Not gonna say it's particularly scary, but A Serbian Film was horribly disturbing. Not that making it through was hard, but that climax scene will haunt you. As will one or two of the other tidbits sprinkled throughout this "gem". If you aren't disturbed by some of the things in that film, I worry about your sanity.
yes, all i heard was bla bla bla you must see these great shows..... >_> just hope they are not a let down. like most stuff people say is scary and you cant finish, only for it to be mind numbing boring.
@YZFR1mart3 The idea wasn't horror or to shock you. It was 100% to disturb you. I give it a 10/10 for the level of depravation and how disturbing it is. As a movie? 2/10 seems right.
@@Rachelle79 It's not that bad. It's fucked up yeah but just like the vast majority of those films you're left wondering why you watched it. I ended up skipping most of it due to boredom just to see the "shocking" stuff and moved on with my life lol
@@sierrastokes9897 why report my comment? The movie I mentioned is truly the most horrible thing I have ever tried to sit through. I simply couldn't finish it.
Shannen Canton I finished it, hoping for a terrifying payoff. NEVER happened. The story and film in general is good. But yeah, no scary-anything at all.
Veronica is disturbing and sad, more than frightening. If you look at the true story, it is just horribly frightening if you can relate to this young person's experiences. She tried so hard to hold everything together in her family.
Gt5vr34 It really wasn’t. I watched the whole thing. The only movie I think that really ever scared me was the original “Shutter” by Banjong Pisanthanakun. I was bummed they remade it! It doesn’t translate well even though Joshua Jackson did a fine job. But every other movie on here I’ve watch and finished. And there was only one part of ‘Veronica’ that scared me... when that demon was walking through the hall. I can’t believe people are saying it’s scarier that The Exorcist
I agree, ask if those movies bored me to death. Hereditary was the best on the list, but definitely not disturbing to me. Who watched these movies. Halley's Missing should've made the cut!!! Mist disturbing movie I ever saw.
I've seen the first one right after Serbian Film at a horror film festival. It was relaxing and hilarious in comparison. The second one though is completely deranged and utterly disturbing...if the first one got to you, don't even think about watching the second.
@@lukawalli Was the second one the one that was in black and white? I tried watching it and got maybe 20-30 minutes in. I'm curious now to know what was so disturbing about it. As for A Serbian Film... I've seen enough of it to know what it's about, and what gets people skwirming over it.
I actually really enjoyed it. I loathe modern horror movies because they're so cookie-cutter with jumpscares and a "psychological" twist you could see coming from a mile away. Mother! left me feeling devastated and kind of numb at the same time. It wasn't all that scary or even disturbing to watch, but it was well-crafted and interesting.
Totally agree. Was very disappointed in this so called scary film, but I didn't think The Babadook was scary at all either. I guess I look for the off the beaten really twisted to freak me out, not mainstream overhyped films.
It was deffo a good movie. Found it better than other horror movies as it seemed a little more realistic as it was based on a true story. It was not scary though but was interesting. I also think hereditary was awful. It was not scary at all. I was actually extremely bored while watching it.
@@JSMITHSTONES Thats because Hereditary is supposed to be a different kind of scary. A film dedicated not to have cheep jump scares or scary imagry but one to scare the audience with the ambience, the scenery and story. I agree, it's not scary but more creepy. I was more uncomfortable and bit frightened and stayed that way even after the movie. Which was its goal.
After the first 45 minutes of nothing really scary happening, I started playing app games on my phone while watching so maybe I just missed the scary parts.
"Irreversible"... that rape-scene 😵and the guy smashing the other guys face in with the fire extinguisher was brutal!!! "Martyrs" made my skin crawl. Oh yeah, don't forget "The Human Centipede."
A Serbian Film was the only one that actually deserved to be on this list. That shit was terrible and I have never not finished a scary/intense movie until that one. That shit made me sick to my stomach.
I can watch every movie off the list. Every single movie, all night long if necessary, all alone and then I would sleep like a baby afterwards. I did Teeth, Hereditary, 127 Hours, The Great Excstasy and Requiem For A Dream (who is disturbing rather than scary) and A Serbian Movie - some once, others several times. But not the Centipede films. Just reading about the first one on Wiki made me nauseous and to this day I feel sick just hearing about it.
@@leylamansori8663 For me, the Human Centipede is just gross. I can deal with being grossed out, but A Serbian Film literally made me sick in a way that didn't have to do with being grossed out. It made me feel sick that someone would even make that shit in the first place. But I feel like I can watch every other film on this list and be fine.
@@leylamansori8663 I feel the exact same way! I was actually going to reply saying same, except the Human Centipede lol. Lo and behold, ya beat me to it. To this day, I regret watching it. Serbian Film was a tryhard and didn't horrify me like the centipede did. The latter succeeded in pulling me in and sympathizing with the character in a way I wish it didn't. There was too much distance in serbian that I walked away unscathed albeit judging the makers harshly.
I walked out of Cabin fever not because I was scared but because I was determined not to subject myself to anymore of one of the shittiest films ever made
It makes it even worse that they're apparently not even just 'regular' movie-goers, they're people that actually attended film festivals specifically.. You'd think they'd be well versed enough to be able to watch a film without passing out or not being able to finish it... I hope they were banned from future attendance.
You're kidding me right? "Veronica" was possibly one of the most lamest movies i've ever seen. I had purposely watched it at 12am in the night and in the dark... before I even knew it, I had fallen asleep.
I agree. It's not the most gory body horror ever, but for some reason that one has a weird staying power to it for me. It like REALLY messed with me for some reason
blueberrypomegranate I just now finished watching Tusk because of your comment lol. How is a Serbian film meh and Tusk is a movie you had a hard time watching lol. It started off weird but intersting but then it just fell flat and became ridiculous to me lol. And ny god it was soooo drawn out. The jokes were unfunny and the prosthetics looked ridiculous. Everything about it was just bad lol. I wasn’t able to think clearly for days after I watched a Serbian Film lol.
I'm not gonna watch it, just looks like a basic, semi-decent horror flick to me... I guess people give it so much hype because the majority of the audience expected a bs ouija movie with a bunch of jumpscares and what they got was a slightly better version of that... wow, hate horror fans nowadays lol.
Jahaziel fuentes I liked Texas Chainsaw massacre, despite knowing what to expect. The beginning was kinda slow and the ending was kinda confusing but I liked it I haven't seen Veronica but I hear everyone who's watched it either say it's really scary or really boring
When I watched Mother, I had to keep taking breaks every few minutes as the movie started to escalate. It wasn't "scary" but it was very uncomfortable and extremely hard to watch. It was so good.
@@sul-heeyim2714 according to the creator, the movie aims to paint a f*cked up metaphor for what human beings have done to Mother Nature 😩💔😢 it also explores religious themes. The writer being “God”, the son like Jesus, etc. I’d definitely recommend watching interviews with the director. I actually feel terrible for Jennifer Lawrence for doing that film.. it royally f*cked her up. Both emotionally and physically. She injured her diaphragm pretty badly, from the immense stress she was applying to it, with all the hyperventilating/screaming/crying. Plus she was actually in a rather abusive relationship with the director at the time.. it really seems like he completely took advantage of her, and her vulnerability towards him in real life.. and used his psychological upper hand to push her waaaay past all her limits, in order to pull the most extreme and raw performance out of her as possible. With no regard for her well-being. She definitely doesn’t speak fondly of her experience filming that movie, which just makes it a MILLION times darker. 😩😩😩 I couldn’t bring myself to finish it, after I figured out what was happening to the baby… but I do know what happens. Insanity.
Hereditary had amazing acting. Sure the movie wasn’t scary, but you have to admit. Some points were pretty unsettling. Especially the ending. I personally thought it was a great movie. People need to understand that jumpscares aren’t the only factors that make a horror movie great.
I disagree, it is the worst horror movie ever made. I love horror but in the cinema i Just got angry, i had such high expectations and i felt lied to. It was a damn comedy. Wish i would have never spent a Penny on that movie.
It's not disturbing either. Have you never seen teeth inside a vagina? They're quite common these days. Best contraceptives ever for young girls who don't want to get raped.
Tan Newton true. I like good horror films with great plot and I love the adrenaline rush I get while watching them but I generally stay away from horrors because I get nightmares afterwards and can’t sleep. But Teeth was just hilarious. I heard reviews about it that said it was scary but it wasn’t. It was actually funny
I think Requiem For A Dream belongs on this list. That is truly a disturbing, but realistic, take on addiction and shows you the downward spirals of each character with no holds barred.
agree!! I watched it with some mates on a sunday morning after a rave. We all stopped talking for about an hour and the party weekend was definitely over for all of us.
@ihax.inc I know right!? It was actually quite interesting up till the point the girl died, then by the end it was so weird, like how am I meant to find a cult of naked old people scary?
There was one so terrifying and so mind blowing that I couldn't even start it! I dare anyone to watch five minutes without having their eyeballs explode and their brain melt out their ears from sheer horror! I think its called Twilight.
D D agreed. I know people that are like "oh ive seen human centipede, nothing is too much for me". NO. Serbian film and Salo over here. Watch those and then talk to me about not being fazed by anything. Serbian film i think is the only film ive ever seen that actually almost made me throw up and that says a lot.
This video was too disturbing to finish - 90% Netflix advertisement. Where is David Lynch on the list? The lady in the radiator can't be unseen and will forever haunt you.
David Lynch's movies aren't horror. They aren't even gory. They definitely have an ominous underbelly but I don't know anyone that was too *scared* to finish a David Lynch film.
Lord Chin Chin You are partly correct. Where as the majority of Lynch's films are thriller orientated - Eraserhead is most definitely a horror. This video isn't called "horror movies too scary to finish" - its "Movies too disturbing". Its just unfortunately used a group of poor horror films in a bid to promote them.
Serbian film has scarred me for life. The only movie I've felt extremely disgusted by. It never should've been made. To make a movie like that, you must be a pure psychopath to even make those things up and can have those thoughts.
@@carolinarobles7599 I, unfortunately, did see the whole shit. But somewhere in my mind I think that the ending was a little easier, I'm not sure though. It is awful, sick, twisted and horrible.
You're kidding, right? Veronica almost made me fall asleep. It's second tier at best. I finished it out of principle. I never walk out or stop watching a film.
I remember when my "back then" local dvd selling store had a sale. 10 movies for 10€. Amongst them was the movie Teeth. I went into it with no expectations and it was... well. More hilarious than scary :P I was maybe like what.. 14-15 at the time? No idea how people rate these lists.... Sure people will always be different. But too disturbing to watch? Come on..
@S R i guess it depends on if you believe in demonic possession? if you do not then i see it could be portrayed as a load of nonsense. The uncut version was very clever, Due to the subliminal Images hidden in The Exorcist. But yea what happened during and after was very weird. Or perhaps a remarkable coincidence??? 🤔
@S R Yea that's true. Supposedly based on a boy. Of course it's down to personal taste. Without sounding like a mental case I do indeed believe in Dark powers. They have been practised for many years. So things that could possibly happen scare me. Rather than a slasher movie. Tho The Exorsist some of the scenes are of dramatic effect. I guess if not it would make a really boring movie.
It did happen to a boy, in the 1950's in St Louis, At a hospital called Alexian Bros. From what I understand the room were the exorcism happen, has been seal off, and brick in. The priest who preformed the exorcism, died just a few years ago.
@@paulalvey2675 oh really. 🤔 I must read about that one. Oh I have heard of lots of them. The infamous exorcism of "Anneliese" Michel a German girl, Which the film exorcism of Emily rose was based on. There are many that have been documented.
Disagree with most of the list. Considering your title's theme of "disturbing", I might suggest some replacements: Begotten Martyrs Antichrist Taxidermia Thanatomorphose Tetsuo the Iron Man Possession (1981) Contracted
Jeimmy Casillas I mean there isn't a movie that can really disgust me. I have seen Veronica, Hereditary, Mother! All of them boring and not slightly scary. But the serbian movie is really fucked up.
Please read the title clearly before leaving a comment proving you didn't. It says disturbing, it doesn't have to be scary at all. I watched A Serbian Film back in 2011 and I'm still disturbed by it today. I wouldn't wish that on anybody. The scenes stay burned into your memory.
Mr Debunker I completely agree. I watched it a couple days ago, and I was shocked and I felt SO SICK. I kept remembering the scenes and JUST UGH. It was EXTREMELY crazy and so messed up, I regret watching it.
Greywarden Dragonborn It’s absolutely the worst thing ever, I do not even recommend this movie to someone I hate to watch this movie. It contains a child in a sexual/abuse situation as well and there is much gore in this. I don’t recommend this!
@@designerspiderThe film it based on biblical metaphors. People didnt get it, Hence why many thought it was crap. I thought it was quite good. As for Veronica 95mins of my life i will never get back.
@@diamondsareforever7796 Yes, and I didn't get it right away. It admittedly took me most of the movie to figure it out. I WAS going to watch Veronica because I've watched so many videos and things on it and thought, I can give it a chance, but most people here said it was awful, so I'll pass.
@@designerspider Yea it took me a while to figure it out. And trust me your right to give Veronica a miss. Not only is it shit. You have to read subtitles not unless you can speak fluent spanish. Its just not worth it. 👎
If you've seen dead alive then you'd understand peter Jackson has far deeper roots in horror than just lord of the rings fame. He also wrote a script for nightmare on elm street 6 that wasn't used.
Yes, I found Salo to be distubing and disgusting. It is on par with A Serbian Film. The rest of these movies are extremely tame. I did enjoy the top-notch cast and directing of Hereditary, but it wasn't scary at all, and was just a predictable slow burn Rosemary's Baby knock off.
There is another movie or a few others that I am surprised that didn't make the list. 1. Irreversible 2. I Saw The Devil 3. Martyrs 4. The Exorcist 5. Hostile 6. Cannibal Holocaust
Veronica was 100% pure hype. The audience wasn't too terrified to finish, they were just bored as hell. If Netflix actually read reviews they would see it for themselves; but they are oblivious. The movie was nothing I haven't seen before. It was dreadful having to sit through such a boring movie.
Yeah, and there wouldn't be much sex either... overpopulation solved :D It was kind of a good movie by the way... but for the male audience it's quite painful to watch.
@@haydeng3316 not true, in the movie the teeth only come out when she doesnt trust the person she is with. She has sex at the end with someone she loved.

Have you ever seen I saw the devil, I've seen my share of Serial killers, cannibals, and psychopaths but I saw the devil is hands down one of the most disturbing.
Mother wasn't a horror film. Outstanding movie and yes difficult to watch, but I didn't think it was horror. As for A Serbian Film, idc what message he was trying to send. I refuse to ever watch something so vile.

@@wob1027 depends on your reasons for watching it. For the experience alone, no it's not really worth it. It's not really for the ethically squeamish. However it may be worth seeing if you are both curious and have a strong mind for this sort of thing. It does try to push all of your buttons in ways most movies wouldn't dare, and it's very confronting about it. I mean as a movie, it's more of a wake up call than anything. 100% a shock tactic boundary pusher. Wouldn't necessarily recommend the watch if you are a parent though, 4 years on and those final scenes still irk me a little to think about... and I'm not exactly a sheltered mind.
Most people stopped watching these movies because they were stupid, not because they were “too disturbing” to finish. These movies are ridiculously overkill. It’s just for shock value with no actual good plot, characters, and/or direction. Now Hereditary was good but it wasn’t as scary as they made it. IMO
I agree with u there is this new trend in 'horror' movies where instead of horror they just do gore or disturbing scenes for the shock value rather than to add the story. This makes you bored after a while and u don't see the point of watching the film and becomes another gore feast.
That's dumb. Jennifer Lawrence is great, and she was truly great in the movie. In fact, her and Bardem were the only things worth seeing in that film, cause the rest is just atrocious, and once it ends, you can't believe Aronofsky wasted your time with such a dumb film.
