introduced in this mode, the speed is slowed so the player can react better to the enemies attacks.
Installed the Mod yesterday and Im really loving it so far. I have two questions: First, is there a possiblity to see the the charactermodels like Maul, Vader etc. in the cutscenes of the JKJA campaign? I remember back when I played the Knights of the force mod that it worked that way. If not it is no big deal of course :) Second: every time I switch the saber speed to the slower MD speed mode the game either crashes oder the charactermodel becomes a blue green red xyz axis :D. Do somebody know how to fix this issue?
1) The models aren't set up to have JKA campaign support so you would need to edit the files. Maybe in a future update we will add some characters to play as in the campaign. 2) Sounds like something is wrong with the model. Try to reapply your character and saber or try other characters.
For ultimate enjoyment of the combat, please may you consider updating the BLOCK system so it reflects SW movies battles? For noobs like me who don’t have a lot of time on their hands, this will make the experience better.
We have made many improvements to the combat system for update 6 making everything more balanced. Blocking is simple once you get the hang of it: 1) Holding the block button (recommended to have it on right mouse click) will automatically block attacks but you won't be rewarded for it (in block points, stamina, staggering the opponent etc.). 2) What you want to aim to do is, whilst holding the manual block button, hold the attack button and aim your saber using WASD when there is an incoming attack. With accurate timing and direction, you will perform a perfect block rewarding you and weakening the opponent. This makes the system high risk yet high reward.
As the opponent starts to swing, you should try to hold the attack and block buttons and direct your block in the direction of the swing. This triggers a perfect block (in the video you can see it briefly slow down time) and is the best way to block and defeat opponents.
This looks awesome!! You continue to impress and amaze, and prove that Jedi Academy is *still* the best SW game. I have to ask though, why Luke vs Kylo on Exegol? Why stray so far from canon for that fight?
@@tortillitapatatera6634 Rey has lost almost every fight she's participated in, other than against someone who was not trying to kill her and was grievously wounded just prior. And even then, Rey used the quick and easy path to win that fight.
I have some problems while playing Jedi academy mode in movie duels, the texture messes up on certain boards, after you beat Rosh at vaders Castle game crashes I’ve tried reloading and it wouldn’t load just crash, and if you’re not playing as the default Jedi the cutscenes bug out for example if I use the Jedi Knight
I am very gratefull for this mod! Very good work! But I have a question, is it anyhow compatible with Ultimate Weapons mod? I liked the blood graphics of Ultimate Weapons but it does not seem to work.
We have a blood option in settings. If the mod is just a .pk3, then put it into the MD folder (you might need to rename it so it starts with "zz" so it overwrites MD files).
@@MovieDuels Ahhh.. Now I get it! Yes, it's a pk3 file. Just adds some new effects like a bit of blood on the floor. A bit different effects for explosions and weapons. I will try to rename it today! Thanks for the advice! Update: It works now! Thank you very much! :)
Loving the mod so far. This is more of a general question, but what do the different npc classes in the files entail? Mainly asking because I’m curious about the difference between CLASS_Vader npcs and CLASS_Desann type npcs as far as force power usage and AI behavior goes.
I'm not a coder but from what I know classes affect AI difficulty and behaviour in many ways and there are lots of different classes so it is hard to say what each class entails. For example, some classes are coded to use force powers more often, be immune to force powers, be more aggressive or have special abilities and much more. As for CLASS_VADER, it was added by us to give Darth Vader unique behaviour and I think is based on CLASS_DESANN so they are similar. From what I remember CLASS_VADER makes Vader breath, ignore surrenders, disable roll and crouch attacks and probably is made more difficult to fight against. So classes are a way of letting the code/game know how the AI should behave and we have many custom classes, such as CLASS_YODA (Yoda) who is immune to force powers, CLASS_SITHLORD (Palpatine/Snoke) who uses force powers rather than a lightsaber and CLASS_JANGO who has a wrist blaster ability.
Hello, I got this bug with the Update 5, when I tried to change the language of the game to spanish Many of the options dissapeared and now I can't put the game in english again. Also, the Pred Settings don't work to fix it :(
Just FYI there are some bugs and glitches in the game that are starting to get annoying like on the part where episode 1 Yoda and Obi-Wan talk Yoda literally freezes and goes around in circles sorry to bring this up
Don't know if you'll see this but when I try to load a save on the mission things my character is either completely frozen or very slow making the story unplayable

@@MovieDuels It does, there is a model in movie battles 2, he has lvl 1 sense, lvl 2 jump and a gun and a bomb, i would really be happy if you add him, he in the game has 100 health and 50 stamina, hope this helps
@@MovieDuels omg you replied, Whenever i try to install and play the mod it never seems to launch for me, it will just launch Jedi Academy. I have tried many different install videos n what not but can never seem to figure it out. Willing to try again though, this is probably the best star wars mod/game out to date.
Love the mod! Only issue I’m having is when I click Duel Maps I get a mostly frozen screen and I’m unable to move my cursor to select a map, is there something I messed up during installation? TIA!
In the MD folder, there is a folder named "optional". Open it and move "r_LQBackgrounds.pk3" into the MD folder and start the mod. This decreases the resolution of the duel map backgrounds and should fix your issue.
The stances were replaced with blocking stances to make it look more natural and work better with the combat system. This was just changed for MDA mode and they may return but not when you hold the manual block button. The attacks should still be there I think, but if they aren't they will be remade better for a future update.

so do you think i should get Movie Battles over Movie Duels? i don't have much desire to play multiplayer, and i like how this mod looks. have you played both? which one has better lightsaber combat?
@@MovieDuels Okay, can You tell me why i don't have saber damage system in the md mode category? And also why mine gameplay doesnt look like yours (attacks are faster, opponent attacks more, purple bar goes faster than mine etc.)
@@Hjalmareq Okay it's more of a development build for Update 6 rather than Update 5 so that is probably why saber damage system is missing. Everything else should be the same as Update 5, just copy the settings shown at the end if you are aiming for a similar experience. The speed of the attacks depends on the saber style (blue being the fastest and red being the slowest) and the type of attack. The purple bar (block points) going down fast is because I am doing accurate blocking for the most part.
The combat system is still somewhat confusing. Despite holding down perferct blocks, ai just finds a way how to insta-kill you with normal swings (including almost full BP ofc). This makes the entire point of blocking pointless and you rather rely on unblockable moves that can almost one-shot any opponent.... maybe im missing something but. in he settings i found "saber-block" option, how does this affect combat system ?
I think you guys are trying too hard for this "new" saber combat you're trying to fulfill that the game wasn't intended for, just looks irregular. This is why I think some combat systems in games should just be left as they were meant to be, why do you think Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy were such great games from the start? No need to try and change what isn't necessary.
It's personal preference really, some players like having to manual block and it generates a new experience playing JKA/JKO. Also you can easily switch between combat systems in the menu so JKA combat is still available for those who want to use it.
Did you even try learning it? It's great and becomes better and better, since I learned about this mod I can't play this game with vanilla combat system anymore. Still, animations are wacky sometimes and occasionally it doesn't work as expected (it's very good now, yet still not perfect) but it's really a massive improvement for people who like more actual saber combat and not running and front flipping all the time
@@panguin7947 Well that's your opinion and that's okay, more power to you. I can see what they are trying to do to "enhance" the vanilla combat system but it's just not my thing, I'm just old school I guess and prefer a chaotic adrenaline rushed saber fight the way it was intended when the game came out.
