This should be on Netflix. You are an Iconic American Athlete. It is so nice to see the inside view of how you do it. Sometimes we all forget that you're just another human with anxiety, insecurity, sleep issues, etc. Love this episode!

You help millions of people in many different ways, maybe without even knowing it. Thank you.

Its refreshing to hear that you face the same fears that not just athletes, or women, or young girls face, but that all of us face. The difference is how do you take that fear and make it work for you! Hearing your words, watching you journaling, meditating, being silly, performing, showing up, training, practicing....all those things are tools that stop us from letting fear become paralyzing or defining. Thank you Mikaela! You walk the walk and light the path for so many. (PS. I'd love to see a training book, vlog, train along program....No pressure, in your spare time :) jk!!!!)

At some point, it's almost unthinkable that you feel insecure about yourself and have anxieties - you seem to be the perfect human, you're a good (the best) and successful (the most successful) skiing athlete, you seem to be super intelligent and, most importantly, you have a gentle and loving personality (you support your teammates, you truly value your fans and you deeply love Alex and your fam). But to show not only the part with the trophies and the celebrations, it really feels (don't get me wrong) reliving - cause sometimes I get the feeling that all I (or many of us) do is not enough and that I will never accomplish anything valuable when seeing athletes like you perform. Admitting your insecurities really reminds me of not being alone with my doubts. Thank you and a very Merry Christmas!

I know you probably won't have time to read this but I appreciate this so much. I'm not all that surprised that you're still dealing with confidence issues and struggle with pressure, the further I've moved up in my field I've realized the same and my struggle has only become bigger when I started reaching the world's biggest halls (musician). It's such an inspiring voice to hear and I appreciate that you're putting this message out there. Also mad respect for training straight after a victory and doing so much media work the day before races, that's so insane to me. I hope you keep enjoying skiing as much as you can, I know I'll be forever grateful to have watched your runs. 2017 St. Moritz will always be a favorite memory of mine despite you beating Wendy :)

This was a really good episode! I really liked hearing about to perform with insecurities. You always hear about how you need confidence to perform at your best so this was such an important message. We all function differently. Also, your skiing is incredible. How Mikaela and Petra are so much ahead of the competition in slalom is a bit ridiculous. It looks so effortless when you ski but we all know all the hard work that is required for it to look like that. Keep up this series and keep winning! And enjoy it!

Thank you for sharing these moments with us! I can't imagine the stress of standing at the starting gate of a WC event. I love how all of the skiers on the tours show each other support even though the object is to win, they do care for each other. When you hugged Petra in Levi after her dnf it brought a tear to my eye. Keep being AWESOME! p.s. Great win in St. Moritz!!

I find it fascinating that this episodes give us the unique opportunity to have e peek inside the mind of one of the best athletes of this generation. It is even better that Mikaela is showing us different aspects of her preparation and career. Not many would believe that a person can feel self doubt and insecurities, when everything has already being achieved. Being vulnerable and open and showing her passion, not only for winning, but for helping her teammates and the sport as a whole, just shows once again who she is. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to her and her family/team.

Commenting here to the greatest ski racer of all time seems inadequeate. You have achieved so much at such a young age. That is yours, full stop. Yours to keep forever. Your first third of life. If I could offer anything it would be that life is so fleeting that worrying about virtually anything is literally not worth it. Expectations are someone elses. Breath out now and have some fun. Great Race(s) Mikaela! Thank you for redeeming yourself from last year. I attended your 2017 Killington Slalom victory. Last year was the first race at Killington, with my Wife. We both appreciated the effort in 2022. I really really wanted to have my wife experience a victory at K as I did in 2017, which was unbelievable to be a part of. You delivered this year, plus special delivery on Saturday. You are the Absolute Goat. We know a Goat when we see one in New England, TB12, NE Patriots, LOL. And best of all you are, an absolute great human being, personally, professionally and I believe spiritually. Sharing your unbelievable life with us. The Ups and The Downs. Thank you so much for allowing me, Americans and skiers worldwide, to live this wild ride dream you are in. I've been a race fan since JCK, 3 Golds in France, 1968. He was my ski hero then, Along with Billy Kidd of course, as you are to Soooo many young skiers and racers today. I have been so blessed seeing such great champions here in New England, Patriots, Red Sox, Bruin, Celtics and MIKAELA! Peace, Best RJUnleashed!

Wow, I was caught off-guard by this admission of insecurity. As a fan, I assumed perfect confidence was the norm every race, because that's the way you ski. When I raced, I always struggled on race day. The cold, the tension, the lack of practice runs. There was no forgiveness for a flub. Keep inspiring.

Congrats on Killington! BTW congrats to the video team as well they do a great job with each episode. As a 70 yr old NASTAR racer I can appreciate the pressure you put your self under as I find myself doing that as well. In college I really put the pressure on myself to do well for the team. Some times it worked but most of the time it was detrimental.

It is hard for me to imagine that Mikaela struggles with self-confidence. Yes, she has all of her successes and accolades, but seeing the way she handled herself with all of the criticism after the 2022 Olympics made me think she had a strong sense of self. It just goes to show you that even the best of the best struggle with insecurity and it makes me feel a little less alone.

I never expected to be 100% confident on what I have to do. But I always try to remember to enjoy the process. I think is way more powerful. I hope you will always be happy on what you are doing.👍

Truth be told, fear of failure has driven many great achievements and is a powerful (if unwanted) motivator. It’s why I get a kick out of of the “No Fear” stickers you see - fear drives so many people, and they in fact, can achieve great things. It’s just that in the past you had to keep this to yourself mostly as we all need to be confident and perfect - well that is just utter garbage.

Amazing insight and incredibly inspiring! Imposter syndrom and insecurities I'm familiar with. How do you deal with that, simply hard work or other? And who's the one, other than yourself telling you, "you can do it"? Look forward to the next vid of your journey! Safe travels!

This type of top athletes, are mentally on the edge, all the time. Self confidence is soooo.. important, not only to compete and win, but also outside the sports. Where it comes primarily from, no one, not any psychiarist even, can say. Some peoole just have it, or they are able to build it up, through ups and downs, overcoming difficulties and challenges. But there is no top athlete either, who has met weak moments and disbelief during their careers. They come out from there more stronger than tvey went in. Severe injuries often hit badly, because it takes long time to recover, and you as athlete are unsure, if you get any more to the level you were before accident. Michaela is allrrady now the greatest Alpin Ski Racer together with Ingemar Stenmark. How far more up she will reach yet? She only knows. And maybe her bf too, perhaps.
