I think I had this problem too but I was able to fix it. So for me my Sims 4 mods folder is in the Electronic Arts folder in my documents. If that folder isnt there for you, it might be because since you downladed a the game and dont have any saves or anything your computer doesn't show the folder with all that stuff. Once your game is done downloading just go into the game and then exit out of it. Your computer will then reconize the game and make a Sims 4 folder for you with a Mods folder included. Btw I am not a tech expert, this is just what worked for me. Also I own a Windows 10, so I'm not sure what to do if you're having this problem with a mac. Hope this helped a little
@@depressedsunshineshey, every time i download a mod it goes in the electronic arts folder in documents? i have mods installed in my other storage device that do not show up in the game. any help?
You'll need to link that folder back to the documents folder. Since you already have your data over there so you have to do is create the symbolic link. Check out this video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AaLnm8t7hgk.html&si=s20lTik8RfWux0aH just ignore the moving the data part.
I have a question I just got an HP 14 laptop and I also got an external drive to go with it because the laptop didn't have enough space but I'm going to follow your guide to help me download it onto my external drive can you do a tutorial on how you put stuff in your mods folder on the external drive I'm new to all of this lol so im lost also when you buy future expansion packs or kits stuff like that will it automatically download into your external drive?
Essentially, the mods movements stuff is identical to this to a T. There's not really anything special you need to do, haha! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qGCKb7_XfJE.html
I really hope you see my comment, because I’ve been struggling for months. So went ahead and downloaded my sims to my hard drive, but when I start the game I don’t see the ea folder. Its in my documents and then when I tried to move my documents to hard drive, it says can’t move folder because there is a folder in the same location. But I don’t have my documents folder in it.
I just want to be able to play the game 😭 the sims is in my hard drive. Just not the EA FOLDER , it’s hard to move it and keep it in the hard drive. Please help!
@@ariannah678 I see everyone's comments luckily! But I see you girl! So first off, you're describing something that sounds like you have Onedrive or another online syncing deal on your computer. Do you have anything like that? Onedrive, Google drive, Dropbox? If not, then there's a deeper issue

I would assume that if you can't get mods into your game then the mods aren't being extracted properly into the electronic arts folder and eventually into the mods folder. Bc without changes that should work on your c drive. Have you already moved your mods folder?
but it says "all add-ons, bonuses, and files in the game installation directory will be removed. are you sure you want to uninstall the sims 4" and I don't want the stuff I paid for to be removed :(

@@gamerimage I followed the video you just sent and when you said copy the two addresses to powershell it says cannot create a file that already exists.. so what do I do to fix that?
@@ThePrettiest887 Unfortunately, getting the "file already exists" error means that you copied and pasted the Electronic Arts folder instead of cutting and pasting it. This means that inside the documents folder there is still a file folder named "Electronic Arts". This is what is causing issues. You have to cut and paste the file folder completely to the new drive which removes it from the documents folder. Once this is done then you can go ahead and run the command again.

From what I'm aware the update process should be identical to the way it was before. Though I'm not quite certain. I've downloaded the entire game from Origin when it was used recently which I assume would've given me updates. Have you tried checking for updates the old way through Origin?
@@itssanje6170 ok. If you're going to continue to use origin, then there will not be any changes to updates for the game. Are you trying to move the game itself or the game data (saves, mods, etc)
@@vernitagibson1016 You can either copy them straight into your Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods folder **(that's the classic way)** or you can just drop them wherever you linked that external drive with the mklink command you ran! 😊 Either way works, so just pick what feels easiest for you!
Do i have to reinstall the game or can i just move it over without doing that. Im not sure I'll have space to get it back if i reinstall 😅 also I subscribed, thanks for the video!
In my video I uninstalled the game. However, afterward I found some other videos talking about doing some changes in the registry and changing some settings to get it on your external. Don't remember where I saw that though
which do you recommend me to move into my external drive, should I just move sims or use my external hard drive for my mods and cc, I don't know which one is a better option( sorry for bothering you alot)
No bother! This all helps other viewers like your with similar questions! I love the "bothering" hahaha! Honestly, if you CAN move either, usually putting the game on the external drive all loads rather quickly. However, once mods start to reach the multiples in terabytes, and if it were on the external then it would cause MASSIVE loading times. So I would start by moving the game then maybe mods only if you don't have TOO many

@@gamerimage i was only trying to move my sims 4 from my computer to external hard drive just like the video but i ran into those issues following the steps. But i did what you suggested, it worked thanks. 🤍
This only applies to windows. BUT if you have a Mac, you can just open the applications folder and drag the application itself to another drive! Hope this helps!
I have some fixes for you! 1. Check Antivirus/Firewall: Ensure that antivirus or firewall software is not blocking the EA app from accessing files on your computer. Temporarily disabling these tools during installation/uninstallation may help. 2. Run as Administrator: Right-click the EA app and select “Run as Administrator” to ensure it has the necessary permissions to access and modify files. 3. Check Game Folder: Verify if the game files are actually present in the specified destination folder. If not, you might need to download or copy them back to that location. 4. Repair/Verify Game Files: Many game launchers, including EA’s, have a “repair” or “verify” option that can check for and repair missing or corrupted files. Use this option if available. 5. Reinstall EA App: If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the EA app itself. Sometimes, the app itself may be corrupted. 6. Update or Reinstall Sims 4: If the above steps don’t work, consider manually uninstalling The Sims 4 and then reinstalling it from scratch. Be sure to back up your save files and settings before doing this. 7. Check Disk Space: Ensure that you have enough free disk space on the drive where The Sims 4 is installed. Lack of space can cause installation issues. 8. Check out my support subscription: gamerimage.gumroad.com/l/S4DP?layout=profile I hope these help!
Your mods and CC should automatically transfer over but copy and paste the electronic arts folder in your documents elsewhere and then copy and paste it back. Sometimes the mods are there but they don't show up. This fixes that
hello! It's me again and I have my newly external drive! But I'm not sure if whether I should put the sims inside of it or my mods, or if I should/ can do both...I'm stuck and i don't want to mess it up on the first try🥲
