Hi! I’m looking to move to Sherman Oaks because I know downtown LA is not for me, I hear a lot of horror stories and the frequent ones are homeless breaking in, sleeping in stairwells, shooting up, leaving excrements, people stealing packages and overall poor state of management/high rate of local crime. I also work in entertainment so I want to be close to studios. I was wondering, do you recommend having a car while living in Sherman oaks? Will it be difficult to live there without a car? It seems the orange line is know to be fast and frequent but I’m not sure if it is sufficient. Thank you for making these videos, it gave me the push to really consider Sherman oaks as I was only considering Glendale up until this point 😊 Sherman oaks seems like it’s my cup a tea!

I'm happy these videos are helping you with your move. In general, I do recommend people having a car when living in Los Angeles (including Sherman Oaks/The San Fernando Valley). The Orange line is a good resource; so you can try living here without a car and then get one if you decide you need one. My sister-in-law lived in The Valley and took the Orange Line to DT LA for school/work and she had a good experience with it. Sherman Oaks is easy to navigate (without a car) with walking, a bike, scooter and ride shares. Experiencing other parts of LA may be challenging if you don't have a car. As far as some of the negative points you mentioned about LA, you will come across that more in DT LA then in Sherman Oaks or Glendale. It's still noticeable in these areas, but not prevalent in DT LA.
