House #2 was my modern dream house. Loved the yard and the double garage. The layout, the privacy, the fact that the Primary bedroom is separated 😍 Gorgeous!
I kind of hate how "character" has come to mean old. I thought #2 had a lot of character, just modern style. It wasn't cookie cutter at all to me, which is what I think of as lacking in character, where all the houses are similar. It's cool if people don't like that style (and I do kind of prefer a more farmhouse style myself), I just wish they wouldn't say it "lacks character."
The 3rd house was stunning! I love the house. Good mix between old and new- kitchen area and outdoor spaces. Also noticed that many people can't vision their own furniture and decor in the houses they view!
Australia is expensive but these prices are because they are super close to the city. Go out the suburbs more, where most people live, and they wouldn’t need to compromise for 2 mill at all.
Good compromise on house 1. I'm actually quite relieved the husband didn't get his hands on the 3rd house. Those carefully restored and maintained features, even the quite nicely updated bathrooms... and he thought he'd have to rip them all out? Believe me, the UK has its own share of house-dwelling spiders and vintage properties carefully maintained: had he never seen them?
Adelaide is a relatively cheap city in Australia. The prices in Sydney, Melbourne etc are far higher. The eastern suburbs of Adelaide are the most expensive. Hazelwood Park and Beulah Park are further out from the CBD. I miss these old character homes in Adelaide.
Holy WOW!! 2 million for that small 1st house?? Happy for them, their neighborhood, their choice, but wow sticker shock for me, and they saved for a long time! Great they have family close by, life is all about family and relationships, and the experiences we share. Sweet family!
Yay! I’m so glad they chose the house they chose. The modern house is pretty, but living there would be lonely and the size would be overwhelming to maintain.
#2 was my dream house my eyes 👀 lite up when I saw it loved the layout, the overall estectic, but I'm glad they found the one they both could agreed on.. ,cheers🥂
The 2nd house is great but why did she show them it. $500,000 is not a "little but" over budget. That is an extra 1/4th of their budget. I get the husband was willing but as the wife I would have been pissed lol
Price is not just about the house. Location is a major determinant in the price. We dont know about the location to judge if its truly expensive or not.
@@tivet4 Well, the heritage house was definitely different and not my taste, but the other two are similar to the houses in N. America. Therefore, for the most part, I really like Australian homes as much as much as the U.S. & Canada homes.
John doesn't have a clue and should listen to the locals more. They will tell him spiders are not a problem nor would maintenance be on an old house just because it is old. Luckily a a viewer has said, it missed a bullet from being sold to inexperienced potential vandals.. His kids will outgrow the man cave because they will enjoy being outside: a new experience for them.
The modern contemporary home was the real gem out of the choices. He should've stuck to his guns! When the boys grow, they will regret not investing in the larger home.
House #2 felt like an office building. Looked nice, just not as a full time home. #3 was charming with character but had TOO MUCH character. I fully agree with the museum comment lol
although i like the idea of doing up a historic house, need to postpone the move or rent elsewhere during the reno ...plus, prepare large reno margins ...glad some balance with first option, just sort out office for her hubs
WOW, She has to be a bad agent if they have to compromise on a 4 +2 small house with a 2 mil budget. IT would be NICE to watch an agent the actually listens to their client and does not have one negative comment.
That HOUSE 2 would be a dream house. It's just 4 of them but the 1st house they chose somehow looked so tight for 4 of them. HOUSE 2 would've been for a long term despite the $500k over budget. Ngl, they chose the worst one among the choices, imo.
It's ridiculous what they want for average ( unimpressive homes) Will our grand children be able to afford a home 20 years from now? Or will greed / over-priced homes take over?😢
The price was absolutely insane for what they got for $2 million. Somebody needs to see a psychiatrist really it’s unbelievable that and it’s not even that great the modern house. Yes it was over their budget but it looked like it was had some worth of the money that they were asking for but bottom line each song and they’re happy that’s all that matters.
This world still exists with the haves and the have nots, but I'm genuinely happy for you I'm glad for people that have 😊 yeh I'm a have not, but I'm a good part of why I guess, but you never know, maybe one day, I'm doing the my numbers thing with every lotto game in the week religiously for years now 😊
Not sure why people need to impress. With young children it's not important to waste as much money as you can just because you can. Saving nowadays is far more important than a fancy overly priced house.
If I ever see just one couple in all these years. Just say. A nice place in good area with no problems instead of a million things they want for Lil money they go on and on and on I want this I want that
Unreal ! Ugly ugly for 2 million!! Come to the US and 2 million you can have a really beautiful house in almost any state !!! Florida is a lot like Aussie weather and even there for 2 million you could be on or close to the Gulf !!!!
This IS hands down the most ridiculous episode of any of these real estate shows😱 These people were probably paid actors, and the totally absurd houses going for millions...??!!! Hahaha. What a JOKE. Especially that they chose the little suburban bungalow...never will you see (even a Londoner) drop that kind of ($$ no object) attitude over paying millions for a place that is worth maybe 700,000 at the very top.. do they think they're in the Silicon Valley🤣 The whole thing must be a staged scam. Crazy!!!
My taste leans towards modern-minimalist however I did think house 3 was perfect. With modern furnishings, fresh coat of paint and modernising the bathrooms, they could’ve met both their wish lists. But it’s their choice and I do wish them many happy years in their new home! 🎉🎉🎉
As with most everyone in these comments I'm very disappointed with the choice. I'm so lost. They picked the smallest one with the least character - not modern or classic, just blah 😮💨. They could've lived in a millionaire's style modern marvel with solar panels saving energy costs, or a jaw dropping character home that needed a little bit of reno in each room to open the space up. I love interracial couples, and I love moves from the old world or USA to Australia/New Zealand. I did so myself (albeit without a partner or kids or 2 million pounds), so I'm really disappointed they chose that first home 😮💨😮💨😮💨. Yes I'm taking it personally. But as long as they're happy that's all that matters.
Two million Australian dollars not two million pounds. There are better choices in Adelaide for that price. St Peters is an OK area. I would've looked at Burnside, Unley Park, Eastwood instead. They are all close to good private schools.
I'm not sure if the price is in American or Australian dollars? 2 million Australian dollars is about 1.3 million US and 1.7 plus Canadian and 1million.45.000 Pounds
This Agent heard they had money to spend and pushed them to the max. Intended Home Owner divulged too much at the start. You need to play your hand close to your chest
No 2 is my favourite. It was worth the price plus its an investment that would be profitable in furure if they choose to resell because a celeb or big money individual could easily fall in love with it and even offer them more than they paid for it. As for 1, in my opinion it wasn't worth the 2 million price tag.
Australia and NZ is notoriously expensive to purchase especially in/near the major cities. While the second house was beautiful, it seemed way too big for their family, it was already above their budget and I'm sure would cost a small fortune to maintain and pay taxes on. House 3 would have been good, but they would have had to probably put another 500k into renovations to make it modern for the husband. I thought house one was perfect, it has most of what they want, is a good size, and seems like its in a nice neighborhood. They seem like a nice family I hope they love it in Aus!
The first house was my least favorite, looked like it should be period then felt a little too whitewashed, plus had lower ceilings and was more cramped in size. I loved the last two, ultra modern and architectural, or traditional with gorgeous original features and both had space & high ceilings!
the 3rd house would have been way better in term of cost especially that backyard with pool and duplex room thing and also that vintage old fashioned paintings and designs(even though the house is over a 100 years old it is still in working condition). the 1st one was my least favorite as i think it is very much over priced it may deserve just a 650k to 700k or might be that the location is near to city the 2nd one was my most favorite house as it was very luxuries and much more spacious than the rest of the houses especially the pool looks like it is more bigger compared to the rest, but i feel like 500k extra is more expensive
