wow, I just watched this video thinking it was brand new especially with the talk of Swedes and your current trip to Sweden. I always enjoy Japan apartment tours! Thanks.
I absolutely love the cactus holder that Kyde made in the van. Lol! I have been binge watching your videos. I love them!!! Hopefully Japan is in my future!
Yayy! The adventure continues. When I finished part 4 of your life in Japan series, I thought the fun was over hahaha. Thanks so much for these, It's been fun watching your integration into Japanese culture.
Yes, we are very much used to our new city. It's not as good as our old one, but it's close to work! Congratulations on coming to Japan! Hope we see you around too!
Thanks for showing your apartments and the move between them. It must have been very stressful but you guys kept smiling to the end. Glad you guys got that upper floor apartment. Looking forward to the next vid!!!
Our Kumagaya apartment was around USD $550 without utilities. The price is pretty good, but it was far from Tokyo (1 hour by train) and it was a good bit away from the station (10 minutes by bike).
We moved here because it sounded like an adventure. We are working on a video that will cover all the things like costs and such, hopefully you'll see it when it's finally finished.
It's so cool that you guys documented some of this stuff. In 20 years you totally would have forgotten that you taped that cactus to the dashboard. Maybe I did that years ago but forgot because I didn't videoblog it. : (
Motivation - We visited it before and felt that it would be comfortable to live in. That's pretty much it. Plan - We only planned to stay for 1 year and now we're working on year 3. Who knows what's gonna happen!
Keep the videos coming and keep doing the city travels around the cities and so on insightful and enjoyable keep them up. Thanks for the general information about the cities and things to do helpful in a lot of things.
Yes, they exist, but most apartments/homes don't have them. They take up a lot of room and most people just hang dry their clothes here. The apartments are equipped for hanging laundry. Most apartments will have a balcony with special hooks for holding a very long pole to put your laundry on. It works really well! Dryers are mainly used at coin laundry places.
In their blog they wrote "We have been super super busy this past month! We moved from Kumagaya, both started new jobs, have had two birthday parties and Kyde's brother is visiting! This video covers the move we made from Kumagaya to Saitama-shi at the start of April. Then yesterday we moved AGAIN to a different apartment in our building. Yea....super busy!"
We would be willing to live in both Japan and S.Korea. We have spend 5 weeks in S.Korea and had an awesome time. Your question is a bit hard to answer, but if you watch our "Living in Japan" videos it will give you a good idea of what the first year here was like for us.
We plan to make a video about all of that, but we just haven't done it. The easiest way is to teach English here. Basically you need a 4 year degree and then you can qualify for a visa teaching English. If someone hires you they sponsor you and from there it's all fairly easy. Some countries have special arrangements for temp working visas here, but I'm not sure if Canada is one of them.
Thanks for another great video. I really think that the both of you would be great to have as friends. You both are the best! So entertaining to watch your adventures! Stay happy!
Haha, yea, it's been tight. We had three friends stay the night once too, it was a little cramped. I'm glad the video wasn't too long, I was worried it was going to be long winded and boring.
I have being watching your videos for some time now, and I love them, me and my fiancée are planning to move to Japan (not too soon, but like a year from now or two), and thanks to your videos we are getting the picture a little bit clearer, but I must ask, there's any advice that you could provide us for looking for a job there from the other side of the world? Also, why did you left Kumagaya? It seems like a paradise on your videos. Thanks a lot for your videos
Glad to see your move went pretty smooth, loved the walk throughs. You two are so cool. Relieved to see the toaster made it for sure. Did they make you guys pay another cleaning fee? Hope not. Thanks for sharing as always and we hope you two enjoy the new small life.
Wondering if they have the all-in-one washer/dryer (one machine does both) combos like they do in Britain. If so, how much more do they cost in comparison to just the washer? Thnx.
I have a question for you guys its japan boring because when Eric was walking there was no one outside like you know walking ridong a bike or something or is it because like Eric said it was Sunday??? It really looks like a depressing place why it looks like that?
Granted, Ryan is living alone and has lived in Japan for over ten years. He may also have some issues with depression. But I don't disagree, Kyde and Eric make pretty awesome videos.
Thank you so much, that helped me out so much. there are three courses for teaching English As A Second Language that I can take here. One is eight months, four classes a week. One is normal five days a week for three semesters. Then one is the same but three to four years. I guess I'm gonna have to take the short one and work as a tutor or TA for a few years while I get the full degree.
I love all your videos of japan. Most jvloggers only show the good parts but your videos seem like a better representation of japan if that makes sense
Drove once on my delivery like that little van and lucky it's easy drive that I only need to stick to one lane so even I got slow at times I don't need to worry not seeing when switch lanes. Kyde must have some mean driving skills (Y)
+Kurt Miller Not sure why you are spending time in Kumagaya as it's kind of dull for tourists. But if you are there go to Hideman on a Friday or Saturday night. Get the sake, fried chicken and the crab legs of you are up for the price of them. The place is amazing. Here is a video about it, there is a map in that video's description. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Oj3OsWScBWU.html
+Kyde and Eric Yeah, it seems to be rather dull for tourists, but mostly because for the week it'll cost us 550,000 yen total for two people in a twin room, also tokyo had only capsule hotels or double beds available and was still more expensive! Hideman you say? You sold me on sake and fried chicken! :D
What's it like moving to Japan? More specifically, I'm an aspiring ESL teacher from Canada, and while I currently have a lot of fun tutoring foreigners from the orient and plan to teach the many people who move here from Vietnam, China, Korea, and Japan, I hope one day that I can move to either Korea or Japan. In summary, what in your opinion are the biggest hurdles towards moving there as an English teacher, and would you recommend Japan over somewhere like South Korea on Vietnam?
I LOVE watching you two! You guys are SO fun! What made you decide to move there? How much was it to move and how much is living expenses? I dont mean to ask something so personal but its hard to find out!
I'm in the process of trying to learn the rules for moving to Japan. I've seen a lot from your videos on what to expect, but it's near impossible to find information about the rules they have for immigration and work visas in Japan, that is unless I go to a nearby Embassy here in Canada that is a 200$ boat ride and a three hour city bus hopping trip just to get to.
Woww this video guys is just amazing and quite useful for me because I'm moving to Saitama in 3 weeks and I am so excited to be there! Are you already used to the new city? I hope I see you guys around when I get there! Greetings from Spain! :)
Hah, we literally moved again yesterday to a different apartment in the same building. It has a higher loft so we can both stand up in it! Otherwise it's exactly the same though.
Ok, wait... at 2:32 any chance that is the same jar of lingonberry preserves? jam? spread? goo... that was seen being unbagged in approx. Dec 2011 towards the end of 4 0f 4 after the Costco run? And it was so popular that it was relegated to the entry way cubby closet?
Haha, nah, we went through that stuff pretty fast. We were always getting new jars. It was in the entry way closet just because it was a spare jar. -Eric
Hee hee, whew! I was about to feel sorry for it, as it seemed to have been presented with such joy. BTW the last shot, which is about .04 seconds long, of Emma & Kyde hoe-downing to Swedish? music around an even tinier than a Charlie Brown Xmas tree is heeesterical!
All of these videos are awesome - you two are so amusing. Compared to other "living in Japan" videos, these are the best :D. Everyone else is either boring or makes Japan look boring. As much as I love Japanese culture, I don't think I'd be happy living there, but I plan on going on vacation there within a year.
