You'll be fine in Taiwan. IMO Taiwan is much English-friendlier than Japan in general. And Taiwanese people are notoriously known for being friendly and accepted towards foreigners. The Island may not be as flashy as Japan but you'd be surprised how much Taiwan can offer. Enjoy your new journey.
I’ve noticed how friendly everyone was there three times I came here 👏🏻 also especially last year I noticed how English friendly a lot of places were and how many people spoke English with me which was very surprising after being in Japan for so long haha
*Don't forget to thumbs up this video* Thank you everyone for watching along !! Editing style is slightly different & I hope you can still enjoy ♥️ I had to remove hospital scenes due to privacy issues BUT, I didn’t wanted to share. As for my job, I reveled it (thank you for waiting!) IF you have any questions, plz leave them here & ill make video answering them once I’m settled in Taiwan ♥️
Does T know any Chinese? Do you have any plans for which job you would like to do in Taiwan? Also i like the editing but the white text was sometimes hard to read.
You and your husband saying goodbye in the doorway was so sweet! Hope your quarantine is going well. Looking forward to continuing to watch your videos , you're such a lovely person.
Wish you a great time in Taiwan. I am so sure you will have another fantastic journey there. If you need any help or advice in Taiwan, feel free to ask us.(We are Taiwanese and Polish couple vlogger) We will try our best to help you. Take care and enjoy your new life in Taiwan. We will keep following your new content :)
It says a lot that your friends all kept this news quiet for you and T. It is months of these people being careful about what is said or shown to ensure your privacy was protected during this process. It's touching to witness the close bonds that exist among such a large group of people around the world. I'm looking forward to the rest of this series. Thanks for all your effort to put this mini-documentary together for us, Jenn. It's appreciated.
I’d love to see a Q&A about your experience as a language teacher. My undergrad is applied linguistics and I’ve always wanted to teach abroad. Thank you for sharing your experience throughout this process as well. I’m excited for you and T’s future in Taiwan!
Thank you !! I definitely plan on doing a Q&A once I’m settled in Taiwan because I think a lot of people have questions about teaching English in Japan .. and I have experience with the good, the bad, and the weird lol
You didn't cry omg, you have balls of steel!!!!!! When I moved abroad the first time I had to go 6 weeks ahead of my husband, he brought me to the airport & said "alright this is as far as I can go.." & I just started sobbing uncontrollably, my heart was absolutely broken 😂😭😭 this vlog & seeing your journey is bringing all those emotions flooding back, its so much to deal with, esp keeping it under wraps!!
Haha I think I’m not good with crying sometimes.. I tend to keep it in until I’m alone and then let it out. Also, I didn’t want to burden him with worry if that makes sense since he is the one leaving. I do however think that’s adorable you cried at the airport!! When I watch couples do that when I’m waiting for flights or to pick up people, I usually tear up!
There were so many times that I felt like I could cry! And probably just from my own anxiety of knowing what it's like to move, though certainly not from one country to another. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. And I really look forward to seeing your exciting new journey!
Thank you very much!! How sort moving in general is just stressful no matter where you’re going. It’s very rewarding once you’re all settled in tho 👏🏻♥️
Coming soon!!!! I’ll film it once I’m settled in Taiwan 🇹🇼 and actually you’d be surprised lol. Some loved me and some not so much... english is mandatory so, a lot of students don’t like learning English 😂 I’ll elaborate more in the q&A
I'm super looking forward to your Moving to Taiwan series since you shared about it on Insta. I'm interested in Q&A or sharing your experiences as an English teacher in Japan! Excited to see your Taiwan vlogs(not many English-speaking Taiwan vloggers..)!!!😁😁👍👍
Jenn I'm so excited to follow your life in Taiwan. Although I originally followed you for the Japan content I look forward to your future uploads because you're such a wonderful person and your videos are so interesting!! ❤
I'm extremely excited to see your journey in Taiwan! And boy, would I have been a mess without my partner for that long. Having moved abroad twice before I completely understand all the work and emotions you're going through. You're definitely a tough cookie, you rock girl!
man this brings back memories of when I moved from Canada to Europe. Best of luck on your new journey in Taiwan, I look forward to seeing what you get up to while living there :)
Thank you for taking us on this adventure with you. This is so exciting to see, with all the things you had to go trough and the new ones coming. I can't wait to see more❤️
Thank you for sharing this! As someone who is moving abroad in a year as an adult with a full house of stuff, it is cool to see someone else do it. Can't wait to see more of Taiwan :)
Wow, what an awesome video... Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us :D I also really loved the editing style on this one, and everything in the cutaway shots with you is just perfection.
I'm so happy and excited for you! I love how you put so much already in part 1. It's not as scattered as you thought but I'm sure you still feel your life is all over the place. I've been seeing your quarantine meals which has been fun.
I def still feel some parts are random but, we are our own worst critics lol. And the quarantine meals have been great!! One day I was given a whole bird (possibly a tiny chicken) 😂👌🏻
@@LayersOfJenn lol I cant disagree that we are our worst critics. I wonder if it was similar to a cornish hen. They're like little personal sized chickens. All I know is your posts looks so good. 🤤
We’re so proud of you. Personal and professional growth is important. Prayers for you an your husband, everything is going to be spectacular. Can’t wait to see every part of your journey. May your heart’s be always filled with love and happiness anywhere your path leads you. Blessings for both of you. 😊
I am so excited for you! I know things are strange but I, for one, cannot wait to explore with you. I had a feeling you were a teacher (being a teacher myself, my teacher-senses were right!) I've loved seeing your posts on Instagram too - that food! Can't wait for the next instalment! x
This got me feeling really emotional, it must have been such an ordeal moving away and I could imagine how much you missed your husband. All those shots toooo, wow. Really looking forward to the rest of the moving vlogs though and all the Taiwan content! ❤️
I got a little choked up seeing you say goodbye to T. And I'm glad you got to spend some time with friends. Cool that you're learning Chinese too!! I'm super excited for you guys and can't wait to see Taiwan! Been enjoying seeing your quarantine meals on Twitter.
Me: *sees my painting on the wall.* You: “TIME TO THROW STUFF AWAY 🤪” I’m so proud of you doing a lot of this(most of this) alone. It’s so nice to see some of the behind the scenes ... everything falling into place after knowing what’s been going on w you and T.
LayersOf_Jenn hehehe I know it was just funny timing in the video. I’ll have to paint you a nice big one one day and bring it to you in Taiwan~ Of course you know I’m always here no matter the distance. You got a nice little group of people in your corner~!🖤
Good luck to you Jen! You’ve been so strong going through all that :) you’re amazing. Love how you’re showing this full experience to all of us. I’m a teacher myself (10 years this year) and I REALLY want a video about teaching in Japan. One of my secret dreams is to go abroad (Japan) and do teaching though English isn’t my first language :/
Wow! I command you on putting yourself out there and figure things out all on your own. Don't know if I had the courage or endurance to move myself back to Taiwan where I was born. But this encourages us that it is possible it's just if you are willing to take action and be responsible for our decisions! Thank you 😊
Moving to another apartment/home is overwhelming enough. Moving to another country adds so much more to the anxiety. Thank you for taking time to vlog your experience and to share it with us! I've been looking at videos on Taipei since you announced your move and I'm getting more excited about watching your future videos! I know you'll bring the extra "layers" of honesty, quality, and fun to your vlogs! I hope all is going well and you're reunited with T soon! ❤❤
I agree! Being an ALT is such a mixed bag of experiences! The needle thing is so bad! I have what a nurse dubbed shy vains. They can never find them, but I’m glad I don’t have to get blood drawn too often. Can’t wait for the next episode!
Omg whyyyy is that term “shy veins” so freaking adorable 🥺♥️ my heart cannot handle lol. And yes being an ALT is such a mixed bag. It really depends on your school and skill set etc to determine what a school expects from you
Very interesting, enjoying this journey with you . You’re not alone ! Hugs and kisses from LA where it was 117 degrees F just a few days ago.watching your videos and maplesushi vids give me life . God bless you and your husband
I really thought you did something related to social media or something. I’m surprised! Great vlog as always! 😊 can’t wait to see your Chinese progress!
This felt a bit like a documentary and im here for it 😊 That must of been a hard few weeks on your own during the pandemic ..... im glad its over for you 😊
Haha I’m glad it felt that way!! I was at a loss on how to connect some of the clips without it feeling super random. Hopefully it felt somewhat cohesive 🙏🏻
Oh wow this brought back so many feels for me. So many memories from when I moved abroad! The vaccinations are brutal! I had to have 7 in one day due to time restrictions. When you started talking about your friends I started to tear up, but I for one have realised that my bond with my friends has grown, even if we are far away. The conversations become more meaningful and I get excited to see how they have grown as people. At first it was hard not to get jealous seeing them out together but it also brought peace that they are happy and healthy! They will want to hear about everything you are doing which will make it fun for you to try and share as well! No better time to do this! You’ve got this! Can’t wait to see more vlogs!
Thank you very much! This video is a little bit different and out of my comfort zone when it comes to the editing but I’m glad that you guys are enjoying, seriously 😭♥️
My arms felt for you having to go through all the needles. But it was seeing the goodbye with T that just got me so emotional. It must have been so stressful with everything going on, you're a complete superwoman! ❤️ So excited to see the rest of the series!
It was super stressful and my WORK life (I didn’t share the drama here) made is ten times worse lol... but at least it’s all done !! I can sit and reflect through quarantine!
I finally got around to watching this and please oh please tell me why I was just full-blown sobbing when you said goodbye to T oml. Can't wait for the rest of the series! x
I'm so happy for your upcoming journey! I felt all the emotions and the uneasiness you felt at the time you were filming this. I can't believe you had to go through this, but now that the cat's out of the bag, you got us girl!
I’m so happy I can finally share haha. I wanted to share earlier but with smart backs and delays on moving.. I didn’t want to get everyone’s hopes up etc. Thank you for watching ♥️♥️
Excited for a Q&A! I’d love to learn about saving money in Japan on an ALT salary, specifically with entry level positions. I’ve always wanted to come but am fearful money will be too tight with Tokyo’s cost of living. Hope you are safe and settled in your new home ❤️
So happy and excited for you!!! Thank you so much for sharing your journey! Looking forward to more! Wondering what qualifications you needed as an ALT, how you applied for jobs and which grade did you enjoy teaching the most!
@@LayersOfJenn yes!!!! im sad that we didnt get to meet when you were living in Japan T_T I had no idea you were moving ! but yes! definitely when I go to Taiwan/you come to Japan we can finally meet! ♥
I love how real you keep your videos. I learn a lot, both about fun stuff and serious things too! You’re so strong Jenn, sending lots of love! Can’t wait to see your journey 🥰💐
Thank you for sharing such touching journey of your life. I surely will miss seeing Japan through you but hey let's see Taiwan. You will soon be united with T❤❤
Hi Jenn! Thanks so much for sharing this whole journey with us! Also your hair in the sit-down-situation looks so good! Omg taking blood is something that I also can't handle well. Seeing you taking down the shelves was so bitter sweet, I'm somehow getting very emotional here, since I also moved from Germany to Korea and we'll leave Korea at some point in the future. It's amazing how you handled everything in Japanese, I'm very impressed. Looking forward to the next episode!! :))
Such a bittersweet time! Sad to see you move from your cozy apartment but so excited to see the process of moving to Taiwan, learning through you about what it's like to live there, and your new life! Good luck on the rest of quarantine and next steps :D
So bittersweet !! I can’t finally sit and enjoy all the new experiences and opportunities waiting for me in Taiwan now that everything is almost finished :)
Wow, you’ve been through so much and in a pandemic too, good job , you managed to do it lol. It must have been very stressful, missing T, worrying if he was ok there and trying to keep yourself safe too. You got it done though, even learning Chinese and all about Taiwan. You’ve got it done now, it’s over, you’re on to the exciting adventure part, getting a new apartment, decorating, discovering a new country, I can’t wait to follow the process and see the new place. Will you be looking for a new job there eventually? I know when I finished working full time I missed the kids so much I started doing substitute work if people couldn’t make it to work I’d go . That was a lot of shots , it was probably the rabies shot that hurt so bad, I’ve heard they are quite painful. You’re probably back with T now and that will help . Take care, be safe. 🙋🏼🥰
It might have been the rabies !! I’m not sure which one but omggggg I almost fainted 😂💀 And as for right now, I don’t have plans to work. My plan is to settle and get used to things & then go from there :)
Ahhh I was so emotional when you had to say goodbye to T 😢It must be weird for you both to now be in the same place but having to deal with your quarantine! Looking forward to the rest of the moving vlogs & hoping the rest of the quarantine/moving process goes smoothly for you both! 💕
This is so emotional! I hope you're doing ok and best of luck with your new life in Taiwan. (Also very excited to keep watching you while you're there as well!) がんばって!!
Absolutely cannot wait for the next video. I really think this is some of your best stuff ever. Still can’t wait to see Taiwan! Watching this a second time through.
I figured you started off teaching and had moved on to a different type of job. The way you would explain things about your job, the times you would leave for work(before school began) till leaving time, weekends free, the schedule sounded like an ALT but for some reason I didn't think you were a teacher. Well, Good luck, make videos of your process in Taiwan and of course, an apartment tour.
Yes I was teaching !! I had opportunities to change but, honestly the schedule of teaching was too good for me to change haha. Thank you & im exciting to get started with life here
A year later, I'm ready for Round 4 of rewatching every video you've made since you decided to move to Taiwan 😶😬 I won't comment spam but if you see a sharp spike in views, it's me yet again 😅😂 Wish me luck, lovely! November 2022 please, Taiwan!
Omg your friends are so cute 😍😭 I'm not crying. I'm crying. When I lived in Japan my partner left ahead of me, too. It's so hard. I know you're loving the food in quarantine now but much love to past Jen going through this ❤️
I feel like that’s normal for the partner who is working to always go first and then the next follow!! And you’re right about the quarantine food, it’s top notch!! I’ll be leaving quarantine with a few extra rolls (not the bread kind) 😂😂😂
Girl I know that weird feeling of knowing you're going to be reunited with your spouse but it feeling like it's so far away! My husband taught a year in JP, he left ahead of me and I had to wait to join him. We ended up being apart for about 4 months. I wasn't alone but felt very lonely. We're all proud of how well you seemed too handle all of the move stuff and can't wait to see more! For the Q&A: Being an ASL were you allowed to speak Japanese to your students? What subjects did you teach?
You understand my position 100% then!! A lot of people I know that came to japan to teach through JET, their spouses cane after they were all settled!!
"I'm right handed but she found this juicy fat boi" 😵😵. Needle-lady NO. ❤️❤️❤️ Also Lily reppin us STILL eating that grass. 😂 I love how you pieced this together and am excited for more episodes!
Haha she really did spy him from across the chair!! 😂 And I’ll miss y’all ♥️ the little overnight stay we all had was AMAZING. And all the champs y’all brought too 😉
Kemushinchan Nooooo girl!! You should have grab her by the ankles and hold on. Make her not leave😂🤣🤣🤣. Yes you girls had such great time and captured on amazing videos.. I Miss it already!!😥
I started tearing up watching you say goodbye to T... 😥 I mean, I know you guys are meeting up again in Taiwan, but it must've been so hard to be apart and having to work through the final weeks of moving on your own. But I was really glad to see that you were able to spend some time with friends, even in the midst of this pandemic. 😌💕
I guess I’ve been watching your channel for a year now and I think is really cool that you kept your occupation a secret the whole time. It never really occurred to me that you never mentioned your work and I actually assumed you worked in an office setting in corporate Japan. Well good luck on all the new stuff. I’m looking forward to see what Taiwan is like from a different perspective. I actually watch another RU-vidr that does motorbike vids with lots of commentary on the culture. It will be neat to see the differences in what y’all find interesting enough to mention. 👍
Haha well I was the only foreigner in my school. Everyone I worked with was japanese (only a few speaking English) so, in its own way.. a corporate setting! There is very much a hierarchy within the teachers lol. And thank you very much for the support ♥️
I really enjoyed this video and the editing style! ❤️ I got emotional watching this video because it kind of mirrors my life right now. Today is my the last day in the US before I move to another country in Europe for university for three years. It has been really hard to say good bye to family and friends, but I know that it will be an amazing experience abroad. I wish you the best of luck in Taiwan! 😄
I know this is probably really hard on y’all. Good luck! I cannot wait to see the upcoming videos! There isn’t a single RU-vidr I follow who lives in Taiwan
