My dream of moving to seattle is finally coming true in june! I was born and raised in San Diego CA but ever since I can remember I would just stare at pictures of seattle and look at hour long videos about living in seattle. Soon enough ill call it home.

You can only really live in Seattle if you are a person that can withstand light deprivation and not go crazy. Some days during the winter we hardly get any light. If you can withstand the long winters that are dreary and wet, then the payoff is well worth it during the spring and summer. During the summer it's a really beautiful place to be. But the first winter is the hardest. If you adjust to the rain and lack of light, then you can live here forever.
@FillmFilms
@FillmFilms 9 лет назад
Black Reaper A.K.A. Hei Yeah, living here I've started to like the winters, even though they can drag on. We get a lot of rain and fog, but not as much as most people would expect. It's definitely a great place if you love winter!

For black people moving/living in Seattle I recommend tanning in the tanning bed to get your Vitamin D. Or get prescription Vitamin D from your Doctor. Seattle care little about Fashion or Labels. Capitol is the BIG gay area, which is why it was glossed over in this video. IF your love White people and White Culture it is great. I had White friends who left because there were "to many white people" LOL.. I stayed. I liked it!! ~Ex- seatlite
@CandyCanery

+Jasmine Jona yes^^ please answer this. what are the best neighborhoods for us?
@andersonbrown5507
@andersonbrown5507 8 лет назад
I can say I always had a job. There is racism there, I would not recommend a black person moving there in 2015. In 2005 it was cool, but with the tech bubble, the culture is geared toward white male liberals. I had trouble finding product for my hair and such and such.its cold without sunlight and now I hear it's really crowded. There is no black neighborhood anymore due to gentrification. I got subtle economic racism like Being paid $3/ hour less than my white male colleague to Do the same job when I had more experience and education. They discriminate like that. Being black in Seattle you are at a disadvantage. I feel. I would try NYC, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, or a state that is rich. Look up the richest states then cross reference them with large black populations and you should do well. 1) would be dc Maryland .

I agree I don't think Seattle is that diverse in that sense. For me the weather's usually too cold, and it's expensive to live but I'm from the south, so not saying much because it's cheaper down there. Ehh. Seattles ok it's a good place for jobs. I agree about the Vita D. Im a Sun person so every yr I fly down to Cali.

Looks great! I was born in Chicago and lived in Boston and NYC. I'm tired of the fast pace, hustle and bustle of the east coast. I'm ready to settle down and enjoy a beautiful and peaceful scenery. The only think I fear is the SeattleFreeze rumors. I'm kind of extroverted but I'm very intelligent too and I fear that I won't make any friends.
@VeloxStang

@MrsTruthTeller

Thanks for the encouragement. I always hear people say that places like Seattle or Boston is hard but places like NYC are easy. Everyone told me that Boston was going to be terrible to meet people. But I made a ton of friends in Boston within a couple of months! And then everyone told me that NYC was going to be a great place to be and make friends. But NYC was the opposite for me. It was a tough place to make friends and I didn't like living there. So I should just see for myself because my experiences are unique to me. Who knows...Seattle maybe hot for me!! Haha
@VeloxStang
@VeloxStang 9 лет назад
No problem :) Yep like you said you should just see for yourself. If you don't you'll always have a "what if" in the back of your mind. Seattle has been calling me for over 2 years and I've been hesitant because most of my family and friends are on the East Coast. I decided to give myself a year in Seattle to see how I handle being away from family/friends. If it sucks, I'll move back home or try somewhere else but at least I know now. Boston is really nice city. I loved it almost as much as Seattle until I saw the rental prices! Holy crap that place is expensive. I'm sure the pay is higher but I couldn't even find a studio for under $1000. Sheesh!!!

People are more relax, and friendly (compare to EastCoast :(***..Got married and.moved to Delaware in 2006...this place sucks!!! Its so deppressing here and I developed allergies from pollutions and pollen. No clean rivers or lakes..they are brown btw....the only place I can go fishing is Pennsylvania area. I keep telling my husband that we need to relocate to Washington area. Maybe someday....until then, I will keep filling up my allergy meds.

u distinct is where the college is. it's crowded and expensive. start with the south suburbs if your not in the dorms. like sea tac, the airport suburb or federal way. it's a long commute by bus or train but it's worth it if your on a budget.

Sorry to be a debbie downer, but rush hour is from 7am-8pm and the worst drivers ever. 3 lanes at the busiest section of the freeway. There is constant light rains and we never get snow. Most people are very rude and uptight. No parking. Plus there are dragons… lots of dragons.

I lived 8 years in seattle and it was pure hell. Cramped, high traffic congestion, slow drivers with no gumption or common sense, WSDOT intentionally causing congestion to punish, it rained constantly. This video seemed to only show sunny bright days. It rained July 4th one time and I was so depressed. The nanny laws make it a consumption tax state. The passive aggressive fucks who try and cut you off in a retail line and then give you a smug dead goat eye staredown. I am extremely happy I left to Texas.

Universal035 Seattle is a pretty safe city all told, as long as you're out of the core after midnight. If you were to draw a box from the corners of a diagonal line from Sodo to the Central District, that would be the area to avoid in the wee hours. Otherwise pretty much every place else is "safe" all hours, except South Park, but then that's dangerously close to White Center and points south. (a subjective term, this isn't Iceland after all). If you really want to know about the city, watch old Almost Live sketches... ;P

There's not much of a music scene left in an area where it's preeminent music club is now a hair salon. The live music nightlife is as dead as the dodo most everywhere these days. People are content with Ipod DJs and performers free styling over prerecorded tracks. I hope this changes.
